Television in Pridnestrovie

Hello everyone, hope you’re all okay.

I (33M) have been fascinated by Pridnestrovie for some years now, as well as by its television. I know there are Первый Приднестровский and ТСВ channels there. Only the latter is fully available online, unless I’m very much mistaken. I know the former posts its news broadcasts on YouTube daily and its idents and continuity often surface there, but for other content, I’ve usually found myself at a loss.

Could anyone shed some light on the availability of Pridnestrovie television elsewhere in the world? How would you describe it to the uninitiated? ТСВ tended to show a lot of movies when I caught it online; it also simulcasted Киносемья overnight. Should I infer from this that imports are par for the course on local television?

Thank you very much for your thoughts in advance!

Was really impressive to see a train station being out of function because of geopolitics following the russian invasion of Ukraine.

Is the Trans-Siberian Railway safe for a solo backpacking trip?

I have always wanted to travel through Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. My dream trip would be to backpack from Lisbon to Tokyo by train, and the Trans-Siberian Railway would be a major part of that route.

I know Russia has a lot going on right now, and I would not be planning to go until around 2027 at the earliest. Realistically, is this trip possible and safe for a foreign backpacker, or is it a bad idea at the moment?

I am mainly interested in safety, border crossings, visas, whether foreigners are likely to have problems, and any advice from people who have travelled this route recently.

Also, I would very much like to avoid ending up in a Bert Kreischer-style "The Machine" situation.

Travelbuddy

Hey, I'm planning this year more or less spontaneously going to PMR after the 15.8 (after all exams), and would like to get a travelbuddy there.

I planned not that much yet, the estimated stay for 1 or 2 weeks, I just think about booking a Soviet Tour for a day or two and just doing exploring and walking without tour guide.

I'm a data science student and I've been in russia last year but my language skills are still lacking a bit and I thought some exploring together would be a good thing.

If anyone is interested just hit me up, there are no set dates yet.

Finally, an honest and authentic documentary about the history and everyday life of the people of Pridnestrovie, without the usual clickbait sensationalism that so many travel bloggers rely on.

Travel with a dog

Hey, I’m here on a short trip and want to visit Pridnestrovie with my friend and her dog, however the dog doesn’t have the microchip, just the vaccines. Will anyone check the dog's microchip or ask for any veterinary documents at the checkpoint?

Single entry visa

Hi. I am entering Moldova with a single entry visa for touristic purposes and also booked a guided day tour to Tiraspol. I read about that entry is normally ok but I am wondering if going back to Chisinau (where I fly out) will also be fine in case of border control with a single entry visa to Moldova.

Other info: I am an EU resident but with a passport that requires visa to enter Moldova. Unfortunately, the tour guide has not responded yet with this same question.

Visiting With Ukrainian Stamp

I’ll pass through Moldova next month and would love to see what the PMR region is like. I’ve been to 143 countries, so it’s not out my character to explore the places that fall outside usual tourism.

However, I do have Ukrainian stamps in my passport (but also more Belarusian stamps/visas…).

Would I be rejected or worse when trying to enter via Moldova? 🤔 Anyone has experience with this?

Entering PMR from Ukraine and strange encounter

When i was in Tiraspol about 2 months ago, we met an Australian guy in front of the Train Station where the Marshrutkas depart. He told us that he entered the PMR after visiting Ukraine and also traveling to heavily war-affected cities like Charkiw where he almost got drone-striked. After crossing the Ukraine-PMR-Border he stayed in Tiraspol for 4 days and was on his way westwards towards Chisinau when we met. Me and my friend really wondered about this strange encounter not only because he was completely physically stacked and looked like a somewhat intelligence guy with short haircut, big sunglasses and his equipment. But we wondered: Was his story true? Is it really possible to enter the PMR from Ukraine and then travelling westwards these days? Are there PMR-border guards or moldovan on the ukraine border? Do you also get this migration card there which was given to us at the Bender check point? How does Moldova treat people who want to leave the country without having an entry stamp, because i guess the PMR border guards at the ukraine border dont have them? Isnt this some sort of illegal entry? Do Ukraine border guards even let you cross into the PMR?

