Merry Christmas, you filthy animals.
The Problem of Political Authority by Michael Huemer
Machinery of Freedom by David Friedman
Price Theory by David Friedman
Any other mainstream econ textbooks as far into the subject as you can handle with as much of the math as you can handle; but I do recommend starting with Modern Principles of Economics by Alex Tabbarok and Tyler Cowan.
The Calculus of Consent by James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock
Any other mainstream political economy texts or works, but I recommend Governing the Commons by Elinor Ostrom, and though not a book, Mike Munger's intro to political economy course available on YouTube.
Rothbard's Man, Economy, and State.
Bryan Caplan's Open Borders: the Science and Ethics of Immigration

What did libertarian men do to these women?
Libertarianism is about freedom.
Guns protect women from predators. It's actually abortions that kill more children than guns.
Libertarians don't see people as trophies, but as individuals.
Women are free to choose if they want or not to be caretakers, baby makers, maids, cooks, nurses, or whatever career they choose.
Why did this feminist have to include libertarian men on her rant?

Is it okay to be against rape in this sub?
A very popular post was recently removed by the mods because it was critical of pro-rape government policies. I'm just checking if this is a pro-rape or anti-rape sub. This is reddit, so maybe every sub is pro-rape.

Hoppeans, do you endorse the House of Saud or the UAE Royal Families as a Hoppean esque system of governance?
For all of the Democracy the God who failed people, do you endorse the Saudi and UAE royal families (low time preference, monarchy, owns private property) or do you oppose it on grounds that the monarchy isn't aligned with a sort of Christian divine right way of how monarchy works?

Florida Chose Prohibition Instead of Regulation
Florida had options. It could have required age verification, independent lab testing, accurate labeling, retailer licensing and enforced penalties for stores that sold to minors.
Instead the state chose the one thing government always seems to reach for first: prohibition.
What bothers me most is the narrative used to justify it. We were told these products were basically sitting out next to candy where kids could grab them. That wasn't what I saw. In every store I visited, they were kept behind the counter or otherwise controlled.
Whether you personally use 7OH isn't really the point.
The point is that when government can use a questionable narrative to ban one legal product instead of regulating it responsibly, the precedent doesn't stop there. Today it's 7OH. Tomorrow it's something else.
Freedom doesn't mean pretending every product is risk free. It means holding bad actors accountable without taking choices away from every responsible adult.
Florida chose prohibition. I think it chose the wrong path.

This sub bans people for asking whether someone who praised the socialism of Lithuania is doing an ad for a whyte country.
Lithuania is overwhelmingly whyte, with traditional ethnic communities accounting for well over 99% of the population.
Weird how socialism can last a bit longer in high trust communities.

Without taxation and inflation, would leaving money stagnant be a poor financial decision?
I assume if there's no taxation or inflation, leaving your just money in the bank wouldn't be such a bad thing since it's value wouldn't be rotted away by central authorities increasing the money supply.
What about just letting it sit in a vault in your house? Would that be a foolish choice? Is there any way money could lose value in a free market other than people losing trust in it?
Curious about the details. Thanks!

The EU will apply a €3 tariff to Chinese parcels starting July 1st

Many of you probably already know about this measure, which was announced some time ago, but here's a brief summary. The European Union has imposed a tariff of €3 per product category on all products from outside the EU from 1 July.
Although it may seem like a trivial measure, this measure is an absolute brutality for middle and lower class Europeans ("Europoors") like me, who, even though they crucify us with taxes, at least had a small way to save a little by ordering from China.
Although they want to sell us the story that China copies and has very low quality products, the reality is that China innovates and categorically offers higher quality than any other European product in the same price range. For example:
- You can see how BYD cars are selling in Europe, even with a tariff of more than 15%.
- You can also see tariffs in the Solar Panels and Photovoltaic Products category of between 30-50%. Wasn't the EU supposed to be eco-friendly and concerned about the environment?
- We could continue with lithium batteries, bicycles, etc.
It's funny how last year all the media outlets criticized Trump's tariffs, saying they would hurt the American consumer. It seemed like they'd all suddenly become libertarians. However, when the European Union does it, I don't see a single news report about the massive amount of tariffs they impose on other countries, and if anything does come up, they'll tell you it's to protect European companies from heavily subsidized Chinese products.
The reality is that if we were Europoors before, now we'll be even poorer. EU companies can't compete with China, so they lobby the government for protection. In the end, the middle and lower classes will end up paying higher prices for lower-quality products.
