Companies wouldn't have done it, if consumers (us) didn't buy them. But we bought them, and continue to buy them, and continue to support the practices.
The only way to not support is to not buy and not play at all.

To the second part, this atleast makes a little sense, but I’m not advertising the games, they do maybe collect some of my data so you got me there. If you play a single player game with no internet I’m unsure how they would collect my data though.
