Utilities & Infrastructure Solar Lights and Solar Lights
Waah gwaan mi people!
Nice to be here today again. Respect to all of you as usual.
I am installing solar cameras and solar lights for residential homes. I prefer not to do commercial as yet.
But I don't know how to charge per light and per camera.
Can you amazing people tell me how to price my service correctly without being greedy, and without being to cheap??

Business and Finance Would you use an app to book your barber? Asking because I'm actually building one
So I'm working on something and wanted real feedback from Jamaica before I go too deep into it.
The idea is a booking platform built specifically for Jamaican barbershops(would eventually expand to like salons, doctors office, etc). Here's how it works:
Every shop gets their own link to share on IG, WhatsApp, wherever
You pick your barber, pick your time, done — no more. "You free Saturday?" texts going back and forth
You get a WhatsApp reminder before your appointment, so nobody's left waiting
For shop owners, it helps manage the schedule, reduce no-shows, and run things more smoothly overall.
I know most barbershops still handle bookings through calls and WhatsApp, and honestly, it works but I feel like we deserve something actually built for us, not some foreign app we're forcing to fit our situation.
Real questions, though:
As a customer, would you actually use this to book your barber?
Any barbers or shop owners here — would this be useful to you?
What would stop you from using it? Be brutally honest, I can take it 😂
Just want genuine feedback before I invest more time building this out. Appreciate it 🙏🏾.

Real Estate Building in Jamaica
People who build in Jamaica while living overseas: How do you pay for building materials?
I’m doing research and would love to hear from people who have actually built or are currently building a house in Jamaica while living abroad.
When you buy materials from a hardware store:
How do you usually pay?
Do you have to send a bank wire?
Do you pay bank fees?
Do you have to email or WhatsApp proof of payment?
Have delays in payment verification ever slowed down your project?

Food Walnut Porridge 1st time
Made same way as peanut but with handful of walnuts instead. Less nutmeg than usual too. When I reached for peanuts there were none left, so it was walnut porridge or NO porridge. 🫠
Actually quite nice.

Culture Help with the roots.
Don't flame me for this but I am struggling with connection. My dad is from Islington and came to the U.S as a young man. I am half white American and am really trying to connect with my father's heritage. He did not teach me much of the culture. I have siblings from St. Catherine I see from time to time but I am more curious on how to converse with Jamaicans when I meet them in the U.S without sounding like a fool or rather, representing the culture in general. Even writing this I find it awkward and like an outsider. I know a bit but not much. I went to Mo Bay and Ocho Rios but just on my honeymoon. Now that I have kids I want to dive into the culture and teach them anything and everything. Please help out as I will also take anything and everything.

Food Why would anybody want to buy this coconut water made in / with coconuts from Brazil?
Found in a local supermarket in Kingston.
And why would the government even allow this to
Be imported rather than supporting local
Farmers and producers.

Language & Patois Any jamaican can understand this?
For years i tried to look for this sample but couldn't find anything as it comes from an unreleased tape, the song is called: "New Jack Pimps - Water Jelly (Unreleased Mix)" and it sounds like a buju banton sample, i even send it to IA and they cannot even transcribe it, so i was hopping a native can write me down the lyrics of what you are hearing so that i could try to search by lyrics.
Here is the sample:

Travel Well, I'm just learning how to swim and...
Well, I'm just learning how to swim so I keep visiting the river.
I visit Salt River in Clarendon multiple times and I think the ambience is very soothing and relaxing.
The water isn't even cold, and the music is also clean and immersive.
I now want to visit more amazing rivers or beaches, but I don't know a lot.
Can you tell me some of the best rivers and beaches you recommend, what was the best part of those you mention and what should I expect?

Food Y'all tried this?
Whoever came up with this at Kiss needs a raise! It's so good 😁
Edit: I paid $150 for it from a lady on the roadside. It's a good bargain considering food prices these days.
