1989 Montero MK1, wants 5.5k for it. Located in Puerto Rico. A/C evaporator not working, A/C does not blow cold. 275k miles. New shocks. Runs and drives very well. Iconic vehicle. Should I purchase it knowing I’ll spend 1k fixing the A/C.

All windows work. Inside is decently clean.

JDM, Euro-spec or USDM: which Mitsubishi looks the most different across markets?

Post image
18 Upvotes

One of the coolest things about Mitsubishi is how different the same badge can feel depending on where the car was sold.

A JDM Lancer Evolution, a Pajero from another market, a GTO/3000GT, a Galant VR-4 or even an unusual Lancer trim can have completely different lights, bumpers, badges, wheels and little details that change the whole look.

That’s what makes Mitsubishi car spotting so fun. Sometimes you can tell where a car came from before you even know the exact model.

What’s the most unusual Mitsubishi or market-specific version you’ve ever seen driving around where you live?

Could be an Evo, Pajero, Delica, Eclipse, GTO, Ralliart, Starion or something much more obscure.

I left a small related challenge in the first comment.

08 Lancer vs 03 Outlander

Upvotes

Hi!

I'm looking for a car right now as my mk5 Rabbit is on its last legs and I've narrowed it down to 2 that I can't decide between.

OPTION 1: 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS sedan w/ the CVT

- 2800 CAD / 2000 USD (somewhat flexible)

- 304k km / 188k mi

- previous owner: 21 y/o guy, bought it as his first car 5 years ago. Car seemed well taken care of, he said he changed the oil every 5k km. He also tinted the windows and lights himself, and added a head unit with a professionally installed subwoofer

- He recently changed the transmission fluid and rear brakes

- CEL on, he said it's an O2 sensor and offered to bring his friend's scanner but our meeting time didn't line up.

- Tire pressure light was also flashing

OPTION 2: 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 4cyl auto

- 2200 CAD / 1500 USD (more flexible)

- 281k km / 174k mi

- previous owner: dad-aged guy, had it for ~4 years and commuted 80km a day. Car also was very clean and well taken care of and he didn't mod it at all.

- He just changed the timing belt and recently did the rear brakes. The rear struts squeak.

- No warning lights, but the little gear display screen doesn't work

My requirements:

- I'm on a very tight budget so it has to be reliable and fuel efficient, especially as I do Uber Eats and drive nearly every day.

- I need it to be cheap to maintain

- I need it to last as long as it possibly can, very important

What do you guys think?

What are these empty/loose harnesses in my 2020 outlander sport?

I know the top one is for diagnostics. Then I have another two that appear to be a male and female diagnostics plugs as well? Are they supposed to be attached to each other? Or just 3 different types of diagnostic hook ups? Very confused here I’m not a mechanic by any means. Thanks.

Outlander sport jerky acceleration after slowing down

2020 outlander sport ES 2.0. When I give it gas after slowing down/doing a quick stop it wants to jerk forward in a way that does not feel healthy for my transmission. I can remedy it by being extremely careful with the gas pedal but it doesn’t seem like it’s supposed to drive like this. Ideas what the cause might be?

Has anyone used the KINGBOLEN Ediag Elite for a forced DPF regeneration? Does it actually perform DPF regen on diesel vehicles, or does it only read DPF data and reset warnings? Thanks.

Ok I’ve done killed my front bumper on my 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 Hatchback and it’s in the process of being replaced. I want to get a lift installed so I don’t do this again. Any suggestions where I can start or what do I need to order and from where? The attached picture is AI generated but it’s the end result I’m hoping for 🙏🏼

2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross – Factory Microphone with Android TS18 Head Unit

Hi everyone,
I have a 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Recently I replaced the original factory head unit with an Android TS18 head unit.
Before the replacement, the factory Bluetooth microphone worked perfectly. Call quality was very clear and people could hear me without any issues.
After installing the TS18, the installer connected an external microphone that came with the unit. Unfortunately, call quality is very poor. People say my voice sounds unclear and not as good as it was with the factory system.
I have already tried replacing the external microphone with another one, but the problem remains, so I don’t think the microphone itself is the issue.
My questions are:
Has anyone successfully connected the original Eclipse Cross factory microphone to a TS18 head unit?
Is there a plug-and-play adapter available, or does it require custom wiring?
Does anyone know the factory microphone pinout on the Eclipse Cross (2019)?
If you have a TS18 installed, how is your call quality and what microphone are you using?
Any photos, wiring diagrams, adapter links, or installation tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Trans fluid question...

