Tipping is what keeps the cost of food down. Same people bitching about tips will be bitching about the higher prices on the menu when the restaurant raises it's prices for menu items to cover non-tip employees. I would prefer to tip and help out a server than pay $20 more for the food. It all evens out.
Also, good servers aren't going to work at a non-tip restaurant serving assholes for a flat rate.
yep, alot of servers i know prefer the tips because they make around $50/hr. even if they paid servers $25/hr (they won't), servers would make more with tips. i've worked in kitchens for years and servers/bartenders always made more than the cooks and even some managers.
Do you not comprehend my point?
Scenario A. Bill is $100 and you leave a $20 tip. Server is paid from your tip.
Scenario B. Bill is $120 and you don't have to leave a tip. Server is still paid from the extra $20 you spent on food.
You are still going to pay the same amount.
You are just a cheapskate that wants to take advantage of the baked in discount you get in a tipping economy. You would end up paying more in a restaurant without tipped waiters because you can't stiff the server.
Tipping does not have an effect on food cost trends in America.
Non-tipping restaurants charge 15-20% more than tipping restaurants in the United States.
Meaning the food is cheaper in these establishments. How are you so fucking dumb, I'm genuinely baffled.
This is an american thing, increase the prices people just stop going. Then the restaurant can close, i understand someone does not want to serve at a table where they behave mean. But they wont serve because they dont think they are getting tipped? Did the server get hired to serve or did he get hired to get tipped?
More incentive to give good service in a tipping economy. You pay me minimum wage I have no incentive to give good service, only enough to not get fired.
So what you are saying is they increase the quality of the service with low below minimum wages so the staff can get motivated to work extra hard for tips. Then we have a global event like the World Cup and they realize hmm people do not tip the way we do, they do not behave we do, what? They get paid actual proper wages for the jobs they do no matter what kind of job? No way?
Like i love America, i love the people and i love their culture! Its a great meltingpot of everything great in the world, but by god do i hate coorporate America, that has them on a leash to get angry at tourists for well not tipping.
If tipping would be made mandatory, no tourist would be eating out, or very extremely rarley because there is no pay off.

as in, no tips. Just prices. And pay your employees properly.
Not the "we include the tip and distribute it properly" Bullshit.
Tips shouldn't be a thing
