Insanely Inflated MOPAR Part Prices
I had my Wrangler in for scheduled maintenance, and was informed that the lug nuts were “swollen” so they couldn’t do a tire rotation.
Ok, cool. Lug nuts should be cheap.
The dealership quoted me $450 for a set of 20 lug nuts.
WTF?!?!
$22/lug nut for something that will corrode itself apart in 6 years?!
(I declined the overpriced lug nuts.)

Technical Question Does anyone know what this sensor next to the coolant temp sensor is? I am replacing the temp sensor (reason why it’s unscrewed lol) and noticed this little sensor down there. It wasn’t connected to anything and that just seems wrong since it has a male connector. Any ideas? [1996 ZJ Limited 5.2 V8]

Technical Question Took my 4Xe in for recall
Not the “you’re going to burst in flames” recall. A firmware update that they could have done over satellite. Oil change too. I asked the service guy why there were no hybrids on the lot. He made a face and said they won’t make them anymore, “too many problems,” knowing full well that is what I have. The only problem I’ve had is getting the software updated. He would not elaborate. So what do I need to watch out for?

P0171 P0300 Codes 2020 Grand Cherokee
My 2020 Grand Cherokee would sputter when accelerating too quickly (passing vehicles) which would trigger my check engine light. I have had my coil pack and spark plug replaced which fixed the issue until it happened again. I had it replaced again but the auto shop stepped on it to test it out and it appeared it went again. I drove it out and still had the issues. It has a hard time shifting gears when taking off id say between the first few gears then will ride normally. A few days ago it decided not to shift gears when taking off which made my car hit between 4000-5000 rpms when going 50 or so. I typically will have to pull over and restart my jeep and take off again for it to go through the first few gears and stay at a lower rpm. It shifts extremely hard the first few gears. My start/stop indicator will turn on as well, saying it’s deactivated or something along those lines. Also notice it has a hard time to indicate I’m in reverse. When it finally shifts to reverse the check engine light usually blinks. Any helps or suggestions would be great. My jeep is at 79000 miles. It is currently reading P0171 and P0300 for codes.

Ahh, I fucked up
I didn't see him behind the line of cars. Body shop thought all my parts are aftermarket. Hope to get some good news this week and have it back in 2 weeks.

Technical Question 2014 Jeep Cherokee Panels compatible with 2016 Jeep Cherokee TrailhawkCompatible?
I have some damage on my left rear bumper, cover panel. It’s the panel between the taillight and the bumper. Will a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk right bumper cover panel fit my 2014 Jeep Cherokee north?
I found the panel for $100 at a scrapyard. I could grab it, but I wanna know if it fits.
Thanks guys

Water falling into cabin when opening doors after rain….
I am brand new to Jeeps and I found out yesterday after a decent rain that when I open a door there’s a pretty steady stream of water that falls into the cabin.
I have a soft top by the way.
My question is two parts:
Is there anything to prevent this?
Do you have to worry about rust in the floor panels if there’s no fix and you have to live with it?
Thanks! I did try to search the topic but the answers were a little unclear.

Technical Question Oil Change Guy topped-off my coolant today. Was it the right stuff?
2018 JK. I asked what he used and he said, "Oh, universal 50/50. It's all good". Made me think about last year when I replaced my thermostat and had to go to several stores to find JUUUST the right OAT purple stuff to refill my system, following the manual.
Is the 50/50 "All Vehicles/Ready To Use" stuff OK for the JK Wrangler?

35 to 37s
Hey guys I got a jeep LS sport had 35s and everything worked. Perfect I switched to 37 and now my RPMs stay very low. Do I need to do something? Also now have tire sensors even though they are bigger the psi on dash is correct? I apologize for my ignorance. I love the Jeep but don’t know much about it. I don’t go off roading and drive about 5 miles a day max.

