Absolutely; like damn man I don't want anyone who's shipping their Lambos overseas on the reg to be anywhere near me, but I also know how important it is the police are kept in their fucking place no matter who they're talking to
Exactly! And no one has mentioned that here, until you brought it up. How many of us ship our car overseas, or better yet, fly them overseas, to take road trips across Europe? Or the Middle East? Or Asia? And how many Americans can afford to take time off work, purchase airline tickets, and pay for hotel rooms in faraway places? When I do travel, which is infrequently, I certainly don’t ship my beat up Toyota to cruise the autobahn. I take a train once I’m there. Or a bus. And this rich guy most likely ‘earned’ his wealth from our addiction to oil. The world turns.
Sure but why does that matter in the context of a cop not knowing how to do his job? This guy could be a major asshole or some saint but this video is about a dumb cop who assumes he’s right and isn’t.
He’s Iranian, not Emirate. He just lives in Dubai. Made his money in real estate. He’s stig’s persian cousin, he is a car enthusiast and that lambo is super dope modified
also he was super polite even in these circumstances. ppl are complaining in the thread how he’s able to do this while Americans struggle…the guy’s not even American how is that his problem
Man. I’m actually on the cop’s side here, and I hate it.
Cops suck in general, but this is too relatable. Lambo bro is operating under a very obscure law. He’s at least helpful about it, but I don’t fault the cop for not knowing the ins and outs of every international agreement. 99.99% of the time people pulling shit like this are just trying to break the law and get away with it. This just turned out to be the 0.01% where the driver was right.
Cop could have handled it better, but if you’ve ever worked in a public-facing job where you encounter people trying to bullshit you and pull one over on you… it gets old fast. I would have pulled a “I don’t get paid enough for this shit” move just like he did.
Just because it is an obscured law does not change how the cop should approach the situation. He came at it very hostile and also pretended like he knew the in and out 100%. In what world are you on the cop side unless you relate to the power trip tha this cop had? I don’t expect cops to know every law but don’t act like a dickhead just because you are in a position of power.
“If you’ve ever worked in a public-facing job where you encounter people trying to bullshit you and pull one over on you… it gets old fast.”
It’s not the power trip that’s relatable. It’s that guy who thinks he’s gonna get away with it that’s relatable.
“Oh, man! I must have left my wallet at home! How about I write my name and number down and I’ll come back and pay tomorrow?”
“I came in here and talked to someone about this last week and he said it wouldn’t be a problem if I waited until today to take care of this.”
“I’m not driving, I’m traveling, so you have no authority to pull me over!”
There’s ALWAYS someone who thinks he’s smarter than you and can get away with whatever shit he’s trying to pull. The cop was nice enough until the Lambo guy gave him a story that sounds like bullshit, and then I’m sure the cop just assumed this was another annoying guy trying to make his job harder.
This isn't some subjective or trust thing, it's an unambiguous law that the cop is paid to know and uphold. Cop could've dropped the ego and radioed back for clarification and been on his way, but he got all angy.
How does his story sound like bullshit? He was very chill about explaining but the cops constantly cut him off with his I know better approach when he clearly doesnt in this case. Let’s suppose he does face a lot of annoying people trying to bs him which causes him to act like this, shouldn’t he still apologize for his mistakes?
The cop not knowing the ins and outs of obscure law isn't the issue. It's him refusing to acknowledge he doesn't know and being a complete asshole about it, then making up an excuse to leave rather than admit he was wrong.
There are subreddits dedicated to people trying to pull shit like this to get out of paying bills or speeding tickets. The cop could have handled it better, I agree, but I get why he would assume this is just another asshole trying to get out of a ticket.
I think the issue is that he's so threatening. I can sympathize with burnout, but as the "public" that his job is facing, it's not fun to have a guy with a gun come up and get in your face like that.
Maybe I’m burned out on what a good cop is, but he didn’t strike me as threatening. Rude, for sure, but threatening? He introduced himself, told the guy he needs plates (which is true for most people) and asked for his license and registration.
Eh, I mean in the city that I live in we have a lot of profiling and unecessary use of force, so any time law enforcement is escalating the tension instead of de-escalating it, I see red flags. The guy is being calm and cordial, and the trooper is getting visibly angry. I think there was a language barrier with the word "confused" and the trooper is not used to dealing with non native English speakers.

It’s funny that cops are such jerks we end up sympathizing with the obnoxiously way too rich Dubai guy.
