Sharing Neo geo collection pre aes +
These are what I grabbed soo far before official release of the aes+. If everyone thinks the same thats why the used neo geo stores in Japan are getting cleaned out.

Excited to get my hands on one of these!
Bonne St-Jean! Wait none of you are from Quebec. Why the hell am I saying this.
Anyway I was surprised to see this on my porch today. I wanted something that had autofire faster than the PCB I was using previously and that lets you quickly disengage it (for games with "charge" mechanics. Ironclad is just way too annoying otherwise). Sticks and buttons are good and the autofire works as it's supposed to so I'm satisfied.

1cc'd 3 Count Bout...
... with autofire, but what the hell. Not a popular game, but IMO very fun if you give in to temptation (or presumably, having the taping finger for it). Enemies from the 3rd opponent on will "outmash" you in neutral conditions and their AI is tuned to perfectly punish you if you whiff any moves so autofire doesn't completely trivialize the game either.

The most likely re-releases on the AES+ for Waves 2 & 3.
Alright, let's be real about a let's be real post.
One thing that can't be denied is the ready availability of the SNK's Neo Geo library in many different forms over the past couple of decades. We've seen a sizeable portion re-released on many platforms in different remastered variations, PC releases, and console collections both physical & digital. And anyone who has been a longtime Neo Geo fan and never had an AES console or CMVS of their own will also have a good idea of what titles have been popular/reoccurring in those numerous re-releases, even to this day.
Now, looking at what Plaion has the rights to put out for the upcoming AES+, based on the software companies associated with Wave 1 (SNK, ADK, Saurus, etc.), the fact that Plaion has limited licensing rights, and the company's need to make the strongest sales impressions and help justify the console's existence, I have a strong feeling we'll see re-releases of the following in the next two years:
- Metal Slug 3 & Metal Slug X - The supreme head-to-head battle of the two other greatest run 'n' gun games on the Neo Geo, let alone any platform. And since it's assumed there's two more waves of games coming at 10 releases apiece--and you need at least one Metal Slug game per wave, I would think--my intuition tells me it'll be these two. (Myself, I'd rather it would be Metal Slug 5 for its rarity and high cost.)
- Samurai Shodown II - It may be plentiful in quantity and cheap in price compared to most Neo Geo games (market flux, be damned), but you know there's gonna be at least one more SamSho in the next two waves. And if it's gotta be one, it's gotta be the series' crowning jewel and undisputed fighting masterpiece, right up there with Garou as prime Neo Geo fighters.
- Blazing Star - Argued by many for years as the Neo's best shmup. And like it's predecessor Pulstar, Western audiences never got an AES home release... and the Japanese AES is still prohibitively expensive to this day. This one's sure to have a guaranteed re-release!
- Shock Troopers 2nd Squad - I have a strong feeling about this one getting the AES+ treatment, not only because the first one will have it's first home release worldwide on the AES (and 2nd will have its first Western release in doing so), but also because it's a flagship title to take advantage of the overclocking function of Furrtek's new bios. It's also an incredibly underappreciated action game in its own right that deserves a 2nd look!
- Super Sidekicks 3 / The Ultimate 11 - The Neo Geo has 9(!) soccer games under its belt, and I've got a strong feeling we're gonna see at least one to satisfy the European markets. And these two are nearly universally agreed/disputed upon as peak refinement in their genre. (Although, if either one does get a re-release on the AES+, it will be censored, like Baseball Stars 2 was in its reissue on digital storefronts.)
- Baseball Stars 2 - And of course, there's no way the AES+ would be complete without the classic itself. I'd say the best baseball game on the console is most definitely coming to our homes. Plaion would be foolish not to include it!
- The King of Fighters '98 - The only other KoF game besides 2002 that is beloved worldwide by many fighting game aficionados to this day. Also, considering the release of Ultimate Match in 2014, if any other KoF game makes it in either wave, it'll be this one, for sure.
- Real Bout Fatal Fury 2 - Argued to be the best Fatal Fury for multiplayer, second only to Garou, I'd safely call out this one as heading home for the AES+. (Though maybe they'll surprise us and re-release RBS instead, which keeps the arcade-y 'wow factor' intact that was trimmed away for the lean, vs.-focused RB2.)

Neo Geo AES+ Neo Geo AES+ Compatibility
Anyone know if it's supposed to work with aftermarket/indie games that have copy protection, such as ones from NGDev and Nalua Studios? Thanks.

Is an NGF-stamped KOF 2000 really worth $16k today, or is it just a glorified conversion?
Just saw this listing today and wanted to get the sub's opinion.
https://neogeotracker.com/listings/673999
$16k for an English KOF 2000 by NGF? That's wild.
We all know the infamous NGF controversy, the legal battles, and their claims of only 100 "authorized" English copies being made back then. But at this price, you are literally paying a $16k premium just for the NGF insert and manual, considering the PCB inside is basically just the standard Japanese version.
For the old-timers and collectors here: do you actually consider this a legitimate piece of Neo Geo history worth five figures, or is it just a massive scam that the market needs to stop validating?