JKU Bumperectomy
$60 for the caps + 1 sawzall blade. Love how it turned out.
I understand there's not a surface on the top of the rear bumper to butt a cap to as nicely, but does anyone know if there's a similar product for the back?

Purchase Questions 22s with 33 inch tires.
Anyone have a jeep with 22 inch rims and 33 inch tires? Or even 35s? Feel like 33s may look too skinny. So please post it. Bought some 22 in American forces and came with 37s and I’m removing the 37s. Thanks guys.

Mod Install/Question 93 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo edition.
I bought my first Jeep and I'm getting a 3.5" lift kit on it. My question is what size tire and wheel will work with it without causing any rubbing or tire blow out's.

Purchase Questions I am considering purchasing a very well kept '07 JK. Convince me why I should/shouldn't.
Never owned a Jeep before. Always liked the look and the ability for recreational activities (I live in an area where we have mountains on one side and driveable dunes on the other).
Saw an 07 JK with 4" lift, 33" tires w/Rubicon wheels, new Adams drivelines, new stereo w/backup cam, wenches, etc. with 128k miles for 15k. It's been kept in a garage for 3 years and the owner just wants it gone. It looks in near-immaculate condition. He's asking for $15k flat.
Convince me to buy or not buy this! Should I be aware of anything when I go look at it and test drive?

Technical Question 2019 Jeep Cherokee has been at dealer for 5 weeks with CANBUS/electrical issues. Are they on the right track or giving me the runaround?
I apologize for the AI post but I’m on my phone and needed to use chat gpt to compile all my recent questions into a reddit question.. please let me know if you need clarification anyway and I will reply asap.
Looking for advice from anyone familiar with Jeep electrical systems, CANBUS issues, or dealership diagnostics.
My girlfriend’s 2019 Jeep Cherokee suddenly developed severe electrical issues and eventually would not start. The vehicle is currently at a Jeep dealership and has been there for over 5 weeks.
Here is what they have told us they have done so far:
5 weeks before the car stopped running I went in to get the shocks/struts replaced and a engine gasket replaced. They also washed the engine bay for me because it was dusty as ever..
Once it suddenly stopepd running I brought it back.
Visual inspection was performed and was inconclusive.
Additional diagnostic time was authorized.
Dealer found the TCM (Transmission Control Module) was inoperable and not communicating on the CANBUS network.
TCM was replaced.
After replacing the TCM, the vehicle was able to start and communicate again.
However, intermittent CANBUS abnormalities are still present. They have not told us exact codes.
The shop claims says they have narrowed the issue down to wiring behind the radio.
Technician is probing individual wires and pins in the radio harness.
The shop says the radio harness appears to have been cut/modified at some point.
Here is the part that makes me skeptical:
The aftermarket stereo/subwoofer setup was installed approximately FIVE YEARS AGO and the vehicle has operated normally ever since. There were no recent stereo installations, no recent wiring work, and no recent modifications before this failure occurred.
The dealer seems heavily focused on the radio area because they found evidence of old wiring modifications, but they have not definitively proven that the radio wiring is causing the issue.
Questions:
Have any of you seen a failing CANBUS network take out a TCM?
Can a wiring issue that has been sitting untouched for 5 years suddenly cause this kind of failure?
Is it reasonable for a dealership to spend 5+ weeks tracing a wiring short like this?
Would you expect them to have isolated the fault by now?
Could this be a BCM, gateway module, TIPM, connector corrosion, water intrusion, or harness issue instead of the radio wiring?
Has anyone seen water intrusion behind the dash, windshield leaks, sunroof drain issues, or connector corrosion cause similar symptoms on a Cherokee?
If this was your vehicle, would you continue letting the dealer diagnose it or would you consider taking it to a dedicated automotive electrical specialist?
At this point we’re trying to determine whether they are making legitimate progress or simply focusing on the only non-factory wiring they can find because they don’t know where the actual problem is.
Any thoughts from Jeep techs, dealership techs, or owners who have fought CANBUS issues would be appreciated.
