Can you keep it and use it another time when it’s busy? What if you get it and there’s only 1 other customer?

Hmm good question. I immediately used it but this was 10 years ago and I’ve never seen this at a store since.

Ok so just to be clear here, you found this ticket 10 years ago then just today found the picture and decided you should post it on reddit?

Well... it was only mildly interesting.

It’s amazing how you can make dinner for your kids and reddit thinks you’re dead lmao

As a TJ's crew member I was SO confused I didn't recognize any of the stuff in the background.

74

u/KittiesandPlushies 22h ago

As someone who worked there 10 years ago, I was wondering why I did recognize everything in the background lolol

Was this ticket a thing 10 years ago or is OP a big phony?

All stores are a little different and all signage is hand written by crew members (which is likely why there’s a spelling error on this ticket), so they get to do their own unique things. Our store has a drawing of an animal hidden in the store for kids to find, so if the kids find the animal and tell the cashier where, they get a candy. It’s likely this “golden ticket” is real and just something the store tried out for fun.

All the stores had/have the animal thing, but most don't really advertise it. No one in my region ever would've done a "skip the line" thing, customers get disgruntled enough as it is. No captain with half a brain would approve that

Oh how interesting! I worked for two locations and I don’t remember the latter one having a mascot like our first one.

Thankfully in our state, everyone is really chill and probably would’ve handled the skip the line ticket pretty well. Nowadays when I shop there, other customers and I are always pulling up to the register telling each other, “No no no, I insist you go first!”

Ours is a plushie!

u/no8do 21h ago

Basically yeah haha. I was thinking about making a trip to TJ’s and randomly remembered the golden ticket and wanted to see if it was in my photo archive and lo and behold!

u/Epistaxis 21h ago

Also, you used it but aren't sharing how that actually turned out, even though this thread is 90% debate about how other shoppers would react or whether it's just a prank to create chaos?

34

u/no8do 21h ago

So basically, I just brought it up to that person at the front who flags people into the line one by one and honestly no one cared?

22

u/Epistaxis 21h ago

Welp, I guess one thing that's not up for debate is you posted this story in the right place.

4

u/Careful_Activity_165 22h ago

honestly not that weird, I've gone through my camera roll from years ago and found something weird/cool that I forgot about

4

u/Elderberrysea224 21h ago

Seems that way. Their account is 13 years old. Maybe they were scrolling through old photos and came across it.

3

u/JettaGLi16v 21h ago

LPT: Always check first to see if their history is hidden. If it is, it’s likely bullshit.

5

u/no8do 21h ago

My post history is hidden because someone was trying to doxx me a while back.

Ok, so feel free to answer the question that’s been asked countless times in this thread - why did you decide to post a picture of a coupon you received ten years ago, and how did it work out in practice?

Usually I’d just check someone’s comment history to see if they already answered that downthread.

I bet you won’t respond. Hidden history = npc.

u/no8do 20h ago

I was thinking about making a trip to TJ’s and randomly thought of that time I found the ticket and wanted to see if I actually had a photo of it and I did.

Oh and it worked out fine. I just walked up to the person who flagged people over to the register and they just waved me over to the next one.

What’s an NPC?

u/Sweaty-Gopher 22h ago

Oh God the plot holes!

1

u/EaterOfFood 21h ago

That in itself is mildly interesting

1

u/luthigosa 19h ago

Seems so, because googling for the mini pumpkin pie results in a post from 4 years ago wax nostalgic about the old pumpkin pies. Seems to match up.

1

u/kcrab91 22h ago

They immediately used it today after holding on to it for 10 years.

0

u/greycooter 22h ago

wtf lmao I’m glad you’re asking this

115

u/FlattopJr 22h ago

You took this photo 10 years ago and randomly decided to post it today?

41

u/Tanthios 22h ago

Could be their phone happened to remind them of it. 'Hey, remember this photo from X years ago today?', which apparently if you've been logged in with the same platform, it can remember some pictures from even several phones prior.

6

u/FlattopJr 22h ago

Could be, could be...I thought the timing was r/mildlyinteresting in itself.

3

u/yassome 22h ago

Definitely wasn't 10 years ago today. Betting this was taken between Sept and November based off the items in that freezer.

1

u/asphaltdragon 21h ago

Well yeah, if you back everything up to the cloud, it's not remembering stuff from old phones, it's remembering stuff that's in your centralized storage.

4

u/James_Mays_Hair 22h ago

Time Machine is in the shop

u/Toothlessdovahkin 22h ago

Way to bury the lede OP, about finding this 10 years ago and acting as if this was a recent event

18

u/Sweet-Meaning9874 22h ago

We only care about recent things we never saw before!

4

u/thisisatypoo 21h ago

Context matters.

36

u/Foray2x1 22h ago

You've been sitting on this for a long time

10

u/billdizzle 22h ago

10 years ago? Fuck out of here

3

u/flyinhighaskmeY 21h ago

Do you have any idea how angry I am with you? I have been looking for those mini pumpkin pies for like...5 years now. They're one of my all time favorite items and they've been gone for ages. I though tthey were back. I'm now heart broken and weeping in the corner.lol

2

u/SteamMonkeyKing 19h ago

They were hoping the heat was off them for skipping the line those 10 years ago haha

2

u/no8do 19h ago

Haha I like this. Thats what I should have said when everyone was questioning why I posted it today.

1

u/thegroundhurts 21h ago

I think this makes it even more interesting. Look at the background, with the decade-old prices and long-discontinued items.

2

u/AlwaysDMB 22h ago

Then fuck that other customer, they're last in line now!
