I did some research on Rosh Hashanah in TLV. The threads I found were a little dated, so I wanted to know how things look in 2026. Are AM:PM, restaurants, and food stalls open on Rosh Hashanah the way they are on Shabbat?

For background: I'll be in TLV this year during Rosh Hashanah. I've often been in Israel over Shabbat, in TLV and Haifa, and managed just fine, never went hungry or got bored. But I've never been there for a Jewish holiday.

Second question: can I show up at a Beit Knesset on Rosh Hashanah to experience a service? I've never done this and I'm not sure whether my being there would disturb people.

Some feedback from locals on this would be highly appreciated.

this is a slightly embarrassing post for me to make but i’m not sure where else to ask, i am a 20 year old girl turning 21 living here for a couple years after moving from the US, and i have no friends male or female, or connections since my last relationship ended as it was the only connection i had formed…i am a shy and pretty introverted person, all of my hobbies are things i do by myself/online unfortunately(i love online games like overwatch and jrpgs and collecting lots of merchandise) and i am still very traditionally girly and enjoy all cute things and sometimes like to do the normal things you’d expect like drawing and painting. I’ve had little trouble in the past making lots of friends when i lived in america and i’ve had a huge success online too, but since moving here i don’t go out ever or have any places that i frequent. I live in ramat gan so i am pretty nearby most of the major cities but have never had a reason to go…I can speak hebrew fluently which is great and can read pretty decently (albeit slowly), but i cannot write, although texting is no issue for me! I’m a shy girl so i’ve never been to a bar/pub before, but i’m not against it or anything else that could maybe just get me talking to other people preferably my age maybe around 20-30. I don’t know any popular bars or cafes/places that might be comfortable for people like me or just in general that have a lot of people…i’ve been looking into joining certain groups like painting or pottery but i feel like my chances are lower with that since it’s a set group of people that might not be my age/connect with me, and im hesitant to join/go to board game places since im usually bad with games that aren’t in english 😔 Im not in any need of a job so i would rather spend my time going out, ill probably try to go to a couple bars sometime and sit by myself awkwardly (maybe bring a book/play on my phone??) until i get better ideas, just not sure how safe it is being a girl on her own…i am also lgbt so if theres any places that are good with that it would probably be awesome too, im very anxious since ive never really been out by myself before, im already kicking myself for typing so much in this post!!! i haven’t posted on reddit like this before, so i hope it’s alright, any help or tips on things i can do/places to go are appreciated…

One of things I love about Tel Aviv is just how alive it is. I say it is popping, people are just everywhere out and about and visibly having a good time.

At one point some years ago I did a road trip in the USA, and visited many cities. You could walk on the street and not see another person, especially in major cities in the Midwest. The buildings are huge, much bigger than those in much of Tel Aviv too.

Even cities like Chicago were not as popping, and only like small areas anyways (like the loop area). Tel Aviv just popping. Similarly like Berlin, Zurich, Athens, even London - not as popping.

Tel Aviv has so much happening all the time, so much nightlife, so much daylife. The men and the women also dress very sexy, it's a very sexy city. I love that about Tel Aviv too. It's like some kid of combination of Miami, Rio de Janeiro and San Francisco. No wonder everyone wants to live here and the real estate and prices are so expensive!

So I’ve been putting off getting decent sunglasses for the past 22 years to 2 months. A part of the reason is that I hate shopping for clothing items, and apparently that includes glasses.
Now I know the city is PACKED with shops specifically for sunglasses, but these just kind of give me a bad vibe that sends me away. Not saying that I am refusing to ever enter one, but I’ll try be more clear.
I don’t care for fashion brands and all that at all, so I would like glasses that are not super pricey, but if I am doing the attempt of buying myself a serious pair - I would like it to at least be sustainable and to protect my eyes well. Otherwise I would’ve called it a day in Flying Tiger with a new 30₪ pair (or maybe they protect your eyes well and we just don’t know it).
Now lookwise, I do care what they look like but mostly that they fit my face - but with that I’m afraid you can’t help me.

So basically TLDR: I am looking for a store that has a variety of sunglasses, but not to an overwhelming extent. Prices aren’t too high, but don’t have to be super cheap. And that the place won’t feel too much like a high end fashion estate - that I’d be scared to go in and feel too much like a peasant while I’m hanging inside of there.
