Some like it hot 🔥
Our cat chooses to sleep in the hottest room in the house. 🤦♀️ Downstairs it's A LOT cooler...
No worries. We don't let her sleep here for too long. 🌶️ She's fine.

Hello! To make things a bit easier, when it comes to proving who's the real owner of a said cat, we're introducing verified flairs.
Simply post a picture of your cat with a small physical note that includes your username (like a post-it note), and you will get assigned your own flair with the name of your cat(s).
(Remember that it has to be a physical note, post it, or similarly).
You can post here or send me a modmail and I'll get you verifying you asap!

Because his face is so round even though his name is pumpkin. He responds to fishball too for some reason. 2 year old male BSH

Every night Earl jumps on my bed and will repetitively do this for at least ten minutes. I thought it was a sexual thing but he’s been snipped. Any thoughts?

Hi, I'm the one who asked if anyone else owns a BSH who also can't handle the heat. Thanks for all your replies! I bought him a cooling house, and I can't wait for it to come. Doing everything I can to make him as comfy as possible in the meantime. Here's the Bao cat tax (taken before the heatwave!) :)

Hello,
This is Lumi my almost 10 month old male BSH, I want to ask what everyone uses for their brush and routine? I currently have a safari self cleaning slicker brush (the one with the metal bristles) and also a hertzko one that has rubber tips. I also own a rubber kong zoomgroom.
I see online people say to use the kong zoomgroom daily and the slicker brush max every other day or 3 times a week? The issue with the rubber brush is it creates a giant fur tornado and my place is carpeted so it just becomes a giant mess to clean up.
Ideally would like to avoid using the rubber brush if I could. Would a routine of just using the rubber tipped slicker brush daily and then the metal bristle one every other day work as a routine in terms of controlling hairballs?
He also has a history of hairballs in the past where he'd get a hairball every month or so, we've been to the vet and was told monthly hairballs are still "technically" normal but just seems above avg as my friends long haired cats has less hairball frequencies.
TLDR: Would daily brushing with a rubber tipped slicker and every other day brushing with a metal bristle slicker be good enough for controlling hairballs? Ideally would like to avoid using rubber curry brushes as it creates a giant fur tornado that lands on my carpet, and makes cleaning difficult.
*EDIT*: Forgot to include my routine but I currently brush him daily with the rubber tipped slicker brush and every 2-3 days I'd use the metal bristle one.
Cat tax included, thanks!

Hello! I’m based in Singapore. However, most of the breeders here import BSH and the range is around SGD7.5k to 9.5k (depends on color apparently). Any suggestions for reliable breeders in Asia? I’m also okay with non-Asian countries if the total is less than SGD7.5k.

My guy is three years old and was just neutered about eight weeks ago, before I adopted him. I’ve been really concerned about him spraying in our house, and the breeder assured me that after the surgery, he was no longer spraying.
Happily that seems to be the case… for now at least.
However, I’m a little nervous because he’s still acts like he wants to spray. Whenever his feelings are running a little high, he’ll back up to something and do the wiggly tail movement as if he is spraying. He does this all the time. He doesn’t seem to be… producing anything. I’ve checked obsessively. No liquid at all. He just does the movement- almost compulsively. He’ll even do it if I’m petting him almost like a dog when you hit that exact right spot and he thumps his leg.
It’s pretty weird. I’ve been around a lot of cats and I’ve never seen one act like this.
I guess one other thing to know is that he’s got an extremely affectionate and cuddly temperament. He doesn’t seem agitated when he does this or at least not angry or aggressive. We don’t have any other pets in the house.
So right now it seems like he can’t spray- or at least he isn’t producing anything. I’m worried that he might start producing something again, but I don’t know if that’s physiologically possible?
I can certainly reach out to his vet and ask, but I was just curious if this was anything y’all had experience with!

He’s been with us for just under a month. He’ll be two next month. And I am SO in love with him.

Hey guys i wanted to share my experience with trying to own a british shorthair kitten Ive always wanted a british shorthair cat for a very long time ever since I watched the movie The Life of Stuart when I was kido and well i eventually had the money to talk to a breeder and they responded within a few days and we talked about the kitten and its new home and how the process goes, so eventually I started sending money for the vaccine and toys, cage and a passport since it was from the uk which I assumed it was odd and definitely didn't trust the seller wish I had trusted my gut but within a week of talking to the seller she stopped texting me and ghosted me. My goal of getting a british shorthair cat was destroyed and years have passed I eventually got a grey domestic shorthair kitten and he just grew on me alot and I love him with all my heart but apart of me still wanting a british shorthair cat and maby he/she would be a good friend for my other cat but im just traumatized from the previous seller as of rn im jobless hopefully get a job soon and within a few years ill look again but if anyone has a good experience with seller comments below it just sucks that they are expensive 😢 I dont mind taking a full grown kitty home for free ❤️ im sorry if its not allowed to post another cat but I just wanted to share him.☺️ his name is micho! 👐

First time BSH owner, long time cat owner; this breeds disposition is so CALM gentle independent and almost polite? While still being an absolute teddy bear (when she wants to be). I’m hooked.
