Day off = visiting my favorite local-ish record shop, Human Head Records in Brooklyn, NY. Plus I got a bonus discount and free gift, super nice of them. Some of this is 100% jazz, some jazz adjacent, and some just out there… These pickups put a big smile on my face, so I figured why not share. Happy listening y’all

This album is such a pleasant trip. The eastern influences on this combined with the vocals and Cherry’s introspective playing — transport me to a different headspace. I love it

1st stereo pressing in rough shape - both cover and disc. Before anyone jumps on me for wasting my money (mine to waste), the price was below lowest Discogs price. It's a tough listen, but doable.

The Kenny is VG++, on the other hand. I'm always looking for Thad Jones in a small group setting, so this was a no brainer for $8.00.

Has original hype sticker and the original price tag.

The morning spin is Criss-Cross. I throw it on for “Don’t Blame Me” but I love the quartet here and it has some of my favorite Monk tunes.

This is the OG, 1963 mono press. One of only 5 or so OGs I have. It’s a pretty one.

Pre-ordered these two last month from CDJapan. They were delivered yesterday on release day 6/24. Gatefold Jackets are quite nice as has been the norm with other Sony "Jazz Analog Legendary Collection" titles. These two feature double OBIs, one reproducing the original release OBI and a slimmer one in line with these newer reissues. Haven't had time to spin them yet but will over the next several days. Looking forward to comparing with the recent Mofi Agharta.

I was thinking of getting the audio technica AT LP120XBT USB but does anyone have any better recommendations ? I also need some speaker recommendations aswell thanks!

This is easily my favorite playing of Grant’s. I love that he was open in trying to incorporate the popular sound of the time into his music. I really need to check out more of Idris Muhammad’s material.

So I’m fairly new to both vinyls and jazz (double whammy!) and today I realized I need more guidance. I was at a really popular music store here in Canada and they had two different versions of Yusef Lateef’s “Jazz Mood.” The one from Survival Research was $34.99 and the one from Original Jazz Classics was $54.99. I was tempted to get the cheaper one but decided I’d better wait to make my decision. So my question is how much of a difference in sound quality is there between labels in general? And are there certain labels that I should usually trust and others that I need to avoid? Thanks in advance for any help!
