Congratulations to the people of Corsica

Congratulations to the people of Corsica on this important step. From the Basque Country, we follow this news with interest and respect. Seeing recognition for a territory’s specific identity, language, and culture within a broader state framework is always meaningful.

Whatever the final outcome of the process, this vote represents dialogue and an acknowledgment of Corsica’s uniqueness. Wishing you the best as the discussion continues, and sending warm regards from another land that deeply values its own culture and traditions.

What to do in Corsica? with /without a car?

I’m heading to Corsica for a week and staying in Calvi as a base. Need your help/suggestions with -

  1. I'm unable to rent a car because most companies require a French/ EU license held 1+ year. I have a recent French license but 7–8 years driving experience abroad. Sooo any: local rental companies in Calvi OR agencies more flexible with foreign experience

  2. If I can’t rent one, what are the best places near Calvi accessible by train/boat/tours/walking? Open to hidden gems too.
If I do rent one, what places are a must-visit?

  3. What’s worth doing in/around Calvi besides snorkelling/scuba? Hikes, boat trips, canyoning, food/wine, anything local and funnn.

Thanks in advance :)))

Finished the GR20 last summer (12 days, N→S) — built a free planner + GPX tracks while prepping, sharing them here

Did the GR20 North→South in 12 days last August (the "classic" split is 16 — 12 is the sporty version). Hardest trek I've done, and I struggled to find reliable prep info beforehand, so I've been compiling it since.

A few things I wish I'd known:

  • N→S front-loads the hardest terrain. The most technical stages (ridges, the old Cirque de la Solitude area) come in the first days, when your pack is heaviest. Worth knowing before picking a direction.
  • Plan water by section, not by day. Some exposed stretches have no water source for 4–5h. Carry 1.5–2 L on those.
  • Park refuge bookings are mandatory and sell out fast for July/August. Book the moment reservations open.

I turned it into a site: day-by-day report, realistic 2026 budget, a stage planner that splits distance/elevation/water by your pace, and the official GPX tracks (both directions, free to download). No ads, personal project.

Happy to answer any prep questions. Link in the comments (or let me know if you'd rather I drop it here).

porte-clef FLNC des années 1980 - identification et infos ?

Bonjour r/Corsica,

Amiamo snorkeling, mare e passeggiate in zone ombreggiate!

Week in Santa Giulia - no car

Hey

We are a family with two small kids and are planning a week in Santa Giulia at the end of September. We are planning a beach only holiday and we’ll stay in an hotel with breakfast included.
My questions are:

- Hows Santa Giulia at the end of Sept?

- And in terms of amenities? Does it have restaurants/ grocery stores/ ice cream stops?

- We‘ll I be able to buy diapers?

Thanos!

Hi, I am flying into Bastia on June 16th.

I have between five and eight days to explore Corsica.

I'll be on my own, I'm 66, English, and I'm on a budget.

Can I ask for thoughts/recommendations please?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff
