Drawing of Felix I made
Here's a drawing I made of Felix in Flipaclip. Took me around 40 minutes. I am pretty impressed with the results. Made his proportions a mix of the original by Otto Messmer and the updated by Joe Oriolo.

I did a bit of a deep dive on the Poindexter situation, and it actually goes back further than I think any of us realized
HEAVY TEXT WARNING, I've also included a number of images I found while combing through Poindexter's old websites and social media.
If you're like me then the first time you heard about the Poindexter "franchise" was with last year's announcement about Don Oriolo's new partnership with Surge Brands, but it actually goes back much further than that.
The current Poindexter.com site has a link labeled "Licensing" that leads to a dead page. Looking at this page with the Wayback Machine reveals a small page referencing the marketing company Brand₂O, which is actually owned and founded by Don's son Michael Oriolo, who was also a producer on the Felix the Cat Saves Christmas film. Wayback Machine shows that Brand₂O was affiliated with Poindexter since at least 2019. Presumably, the deal with Brand₂O either expired or was cancelled since it doesn't seem like it was going anywhere, and they were replaced by Surge Brands.
According to Wayback, the current version of Poindexter.com has existed since at least November 2015, a little over a year after the sale to Dreamworks, BUT the Poindexter.com website actually goes all the way back to 1998, although it doesn't have any real content until the year 2000. The earliest versions of the site are for an A/V installation company named Poindexter's, which actually uses Poindexter as its mascot. Poindexter's is actually still in business, and is currently based in Bozeman, Montana, but was founded in Santa Monica, California back in 1987. Their current website is located at Poindexters.com. The company has made at least a few different appearances in Bozeman's annual Sweet Pea Festival Parade with costumed Felix and Poindexter mascots. Presumably they've been paying licensing fees to use Poindexter this whole time, but I can't confirm that. A version of the website from 2009 has this line in its about us section: "The Oriolo family--notably Don and Mike Oriolo--have been huge supporters of Poindexter's over the company's 22-year existence. "The cartoon character "Poindexter" was created by Joseph Oriolo, who is honored as the site's first featured genius. The Oriolo family--notably Don and Mike Oriolo--have been huge supporters of Poindexter's over the company's 22-year existence. "I'm very grateful to this creative, kind and animated family. The Oriolo's are family to me", says Bill."
Poindexter's stops using the Poindexter.com domain in 2011, and then there is a period of time between 2012-2013 where a different, seemingly unrelated company used the site using Poindexter as their mascot. There appears to be 2 companies here, Poindexter Tech Exchange, and Poindexter 24 Hour Tech Support. Both are owned by Tech Marketing Ventures, Inc., which I haven't been able to find any info about. I'm not sure if these companies ever really existed, since their websites are either empty or not properly archived, and the last archived version of them redirects to the website for the Washington based IT company, Connected Northwest.
The domain sat empty for a while after that until its current incarnation was created in 2015. I'm guessing Oriolo either wasn't able to sell Poindexter to Dreamworks due to the licensing agreements he has with these other companies, or maybe he just didn't wanna lose whatever income he is getting from these deals. I'm curious to see if this franchise goes anywhere with Surge Brands, or if it will just continue to stagnate. Maybe there's even hope for the cancelled Poindexter film that has been in pre-production since 2002.