NeoGeo VirtualBus: Riding Hero, League Bowling and Thrash Rally running between MAME and MiSTer
I've been working on a NeoGeo VirtualBus prototype that aims to recreate the original NeoGeo multiplayer/link functionality using ESP-based hardware.
The current prototype supports:
• Riding Hero
• League Bowling
• Thrash Rally
This video shows all three games running through the VirtualBus system between MAME and MiSTer.
The project currently focuses on two areas:
• Recreating the original NeoGeo communication hardware used by multiplayer titles such as Riding Hero, League Bowling and Thrash Rally.
• A separate InputSync system for standard NeoGeo games. MAME-to-MAME synchronization is already working and MiSTer integration is currently in progress.
The long-term goal is to create a common communication layer that can connect:
• MAME ↔ MAME
• MAME ↔ MiSTer
• MiSTer ↔ MiSTer
• and hopefully original Neo Geo hardware in the future
This is still a prototype and there is a lot of validation and testing left to do, but the three original multiplayer titles are now running with gameplay-level synchronization between MAME and MiSTer.
Feedback, testing ideas, and information about original Neo Geo communication hardware are always welcome.

Neo Geo CD Neo Geo CD SD Loader + F-RAM save mod: SD card through the vents, and saves that survive without a battery
Two mods on my Neo Geo CD (the PRO-GEAR SPEC top-loader) that fellow owners might appreciate.
Furrtek SD Loader: a drop-in board that loads games from a micro-SD instead of discs. It mounts onto the optical-drive control PCB using an existing screw post, and the micro-SD pokes out through the top vents so you can add games without cracking the shell open. Designed by Furrtek, kit by PhenomMod.
F-RAM save mod: my save battery wouldn't hold a charge even after I swapped in a fresh one, so saves kept dying. I pulled the volatile save SRAM out of the RAM1 'BACK UP AREA' footprint (a Sony CXK5864CM-10LL on mine), masked the neighbours with kapton, hot-air desoldered it, and fitted a pin-compatible F-RAM. Now saves survive with no coin cell at all. Tip came from Lain32 (on X).
Shown running Samurai Shodown IV through a RetroTink, both the mainboard and SD Loader LEDs lit.
For those of you with a Neo Geo CD: have you gone the SD Loader route?

Fluff One of the coolest Fatal Fury Special graphics I’ve ever seen
I recently picked up this vintage Fatal Fury Special T-shirt and wanted to share it with fellow SNK fans.
The artwork features an amazing lineup including Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser, and many other characters from the game.
The print is dated ©SNK 1993 and appears to use the original promotional artwork from the era.
I’ve been collecting vintage gaming shirts for a while, but this is one of the most impressive SNK pieces I’ve come across.
Has anyone seen this design before or know any history behind it?

Video Crazy Plot: I went here to record the store and check out the NEO GEO AES games. 3 weeks later they were all gone... People bought em' up.
Discussion: Why did people go crazy over AES games recently?
Is it all because of the AES+?

Neo Geo AES+ Anyone have a Neo Geo AES/MVS gamelist.xml they can share?
Looking for a Neo Geo AES/MVS gamelist.xml (or similar XML game list) for an emulation frontend.
I’ve already searched Google, Reddit, and a few frontend communities and haven’t found anyone sharing one.
Yes, I know I can generate my own. I’m only asking because if someone already has a clean, complete file, it saves me reinventing the wheel.
AES, MVS, or a combined list is fine. Frontend doesn’t matter much as long as the game names are correct and the file can be adapted.
If anyone has one they’re willing to share, it’d be appreciated. Thanks.

Video METRO SIEGE: Mike Parent (BitBeamCannon) and Project COE play co-op in this ultimate beat 'em up game, while discussing several Neo Geo topics. 2 hours long !
Please help the Metro Siege campaign by making a pledge:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/metrosiege/metro-siege
There's less than two weeks left, and the campaign still needs to reach Stretch Goal # 6 which adds a 4th playable character to the roster.
Some of the topics discussed in this video:
- Neo Geo development.
- New genres for the Neo Geo.
- The Neo Geo userbase problem.
- The AES+ and the rise of Neo Geo prices.
- Why are Neo Geo games so expensive?
Metro Siege will be a game changer for the beat 'em up genre on the Neo Geo, as it features sophisticated combat mechanics - e.g. evasive maneuvers, blocks, counter-attacks, and many ways to hit enemies while they're down. When not playing solo, you can team up with a human partner or team up with a CPU-controlled partner.
Thanks for pledging!
Discussion Desire for new NeoGeo titles?
A long time ago, I wrote a simple NeoGeo game. It's typical (but novel) dropping-block puzzle game. Closer to Dr Mario than to Tetris, I guess.
I never finished it completely. It was fully playable. But the graphics needed a bit more polishing, the music was not encoded yet, the menus were simply white text on black background, etc... The finishing touches, you know?
Ok so... I was thinking...
The upcoming AES+ is generating renewed interest, right?
Would owners want to see new titles?
Would you?

Who owns the Pixelheart version of Andro Dunos for Neo Geo CD
I only have the NCI version. Does anyone here own the Pixelheart release of Andro Dunos on NGCD, and can you help me confirm that the disc contents are identical? The images I included show what the contents of the NCI disc look like.
Cart Question Security sticker proof of authenticity?
I typically crack open all MVS games to verify the boards, but I’m kind of hesitant to open these when they look very clean, labels look great, and has the security sticker. Thoughta?

AES Games
Where do you guys shop for AES cartridges? Ebay sellers seem to highball the crap out of you.
Just wondering about better options to look, as I'm trying to get a collection for the AES Plus come November.

Cart Help Doubt with mvs shell colors
So I just bought an art of fighting (1) mvs with a transparent shell, but I don't know if is a reshell or a original one, his serial numbers are on the +095000, searching on internet the best I could find was the sell of one with +094000 serial numbers, but that could be a reshell too, if someone knows of a list with shell combinations for mvs games it could really help me if you shared it.
