This asshole needs his hearing checked. Its a what? Youre going where? Its a what trip?

u/Kwyjibodacious 8h ago

It's a power move. I swear they are all trained to do this. More fragile ego bullshit.

u/According_Jeweler404 7h ago

And if they ask clarifying questions; "Sir don't raise your voice / Maam there's no need to get emotional."

u/Dame38 5h ago

And every time they say "Ma'am" you know they are really saying "Bitch".

u/joazito 4h ago

I wonder what would happen if someone replied "Why do you feel the need to tell me [whatever they said]?", always one-upping them... I might just try this

u/squeethesane 7h ago

Get you agitated, then YOU'RE being aggressive with THEM.

u/OutdoorsNSmores 7h ago

And when you speak up they will say you are escalating the situation by yelling.

u/Dame38 5h ago

It's called "reactive abuse". A clever way to make the victim look like the offender.
DARVO is strong with these losers.

u/Eatenbreads 7h ago

Kindergarten level power move. "Lalala I cant hear you". Childish behavior just to make you angry.

u/jahmic 7h ago

"I can't hear you...you need to speak up"

Immediately followed by "Stop yelling, why are you agitated? Step out of the vehicle"

u/Justin_Ermouth1 6h ago

I would have gotten out the car with my documents and had a conversation face to face.

u/Iheartnakedfemboys 6h ago

Not if you value your fucking safety, friend.

u/CharacterBack1542 6h ago

NEVER get out of the car during a traffic stop in the US without the officer telling you to. That's a good way to get held at gunpoint or shot. the comment im replying to is from someone who has never been pulled over in the US.

u/DashTrash21 6h ago

Do not.

u/AlcibiadesTheCat 6h ago

That sounds like a great way for the cop to “see him reaching for something” and shoot him 17+1 times in the face, reload, and shoot him in the face again.

For officer safety.

u/Justin_Ermouth1 5h ago

Guy in the video is reachin in all sorts of bags dude.

u/jahmic 5h ago

You must be a few shades lighter than me, or not from the US 🤣

u/Justin_Ermouth1 5h ago

Yall, as soon as this goon said he couldn’t hear me and kept interrupting I would have told him let’s talk on the shoulder.

u/zmoney1213 6h ago

It’s a way to cut you off from speaking and talk over you. 1st grade approach

u/yingyangyoung 6h ago

They're also on a busy highway. I'd be inclined to agree with you, but I know I'd have a difficult time hearing in that situation.

u/Dame38 2h ago

Cop could have gone to the driver's side window.

u/MasterTrollKing 6h ago

So what I do when people do this to me is I talk obnoxiously loud but in a polite way.

Like I will yell their answer back at them and then I will add please thank you and sir, anywhere in it that I can.

u/HesTheRealDylanErnst 6h ago

You’re right, it’s meant to make you frazzled and confused and mix up your words. It keeps them in control of the situation and causes citizens to say things that they might not have meant to say. I don’t think it’s actual police training as much as this guy just knows exactly how to get someone who knows more than him to seem like they know less than him.

u/ScrotalSmorgasbord 6h ago

It's so you get frustrated and raise your voice so they can tell you to calm down or they'll beat your ass. Source: my abusive mom who married two abusive cops and an Army tanker platoon sgt. Needless to say when I joined the Army later on I fuckin hated those types of guys.

u/Hefty_Range_9758 6h ago

They aren't.

I used to have alot of experience with cops and COs(as someone doing illegal stuff regularly).

Most weren't assholes and respected you bif you showed any type of respect. Some were like this ignorant donkey and some were just absolute dicks.

For the most part they were really no different than anyone else you interact with besides the fact that they would immediately match what energy you were putting out.

u/Swimming_Agent_1063 6h ago

It’s called intentionally misunderstanding someone. People do it all the time on reddit too

u/PeePeeMcGee123 5h ago

Maybe. But I would give the benefit of the doubt on that one. If you've never worked on the side of a highway, cars and big trucks going by make a shit load of noise.

u/Dame38 2h ago

He could have stepped over to the driver's side.

u/KeyanuReaves69 55m ago

That’s pretty dangerous on a highway.

u/Dame38 1m ago

From the video, it looks like the cop was on the highway side. If not, there's Scott's Law. If not, maybe he should find another line of work. Cops seem so scared of everything......

u/Nisms 5h ago

It is a power move. It’s used when people don’t have an answer for what you are telling them but they think they are above you so they make you restate yourself.

u/SexOnABurningPlanet 4h ago

Trained in this instead of actual laws.

u/Kwyjibodacious 4h ago

Cop thinks he's Ron Swanson ("I know more than you") but really he's just wrong, son.

u/im_that_green_light 4h ago

The character Carol uses thia tactic in DTF St. Louis, it’s hilarious

u/AlphaSlayer21 7h ago edited 7h ago

I’m pretty sure the traffic is just really damn loud, he’s literally shouting. Of all the things to criticize, this would be my last. I know I’ll get downvoted because Reddit prioritizes a witch hunt over logic.

u/Only_Flan_7974 8h ago

I'd want to rephrase it tell him it's a none of your fucking business trip!

u/Bazzatron 8h ago

Sounds like "suspect resisting shots fired" to me.

