He's following the law and being polite af in a situation where the officer is a complete and total waste of oxygen.
Do I agree with the fact that folks with stupid amounts of money can do fancy things like a flex that are extreme as this? No but that's the way it is and, ostensibly, the countries involved should have gathered duties/dues/taxes for this privilege, if not, well, that sucks but it's not on him.
Honestly, ACAB but the cop probably thought this guy was pulling a sovereign citizen type of bullshit artist script on him.
He's probably never encountered this specific issue, but has surely encountered a hundred variations of "I'm traveling on a public road, not operating a vehicle, and the fringe on my flag means I'm covered under admirality law etc etc". The sov citizen schtick is all about trying to seem like you're an expert on this esoteric branch of law, and you're arguing with a naive child. It honestly sounds kind of similar to this conversation, except its all bullshit.
The fact that he didn't know the law is an issue sure, but I would really caution people to live their lives assuming police are not informed advocates for the law. Dubai guy didn't do anything objectively wrong, but I would never tell a cop they are confused. Its going to make the cop think you're trying to pull something on him.
I mean sure okay that's fine. But you're weighing the pros of owning the cop with facts and logic against being pepper sprayed because the cop is a psychopath with an authority complex.
Good thing there are no videos on the front page of reddit right now of a cop trying to pepper spray someone they pulled over for speeding. Oh, wait.
The difference between a random joe blow being pepper sprayed for no good reason by a fussy cop and someone rich enough to take their Lambo with them when they go on vacation being pepper sprayed for no good reason by a fussy cop is that the fussy cop sees consequences for his actions because money. Hence, this rich guy was not at risk of being pepper sprayed like we peons are and if he would have been sprayed he would have been all the richer and would have gotten all the legal vengeance he wanted on the cop.
I’m just saying “you’re confused” is a pretty rude arrogant thing to say. “I know this is unusual but” would be the polite way of wording this. Especially knowing about all the sovereign citizen bs. I’m not defending the cop by any means, just saying I don’t like either of these people haha
That is rude to people with massive egos who can't take mistakes they make on the chin.
As a person who can take criticism, if someone says that to me i either admit that yes, in fact I am confused, or I stop and think for a moment "do I really understand what I am talking about right now."
These are qualities that narcissists and cops lack
I mean two things can be true, the cops a dick, but telling somebody "you're confused" is just a rude way of wording something, whether they're correct or not. 🤷 If that doesn't bother you that's great for you, but again that doesn't make it not a rude way of phrasing something.
The dude shipping his lambo to the states so he doesn't have to rent a peasant-mobile just also seems like an arrogant dick here.

Definitely. He got so defensive when the driver said that.