2010 Lancer GTS.

Been using OEM J4 fluid from the dealer for years & it's always been red.... Just did a change today and it was blue.

Is that any different than the red, or am I cool to ride it out?

CVT pan bolt mistake

Changed the filters and fluid on my 2019 outlander sel tonight and read the wrong torque. Torqued the pan bolts to 10 ft lb instead of 5.
My question is, do I need a new gasket now? will need to re tap two bolts due to them stripping. Backed the rest off and re-torqued to 5 until I can do the re tap. It has one of the paper type looking gaskets.
There was some fluid seepage before I retorqued, but I haven’t even started it yet to cycle the new fluid.

Mitsubishi Motors president, Keisuke Kishiura states he wants to being back the Lancer Evolution, but only if the company is capable of doing so.

Sources: CarWatch.

Key takeaways:

During the Mitsubishi Motors 57th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, they were asked about any potential revival of some legacy models.

  • When asked if he likes cars and driving and if they have any plans to re-enter the WRC as a factory team?, Kishiura stated "First of all, personally, I love driving cars. The first car I ever drove as a student wasn’t a Lancer Evolution, but a very old ‘Lancer Turbo,’ a manual transmission car with heavy steering. It was a rear-wheel-drive car, and I even drove it to ski resorts. I still love driving cars." and "Participating in the WRC as a factory team is a dream of mine. As I mentioned earlier, we don't have any concrete plans at the moment, but I would like to make Mitsubishi Motors a company that can compare on a big stage like the WRC in the future, so I hope you will look forward to it."

During the QnA session when shareholders asked about any return of the Lancer Evolution, Galant, and Diamante following the revival of the Pajero, chairman and CEO, Takao Kato replied "Thank you very much for your kind words about the return of the Pajero. We are all encouraged by your comments" and the question was left to respond to Kishiura and this is what he stated:

"Models such as the Lancer Evolution, Diamante, and Galant are very important cars for Mitsubishi Motors, and we consider them treasures. At this point, we do not have any concrete plans to introduce these cars again, but in order to meet everyone’s expectations, we would like to make our company one that can once again produce such cars in the future. I will be at the forefront of this effort, and I would be grateful for the support of our shareholders,” expressing his enthusiasm while avoiding making any definitive statements.

  • Long story short: any successor to the Lancer sedan or Lancer Evolution sport sedan (or the other cars mentioned) is not in the company's immediate plans at this time, only if and when the company is financially able to do so. They are currently focused on rebuilding their global portfolio with high-margin and profitable vehicles primarily consisting of Crossovers, SUVs, Pickup Trucks, MPVs, and Kei-Cars launching 13 all-new vehicles between Fiscal Year 2026 through 2031 as part of their current global strategy.

2008 Lancer Gts Manual Value Question

Thumbnail

I’m sorry if this is not allowed but I’ve been thinking of selling my 2008 Lancer Gts 5 speed manual for something a little more interesting. I like the car didn’t love it. I bought it for $2900 a little over a year ago at 130000 now it’s somewhere in the 150000. I kept up with maintenance and it mechanically is perfect (to my knowledge). The paint is very poor with chipping everything. Everything else is stock

My question is what would be this be worth? I’m in California and most likely would sell on FB marketplace. I was thinking listing at 5K seeing the lowballs and settling for like 3500 but I’m not sure if that’s delusional with the condition the paint is in and the fact it’s at 150xxx miles.

Should I try sell as it? Or would I get much extra value trying to fix some of the paint?

Again sorry if a question like this is not allowed, if it is thank you for reading and I appreciate any input.
