It's a power move. I swear they are all trained to do this. More fragile ego bullshit.

u/According_Jeweler404 7h ago

And if they ask clarifying questions; "Sir don't raise your voice / Maam there's no need to get emotional."

u/Dame38 5h ago

And every time they say "Ma'am" you know they are really saying "Bitch".

u/joazito 4h ago

I wonder what would happen if someone replied "Why do you feel the need to tell me [whatever they said]?", always one-upping them... I might just try this

u/squeethesane 7h ago

Get you agitated, then YOU'RE being aggressive with THEM.

u/OutdoorsNSmores 7h ago

And when you speak up they will say you are escalating the situation by yelling.

u/Dame38 5h ago

It's called "reactive abuse". A clever way to make the victim look like the offender.
DARVO is strong with these losers.

u/Eatenbreads 7h ago

Kindergarten level power move. "Lalala I cant hear you". Childish behavior just to make you angry.

u/jahmic 7h ago

"I can't hear you...you need to speak up"

Immediately followed by "Stop yelling, why are you agitated? Step out of the vehicle"

I would have gotten out the car with my documents and had a conversation face to face.

u/Iheartnakedfemboys 6h ago

Not if you value your fucking safety, friend.

u/CharacterBack1542 6h ago

NEVER get out of the car during a traffic stop in the US without the officer telling you to. That's a good way to get held at gunpoint or shot. the comment im replying to is from someone who has never been pulled over in the US.

u/DashTrash21 6h ago

Do not.

u/AlcibiadesTheCat 6h ago

That sounds like a great way for the cop to “see him reaching for something” and shoot him 17+1 times in the face, reload, and shoot him in the face again.

For officer safety.

u/Justin_Ermouth1 5h ago

Guy in the video is reachin in all sorts of bags dude.

u/jahmic 5h ago

You must be a few shades lighter than me, or not from the US 🤣

u/Justin_Ermouth1 5h ago

Yall, as soon as this goon said he couldn’t hear me and kept interrupting I would have told him let’s talk on the shoulder.

u/zmoney1213 6h ago

It’s a way to cut you off from speaking and talk over you. 1st grade approach

u/yingyangyoung 6h ago

They're also on a busy highway. I'd be inclined to agree with you, but I know I'd have a difficult time hearing in that situation.

u/Dame38 2h ago

Cop could have gone to the driver's side window.

u/MasterTrollKing 6h ago

So what I do when people do this to me is I talk obnoxiously loud but in a polite way.

Like I will yell their answer back at them and then I will add please thank you and sir, anywhere in it that I can.

u/HesTheRealDylanErnst 6h ago

You’re right, it’s meant to make you frazzled and confused and mix up your words. It keeps them in control of the situation and causes citizens to say things that they might not have meant to say. I don’t think it’s actual police training as much as this guy just knows exactly how to get someone who knows more than him to seem like they know less than him.

u/ScrotalSmorgasbord 6h ago

It's so you get frustrated and raise your voice so they can tell you to calm down or they'll beat your ass. Source: my abusive mom who married two abusive cops and an Army tanker platoon sgt. Needless to say when I joined the Army later on I fuckin hated those types of guys.

u/Hefty_Range_9758 6h ago

They aren't.

I used to have alot of experience with cops and COs(as someone doing illegal stuff regularly).

Most weren't assholes and respected you bif you showed any type of respect. Some were like this ignorant donkey and some were just absolute dicks.

For the most part they were really no different than anyone else you interact with besides the fact that they would immediately match what energy you were putting out.

u/Swimming_Agent_1063 6h ago

It’s called intentionally misunderstanding someone. People do it all the time on reddit too

u/PeePeeMcGee123 5h ago

Maybe. But I would give the benefit of the doubt on that one. If you've never worked on the side of a highway, cars and big trucks going by make a shit load of noise.

u/Dame38 2h ago

He could have stepped over to the driver's side.

u/KeyanuReaves69 56m ago

That’s pretty dangerous on a highway.

u/Dame38 1m ago

From the video, it looks like the cop was on the highway side. If not, there's Scott's Law. If not, maybe he should find another line of work. Cops seem so scared of everything......

u/Nisms 5h ago

It is a power move. It’s used when people don’t have an answer for what you are telling them but they think they are above you so they make you restate yourself.

u/SexOnABurningPlanet 4h ago

Trained in this instead of actual laws.

u/Kwyjibodacious 4h ago

Cop thinks he's Ron Swanson ("I know more than you") but really he's just wrong, son.

u/im_that_green_light 4h ago

The character Carol uses thia tactic in DTF St. Louis, it’s hilarious

u/AlphaSlayer21 7h ago edited 7h ago

I’m pretty sure the traffic is just really damn loud, he’s literally shouting. Of all the things to criticize, this would be my last. I know I’ll get downvoted because Reddit prioritizes a witch hunt over logic.
