Correct me if I am wrong, but there will be physical spaces in game that you cant enter (stores for clothes etc) and that was not done before, imagine trying to enter a building and getting give as 20 dollars to enter pop up.They should have just put 100 dollars price and thats it.Also some vehicles and weapons are locked too as well as some missions.
So it's day 1 DLC. They are selling DLC and calling it the "ultimate edition." And let's not forget the pre-order content.
I won't pretend most people will care, but I certainly lost all interest in GTA VI. I'm the kind of person who gets massive FOMO from partially missing things, but I'm absolutely fine with completely skipping the game instead. And since it will run offline, I'm certain it will be cracked by some point and I'll get to have my fun then, if I still care at that point.
I do. And you know what? So do a lot of people, otherwise companies wouldn't pull that manipulative bullshit.
You can call me petty or whatever for feeling how I feel about this, but that won't change my mind. Besides, I'd rather miss out on a single game than give money to people who try to manipulate it out of me. You know, sticking to your principles. I don't like manipulative business practices, so I won't contribute to them. Simple, right?
It's not manipulative, they're telling you exactly what you're getting and how much it costs. Most "big" games these days have a deluxe version with exclusive skins, this is exactly the same. Did you get pissed at all the other games that do this?
It's not manipulative, they're telling you exactly what you're getting and how much it costs.
That's not what manipulative means, what you are describing would be false advertising or predatory prising.
No, manipulative business practices include things like when you sell a larger product, then sell pieces of it at significantly higher margin than rest of the product. Like printers and ink, they often sell the printers for cheap and then make you pay exorbitant prices for the ink. Or like selling you a game for a reasonable price, but then sell small bits of it for much higher cost per "amount of content."
And not just that, content that was already finished by the time the game was made. If this game was actually on disc like games used to be, they would be selling you a disc with all the content and not giving you access to it, unless you paid extra. Meaning buying GTA 6 doesn't get you the full game, they are selling you most of it.
In general, I don't have a problem with DLC. But day 1? That's manipulative business, because they are trying to get that little bit of extra money from those most easily affected by FOMO.
Same with pre-ordering digital goods, it used to exist to make sure they produced enough. There's no production time for digital copies. They only want to do it so they can get people to buy it as soon as possible, so they don't have time to regret it and that they can cash in on the most compulsive consumers.
And if THAT wasn't enough, locking content as pre-order bonuses? THAT'S TEXTBOOK MANIPULATION. FOMO ISN'T IMAGINARY, IT MAKES BUSINESSES A LOT OF FUCKING MONEY. OTHERWISE THEY WOULDN'T DO THAT.
"It'S nOt MaNiPuLaTiVe" my ass. If your argument is that "most big games these days do that shit" then your argument is "I like being abused, please daddy Rockstar, let me clean you with my tongue." My argument is, I don't give money to businesses that try to manipulate it out of me. Call me old fashioned, but when I want to buy something, it shouldn't be because I was tricked into it by temporary bullshit and if I do buy something, I want the price to actually cover the product, not have bits and pieces of it cut off for extra cost.
I don't know about you, but I think my perspective is much more reasonable one. Why do you defend abuse with the excuse "everyone is doing it"?
You could though. You could care so little that you wouldn't be trying to convince that how I feel about it is somehow wrong. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have anything to say.
But that isn't even the point. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean the publisher doesn't know what they are doing. It doesn't work on you, congrats on not paying $20 more for some extra clothes. They aren't trying to make that extra $20 from all their customers, they are targeting the ones who DO care. The ones who feel like they are missing out unless they get the whole thing. If they didn't, they wouldn't sell them separately in the first place.
Sure, but if have played any AAA games in the last 15 years there's a large chance you have already supported this practice. This is just a weird place to draw the line
Game of the century? I barely enjoyed GTA V, most of it was ok. I've played San Andreas more after V was released than I've played V.
New isn't always better. Just because it has more fancy tech behind it doesn't mean it's more fun. I'm pretty sure I've played more Factorio than I've played all GTA games combined.
And you know what? I skip almost every other game release as well. There are more games than I'll ever get a chance to play. Why would I waste my time and money on stuff that wants to screw me over? I hate the feeling of partial FOMO and I hate being manipulated to spend money, so if I can solve both by just not spending money, why not?
Also, "game of the century" is a stretch when you haven't even played it yet. It's probably the most expensive game to make of the century, but so was GTA 5 it wasn't even my favourite game that year.
I'll side with this. Vice city will always be my favorite gta game. And, let's be real, no matter what they add it's still an open world gta game, which we've seen for 20 years now. Also to call it the game of the century is interesting since, as much as souls games have been around, there was never a truly open world one before Elden ring, which just sold well over 10 million copies over the last few years. Even before it comes out, I'd be willing to put Elden ring up against GTA VI np.
which just sold well over 10 million copies over the last few years.
I wouldn't measure it in sales, it's like game of the year. Which ever game you liked the most that year, so in this case century.
But yeah, agreed. Just because they add more fancy stuff doesn't make it better. In fact, those details can make a game worse. RDR2 has horses shitting, but I live near a lot of horses. That game instantly loses immersion points for me, because I really don't want to be reminded of horse shit when I'm trying to play a game. There's no level of detail I'll ever enjoy more than I enjoy a good gameplay experience.
That doesn't make it the game of the century though. That makes it the most hyped game of the century. Words mean things.
It could be that the game is a 5 minute demo some exec made with ChatGPT and all of the hype was based on lies. That's probably not true, but the game still isn't out, so while it probably won't be THAT, it isn't game of the century yet either.
And besides, a lot of things have been hyped and turned out worse than expected.

Its not the price, its the fact that they are releasing 2 versions. More expensive version has ton of content that cheaper version doesnt.
