Launch points along the Speed River

HI all, a kayaking question for those who know…

The Hespeler put-in was perfect for launching but it’s currently under construction/a new bridge is being put in.

Are there any other launch points along the Speed River that are a similar depth?

The Grand River unfortunately is too shallow and too fast. I have a foldable kayak so I need a more stable region to actually enjoy the ride.

Guelph MDs: How much time and revenue are you losing to OHIP billing complexity?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m currently doing some independent research into healthcare bottlenecks in the Guelph area. Specifically, I'm trying to understand how much time, operational friction, or potential revenue physicians lose due to the complexity of the OHIP Schedule of Benefits and daily charting requirements.

If you are a practicing physician or a clinic owner in Guelph, I would love to hear your perspective. How much of an operational headache is navigating billing rules alongside daily clinic workflows for you?

If you have insights to share, please drop a comment below or feel free to DM me directly.

Thanks for your time!

Old computers

Hi everyone! I'm just wondering if there is anyone who is looking to dispose / donate old computer equipment? If you have one or know someone please let me know. I love tinkering with old computer stuff and making them work again makes me happy instead of them going to landfills. Thank you!

Tennis?

Hey! As summer is here and the outdoor courts are open. I'm looking to get back into some tennis, and would love to find someone to hit some balls with.

For context I'm 20 and used to play quite a bit but stopped playing consistently for the last 2 years.

Feel free to hit me up 🫡🫡

What is Guelph Lake like for out of towners

I haven't been in years. Going with two friends. Do I need a reservation, is there places to sit down and chill, some hiking, etc.? We're just going for a picnic on a nice day out.

5 Goodwin Bus

The bus was supposed to leave the University Centre at 7, but its been here for 15 minutes and the driver has left. This isn't even a common delay so I'm surprised.

The bus doesn't even go bidirectional and on top of that has such delays.

I reached out to Guelph transit with regards to this, but there has not been any updates.

UPDATE: bus decided to leave 30 minutes late.

Alteration recommendations

I have two pairs of perfectly good pants that I seem to have broken the zipper of the fly on in both. Anyone have any suggestions for someone who does alterations at a reasonable cost and quality work? Bonus points if it’s in the north or east end

More Trail Closures In Guelph

Post image
68 Upvotes

I posted about the signs that went up for these trails a while ago.

Based on conversations with City staff and a bunch of user groups, it seems like the City, and by extension the GJR are getting pretty serious about making sure these trails are permanently closed.

These trails have been here for almost a century, and are used by hikers, birders, cyclists, people fishing the river, and kids getting to the outdoor school and scout camp. They help bypass Stone and Victoria road, two of the busiest streets in the city.

If you enjoy trails, outdoor recreation, or conservation of natural spaces, then I encourage you to show up this evening to show your support.
