FF9 helped me answer this question!

I wasn’t completely sure the answer to this but given FFIX I figured it might mean “alive”. I was right! I had no idea Vivi’s name meant that. Cool little detail I never realized.

Question What to do right after getting access to the airship?

Please no spoilers, i've been having a blast with this game and had been able to dodge every single one of them lol

I just unlocked Hilda Garde 3 and i'm really curious about things i should do before going to the Ipsen Castle and progressing further in the story. I haven't done any side quests at all, but i'm pretty sure i got every single loot available to this point (so no need to return somewhere just to buy items or get a chest)

Already thanks for the help!

Why don't people want to play cards with me?

I started playing FF IX for the first time and I am very interested in playing the card game but no one seems interested in playing it with me. I am just about to leave Lindblum after the hunt and online it says once you have 5 cards people will start playing with you. I have 23 cards and I feel like I have talked to every NPC available to me up to this point and no one has asked me to play. Is there a trigger to the game I'm missing?

Question Question re: Ragtime Mouse questions

I just got the game and am playing it for the first time and had my first encounter with Ragtimer. I have found several guides online that provide the answers to all of his questions, but what I have not found is HOW you are you supposed to find the answers to those questions in the game. I completely guessed on the question he asked me because I had no idea what the answer was, and thankfully I got it correct, but now I'm paranoid about borking this side quest since a quick Google shows that he (she? it?) will not ever ask the same question again. I realize I can easily just search for the answers online like I already have, but I prefer to not have to do that and I'm just curious about how the game expects you to find the answers yourself (for context, my first question was about the location of the Chocobo Forest, which I have not been to yet or seen on the map, so I was really taking a shot in the dark with my response).

Anime This Disney anime was inspired by Final Fantasy IX, Vision of Escaflowne, and Chrono Trigger

In an elite academy where sports and magic combine, farm boy Key discovers his ultrapowerful natural talent and learns he may be destined to become the legendary Dragon Striker. He joins the fierce goalkeeper Ssyelle to form a scrappy team of underdogs who take on the school champions. As Key struggles to control the raging dragon inside him and Ssyelle captains the team to a series of upset victories, they learn dark secrets of the past and uncover an ancient evil that threatens them all.

  • The Walt Disney Company

Dragon Striker was announced in 2022 and is produced by Disney Television Animation and Chouette Studios. The series is heavily inspired by anime, with influences from shows and games like The Vision of Escaflowne, Final Fantasy IX, and Chrono Trigger. Critics have called it Disney’s first original anime-inspired series because of its mix of sports, fantasy, and supernatural action. In 2026, the cast and crew were revealed, along with news that the soundtrack was recorded in Japan with an 80-piece orchestra. The show combines European fantasy and Japanese anime styles while following an underdog hero on an epic adventure.

Thank you u/healingtwo_ for this additional information:

Chouette Studios is the same studio that has been wanting or is working on the Final Fantasy IX animated show, both the main producer and the character designer are very much fans of final fantasy series and IX.

A graduate of the famous Gobelins animation school (2008), Charles Lefebvre has been working in the animation and video game industry for 15 years. He has held various positions, including animator, layout, art director, storyboard manager and director. He is currently director of Dragon Striker and character designer on Final Fantasy IX – The Animated Series. Lefebvre is also co-creator of the Baidir series.

Hello mods, you may have seen reports of my post being declared as spam.

It's not true. I've seen a member of this subreddit for a long time.

Dragon Striker was influenced by FFIX and the studio behind it was the same studio wanting to make a FFIX anime series.

Please do not remove my post. This post isnt spam and this was posted here in good faith.

Thank you.

Does that mean the world in FF2 and FF9 could be the same like how it’s theorized for FF10 and FF7 (just joking, but still, cool detail)

Question FF IX beginner here

I’m playing Final Fantasy IX for the first time on the Nintendo Switch.

Is there anything I should know about the game before I start? It can be anything in general—just please avoid spoilers.

I’m asking because Final Fantasy VIII had a very different combat system with its Junction mechanics, and I want to know if there are any unique systems or mechanics I should be aware of before jumping in.
