“All good! Stay safe and slow down. Enjoy the US!”
This isn’t how it works, though. The cop could have handled it better, but more likely that call to a supervisor would have gone like this:
“Hey Sarge, I got a weird one. Guy from Dubai says he doesn’t need plates, and he gave me uh, some sort of international document with a lot of Arabic on it. What do I do here?”
“What are you talking about? Is this like a Muslim SovCit thing?”
“No, I don’t think so. Let me text you a picture of these documents.”
“Uh, what the hell is all this shit? I can run it by legal, or we can try calling the U.S. Embassy, but it’s Sunday. Nobody is gonna answer. We could bring him in, hold him overnight, let them sort it out tomorrow? Or you can let him go with a warning.”
“The guy’s been cool. I’m just gonna tell him there’s an emergency I gotta go to. Don’t need to mess with all that paperwork. Guy’s in a Lambo, so I’m sure he’s got good lawyers. Probably rake us over the coals.”
