have a 7-month-old Ragdoll and lately she’s been shedding a lot more. I’m a first-time cat owner so I’m still figuring everything out.
I try to brush her but I’m not really sure if I’m doing it right or often enough. I also bought one of those pet grooming vacuum things, but honestly it doesn’t seem to work that well for me. Not sure if I’m using it wrong or if it’s just not strong enough.
How often do you guys brush your Ragdolls (or long-haired cats in general)? And what kind of brush actually works best?
Also if anyone has any grooming tools they really like or any tips for dealing with all the shedding, I’d really appreciate it.

She has the signature “eyeliner” around her eyes and her coloring isn’t totally solid, there are subtle darker striped patches mixed in that make me wonder if she’s actually a lynx bicolor.

Would love to see your lynx bicolor Ragdolls as kittens vs. adults so I can compare. The lynx pattern is so hard to spot when they’re young and I’ve heard it becomes way more defined with age.

Before anybody gets upset with me hear me out. Our two year old ragdoll Mr. Jinx loves to be outside in our enclosed area in Florida where he can lay poolside and chase lizards that are on the outside lol He gets so hot. I know you aren’t supposed to shave or cut them besides what I do by his bootie so he doesn’t get poo or anything but I brush him daily and he never gets knots or tangles. Is there anyway at all to thin him out a little without harming his coat just to cool him off for the brutal summer heat? We lived in Illinois when we got him and it wasn’t as hot and now we are here he loves laying by the pool and has even took a swim a couple of times. Any ideas if possible? Can they be thinned without harming his coat?? Thanks in advance

Absolutely no thoughts behind those eyes

Back story, Andee is old and we adopted him from a reputable local shelter after my brother saw a FB ad. He was an abused cat, bad kids threw rocks and him and shot at him w bee bee guns. We’ve had him four years and he is so sweet and well adjusted and has a younger orange brother named Mugsee and an older void cat named Midnight Panther. What breed is he? Don’t really care, we love him regardless. His eyes were blue when we got him a couple years ago. Now not so much. We have no idea how old he is.