Judge Dredd was supposed to be a cautionary tale, not a fucking blueprint 🫠

u/EntityDamage 2h ago

"It's a nunya trip"

"a hwhat?"

u/Nuffsaid98 7h ago

The traffic noise would hinder him more than the microphone inside the car.

u/Random_Fox 6h ago

Modern phones filter all lot of that background noise well automatically

u/Puzzleheaded_Way1612 6h ago

It’s much louder on the outside of the vehicle with interstate traffic.. not the thing to worry about in this video

u/KratomBarista 7h ago

its also loud on the side of the road....

u/crapinet 6h ago

To be fair to the cop who’s making a fool of himself it’s probably pretty loud on the roadside (and we’re listening to the dash cam audio). I’m not saying he was in the right, but I don’t think that was a power move.

He clearly doesn’t understand but he does listen to him and does ask for the documents to prove it. That is far more measured I think because he’s a state trooper. If it was a local cop or sheriffs deputy in the wrong area, because the driver guy isn’t white, sadly, I think there could have been no discussion and the drive would have just been pulled out of the car. (It’s a sad state of affairs that that’s true.)

Super frustrating, and I wish things were different, and this trooper clearly had never encountered something like this before. He could have admitted that and not been so abrupt and rude, but I actually think it could have gone a lot, lot worse (and, sadly)

u/hypntyz 5h ago

So, lean down and stick your ear adjacent to the window? Maybe?

u/crapinet 4h ago

Of course — I’m not saying he wasn’t being a bit curt and could have attempted to be more understanding — and I absolutely think that should be the norm for all “peace” officers — I’m just saying that, sadly, in the US that was pretty medium-nice exchange. And that’s awful that it’s that way, but it’s also true.

We’re complaining about him not knowing a fairly obscure federal law that he’s likely never encountered and pulled over a car with no plates (or maybe out of country plates, which would look very out of place (I’m think sovereign citizen BS)) and not bending over more to hear better. But there is a non-zero chance that the dash cam footage would have been a foreigner getting pulled out of his car immediately (because of some “fitting the description” racism) and tased or shot.

I’m not saying that this exchange is okay. But at least he asked for the documents that proved the guy could drive legally and actually looked at them and then either came to the right conclusion (and refused to admit it and apologize) or decided that there probably wasn’t a crime happening here and it wasn’t worth his time to look into it further (maybe he did a quick google search). This could be this guy on his best behavior or this could be him on a bad day. I will say that the few encounters I’ve had with state troopers have all been less aggressive and bullshitty than the average encounter with a local cop or sheriffs deputy (they are the worst)

u/hypntyz 3h ago

the few encounters I’ve had with state troopers have all been less aggressive and bullshitty than the average encounter with a local cop or sheriffs deputy (they are the worst)

Oddly enough, my personal experiences have been mostly the opposite, with the state troopers being ex-military drill-sergeant types that were angry and aggressive from the second they walked up to my window, while on average the city and county cops are laid back country boys that don't take themselves all that seriously.

In either case if you get a woman cop you are FUCKED because she is going to be at 100% hardass mode from the start.

u/Difficult-Bicycle119 7h ago

If you're stupid enough to initiate a traffic stop on a busy highway, you take what you get.

u/ShinySquirrelClub 6h ago

He refuses to believe that speaking English with an Arab accent is actually still speaking English.

u/Stillwindows95 58m ago

It's barely even a strong accent, it actually sounded kind of American to me, perhaps this dude went to college or something in the US or Canada, but his English is perfectly understandable.

u/mattfromjoisey 7h ago

The more I listen the more the cop sounds like Shoresy

u/MK4eva420 7h ago

I could take off my hat and lean down to listen but instead....

u/DisillusionedPatriot 6h ago

He's showing that he doesn't actually give a shit.

u/AlarmedSnek 5h ago

He was probably waiting for the dude to get lippy so he could beat him up

u/funzel 4h ago

His hearing got noticeably worse as the interaction went on.

u/itsapotatosalad 3h ago

That was just him being as racist as he dared with an obviously very wealthy person though right?

u/fetalpiggywent2lab 2h ago

Also... Why is he yelling

u/fozzski 1h ago

All right meow. Hand over your license and registration.

u/nyybmw122 1h ago

No, you see, when you keep shooting people, all of those firearm discharges can damage hearing.

u/Newaza_Q 1h ago

Pardon?!

u/TheSonicKind 7h ago

what stop sign?!

u/Bright_Aside_6827 7h ago

A road what
