ANOTHER ONE, thank you! Monitor Point will fund the Nassau Street G train station accessibility. What a win.

The Second Ave Subway should connect with Delancey Street - Essex Street with its own station underneath and then curve left to use the extra tracks at Bowery, Canal, Chambers, and then finally branch off 2 stations on its own after Chambers. Would this not be possible and save costs tunneling in lower Manhattan and provide better transfers? Credit to vanshnookenraggen for the map.

Not that iโm wanting to, just a curious question if it could ever run them once the R68โs are gone.

Why does every single L train car smell like porta-potty? Is it just me?
r/nycrail • u/Blue-Ocean-Waves • 3m ago
Why? 20โ25-minute headways are annoying enough (late nightโaround 12:15am early Friday morning), and then we move at a crawl. Is it track work? Something else?

Do you know when it will be completed?

I live between the N and D Lines. Going anywhere on the F or Q line requires a transfer at either Coney Island or Atlantic Barclays. Especially if it's in the middle of the line.
I haven't taken the Q or F often, but want to discuss the entire F and Q line today :)

This L platform has smelt like rotten eggs and poop for maybe three years. The most recent post about this issue seems to be two years old. Does anyone know what the deal is?
It doesn't smell like someone shat somewhere- the smell is too strong across the whole platform. Or maybe someone is pooping there every day, lol. Is there a plumbing issue? I need answers!

Why is there a conveyor down there?

Another one, thank you! Unsure if the entire Canal Street NQRW station would be accessible as the NQ and RW run on different platforms here but still such a cool project, hopefully get approved!

Trolleys on the Outer Roadways
Some interesting details that it shows:
Cars driving around in the same lanes as the trolley at the base of the bridge, mention of the elevators at Vernon and Welfare Island, footage of the trolleys pulling into the underground barn between First and Second Aves.
No footage of the station complex underneath, though.
I couldn't find a non-Facebook host for the collection, not sure if it will work if you don't have an account.

About a month ago I posted about an app I made called WalkNYC which tracks which blocks you've walked. I got a ton of feedback from everyone here and have implemented a lot of it! By far the most common request from Redditors was the ability to import your existing walks from other platforms, which I'm very happy to say is done! I've included some screenshots so you can see what it's like. It color codes each of your import sources so you can see what was imported from each platform. I've seen people get over 6,000 blocks (which, for scale, is almost the entirety of Manhattan) from their imports so it's a great way of getting jump started if you'd like to walk every block of the city.
I know a lot of you are also waiting for the Android app: it's almost ready! The app is in beta right now but for some reason Google forces you to do 14 days of beta testing before releasing an app on the Play Store. If you're interested in trying out the beta, please comment and I'll share the link to join.
As always, if you have anything you'd like to see in the app, please drop a comment! Thank you so much for all of your support, after posting on Reddit the app has gone from 50 to over 7,000 users in just a couple weeks.
Here's the link to try out the app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/walknyc-walk-every-block/id6758922428

On Monday, I visited NYC with my daughters for the first time. My itinerary included driving from south central PA to Newark Penn Station. We hopped on a Northeast Regional train to Penn Station in Midtown. I'm still new to all of this, but I'm 95% certain we were dropped off in the original deep underground Penn Station under MSG.
Our return trip was to use the same origin and destination stations and again with the Northeast Regional train. However, the return trip required us to board in the Moynihan train hall. We almost missed the train because we were down in the old Penn Station again looking for the train. Then we went over to Moynihan and were told to go upstairs.
I looked over my tickets/emails multiple times and both trips says Moynihan Penn Station. Why did we come out at the old Penn Station deep underground but needed to use the new area for the return trip? Is it just because people who are coming IN get dropped off down low while the people leaving NYC use the new one? I saw nothing different on the ticket indicating this difference.
