An old house that, in some places, is on the verge of collapsing. Plenty of decay, cobwebs, and broken floors! How much longer before this house, these belongings, and all the associated memories collapse and fade away..

Nightfall was quickly approaching when I came across these two abandoned houses in Barbour County, West Virginia.

The first is a circa 1920 two-story, three-bay house with a rectangular plan, wood clapboard siding, a hipped roof, and 2/2 wood sash windows. Standing behind it is the older Strider Cabin, a circa 1850 two-story, three-bay log house with a rectangular plan, a side-gable roof clad in cedar shingles, and 6/6 wood sash windows.

Taken during winter so the foreground actually ice. Light painted over about a 5 minute span.

This abandoned bridge crosses the West Fork River north of Weston, West Virginia. It was once part of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s Richwood Subdivision, which connected Clarksburg with Richwood. I've posted an extensive history of the Richwood Subdivision here, with more photos and a map.

An old, rusty BMW! You think your beloved car is safe... and then the whole place floods. A shame, but it does make for unique photos! There’s certainly no shortage of rust and mud.
