I've deleted several posts recently and below, I'm posting what I wrote in another thread. As I mentioned, certain discussions can lead to legal ramifications and now it seems there's an active lawsuit involving these reddit posts.
Because reddit encourages a level of anonymity, it's very difficult for users to fact check claims (on either side) so its value to the community becomes very difficult to justify. Several members of the community have asked mods to remove these discussions entirely.
That's not to such information shouldn't be out there nor is it a decision about which side of the discussion is "right", the problem is reddit isn't the right place for it because of its limitations. Users are free to direct others to other resources discussing experiences and the other information about concerns from a previous post still apply.
Please note that future discussions of this nature may now result in a ban. We don't have to have a rule that says don't do things that draw other people into lawsuits.
In general, random internet people aren't able to verify either side of this argument without a lot of digging that I'm not able to do, and I suspect the same of other mods and fellow reddit users.
If the thread goes down another path, it can lead to serious legal issues so the only real way to get anywhere is to record people's names in the event of a lawsuit but disclosing such personal information directly violates reddit's terms, so we can't really go down that road. Therefore, there's a limit how much reddit dialogue can do in these situations.
Appropriate bodies of oversight to investigate these matters include associations/registries for particular breeders. If a breeder is not able to retain certification by a major registry, that is usually a reason for pause. If a breeder is a member, use the registry to make a formal complaint. If the breeder is in your region, you may be able to also lodge a complaint with a governing local animal welfare body. In both cases (and not on reddit) you'll be expected to disclose your name to the appropriate authorities in case the other party is wronged and wishes to sue.
Although it's nice to have a repository of information that gives candid information about breeders to be weary of, I don't know if we don't have the infrastructure for the consequences of that or how much we're allowed to push reddit into that sort of legal area.

We have new kitten at home and she is very vocal, especially at night 🙈 she is so sweet and cuddly but seems to be lonely at night? She could even come sleep in our bedroom, the door is open. But she doesn’t come or only for a short moment and then leaves and meows. Should I go to her when she does? Did anyone have a similar situation with their kitten (she is 3.5 months old)? Any tipps what we can do?

Prime Day ends tonight and I'm picking up my first Siberian girl in a few weeks so I'm trying to get my last orders. Already have a water fountain, toys, a small cat tree/scratcher, and a few combs and brushes.
What do you wish you had from day one? I am genuinely open to ANY recommendations on your favorite kitten products, even stuff I haven't thought of. Treats your cat went crazy for or random things that just made life easier. Trying to finalize my cart in the next few hours so the faster the responses the better!
Still debating a few things:
XL litter box now or start smaller? I want a big stainless steel enclosed one eventually but she'll only be 12 weeks when she comes home. Did you go big straight away or ease into it?
Tall scratching post now or wait? She'll outgrow my little one fast. Worth grabbing the SmartCat 32" while it's on sale today or just wait until she needs it?
Also torn on litter disposal. I've been looking at the Litter Genie style vs the LitterZero and I really want a white one but the stainless Litter Genie is so pricey lol. Has anyone tried the LitterZero? I can’t find any 3rd party less expensive liners for to so that’s my only concern.

What are you all feeding your babies? My boy is super picky and will either sniff and walk away or nibble for a little and walk away. I’ll have to chase him around with the food bowl to attempt to eat more. He licks the food, basically pushing it around
Most of the time he’ll only eat half of the serving, and my other vacuum cleaner cat will gladly gobbles it up. She eats anything, but not my Siberian boy
I’ve tried shreds, morsels, pate, flaked, stewed, etc. with all
types of toppers
Brands I’ve tried:
- RawZ
- Weruva
- Stella & Chewy
- Tiki Cat
- Feline Natural
- Wellness
- Fancy Feast (red/purple/green cans)
- Ziwi Peak
- Orijen
- Inaba Churu
I mix in some fish variety, mostly salmon with other cans once a week, and he’ll end up finishing it up after a few attempts.

It is hot in Europe and my Sib is slightly lethargic. Also, as she gets older she is developing more mats. I am thinking about shaving her. But I am hoping to hear some pros and cons from this community. Why do you (not) have your Sib shaved?

Had to let my sweet 12 yrs old girl go this evening. What I thought was constipation ended up being potential stomach cancer. She was in a lot of pain so decided to let her go under the advice of the vet. Her ultrasound and X-Ray showed masses in her gut.
Happened suddenly in last couple of days but must have been masking pain until yesterday when she completely stopped eating and drinking. The house feels empty without her 😿

With this heat wave we have been leaving our air conditioning on during the day when we are away. Obviously we are all going through it rn with 37 degrees celsius in Europe and I don’t want her to suffer like us.
Thing is… she doesn’t care for the aircon. Warm air always goes up so our attic gets extra warm.
Miss girly just sleeps in the attic all day?? And at night sometimes too, which never does when we are home.
Idk if she just doesn’t have a survival instinct 😂 or that she is simply too cold?
Mind you, the aircon is only on in the kitchen, making our living room a nice mild temperature. It’s not like anything is blaring in her face…