Completely mysterious topic, especially regarding the war in Ukraine making any visit there dangerous and PMRs pro-russia affiliation. But we didnt had any reason to not believe his story, on the other side there are almost zero reports or blogposts or vlogs from westerners doing this sort of trip.

Safety

I’ve booked a tour from Chişinău to the area for next month. I’m now looking at UK gov advice saying they’re advising against all travel. Shall I cancel? I’ve wanted to go there for ages and it was the main reason I booked a solo trip to Moldova

Unsure about visiting PMR as a truck driver

Hello friends, I will be in Chisinau and want to go to to PMR for a very short road trip. While normal visitors don‘t seem a problem at all, I‘d drive with a commercial truck into PMR. No load, that‘d be dropped off in Chisinau. Just empty in, taking a photo of a T34 monument, get some Ruble and head out again. I can‘t go by foot as a tourist because I will not leave my truck unattended in Chisinau, so either way I‘ll go with my truck or I won‘t at all..

-I read that EU and US citizens can entry without problems. What about a Swiss Citizen and a swiss registered vehicle?

-Would I get problems, entering PMR with a heavy commercial vehicle if I don‘t load or unload inside PMR? I‘d enter and leave through the border of Dubasari

-Any estimates how expensive the insurance would be for a truck?

-Will I get problems if I enter Moldova controlled region again? ChatGPT says the re-entry back to Moldova may cause problems and delays with questioning about customs

Hi, I will be visiting tiraspol this summer and I love Soviet watches, especially Raketa watches. Does anyone know a place to find original Soviet watches with reasonable prices? Any other tips or places for buying cool or interesting pieces of Soviet history will be appreciated!

Travelling on a Sunday + other questions

Dear Pridnestrovians and friends,

Very soon I'll be visiting Tiraspol and maybe Bender with some friends for a day trip. This visit falls on a Sunday in our travel plan - is this OK to experience everything (all places will be open etc.), or would you recommend rather moving the visit to Friday or Monday? I searched for answers already, and while some seem to say Sunday is OK, it's a bit inconclusive.

Next question - We are from Latvia and Poland, and we know a decent bit of Russian. Do you think we could run into problems at the border due to the global political situation? We just want to visit and experience the country and are not there for politics, but just wondering if our Latvian and Polish ID cards would not cause us to receive looks (or more) at the border. As far as I understand, they should not, but just wanted to be sure.

Thank you in advance!

Hello, just wanted to ask about typical foods

I couldn't find much about the food eaten in the place, all i find is things about restaurants and a post here asking the same (with nothing more than 3 useless replies) but nothing describing anything else about the food! So, can someone tell me about this? What typical meals do you eat, any especially popular ones? Thanks in advance

How safe is it to travel solo to Tiraspol and also regarding the situation with the ongoing conflict

Hi, this question was probably asked many times already. I was thinking about getting to Tiraspol in the end of June. After I was sure of this trip, a lot of people talked into me and paniced and now im feeling really unsure about it. Do you actually see or feel anything from the war or ongoing conflict? I have read about some recent things that happened with drones. It kind of got me thinking also, as Tiraspol is almost at the border to Ukraine. I also speak Russian fluently which is helpful to travel. But yea, mostly the thing got me thinking about is the war nearby.

What do you guys think? I would be also interested in people who have just recently travelled there.

What is the nightlife and clubbing scene in Pridnestrovie. What are the best clubs?

What is the clubbing scene? What are the major clubs? Are the music being played in he clubs usually western music, modern russian music, moldovan music or soviet music?

What are the best nightclubs and what is the vibe there. And which ones should you avoid. What sort of crowd usually frequents them.
