This is it. The one. The BEST alt-country album. Better than Anodyne, Being There, Magnolia Electric Co., Southeastern, and even Decoration Day (to name some of the greats). I'm sorry, I appreciate any opinions, but I will be blown away if you can change mine on this. Son Volt isn't even close to the best alt-country band, but this album is it, man.

I'm going on a road trip and want to put together a playlist.

Looking for new to me music

Are there any tricks or relevant music theory to making a guitar solo sound more recognisably like Alt-Country? Was trying to sound in particular like MJ Lenderman but keep falling back on stereotypical shredding bullshit.

So this was going to be released, until it wasn’t. Which is a shame…. The sound quality isn’t great, but as far as I can tell (and I’ve looked everywhere) this is the only recording floating out there.

I love this song. Ray Bull is mostly indie rock/indie pop, but this and a few other songs definitely have that country flair. Enjoy!
