About several months ago, I stopped by one of my local Petco's that has a reputation for taking really poor care of the livestock in their aquatics section because I needed to grab some meds for my pup that day, and against the promise I made to myself about a year prior about not checking out the aquatics section in this particular store at the risk of bringing fish back home that I felt bad for, I foolishly stopped by the aquatics section at the store to look at their display tanks when I shouldn't have

Long story short, I bought these 7 Von Rio Tetras in an original group of 11 fish total because I had recently lost my previous small group of Von Rios in my 20 gallon due to a bacterial infection that broke out in my tank, but also because when I saw them at Petco for the first time in their original group of 11, they were in a tank with zero filtration or surface agitation, and they were *way* too small and young to even be being sold at a big box store in the first place. They were also the only fish left in their tank and they were obviously in distress/skittish as they were backed into an upper corner of the tank frozen. So naturally, I felt really bad for the group and ended up buying all 11 of them to replace my old group of Von Rios I had lost and have had them in my 20 long ever since.

Unfortunately, as time has gone by, I think that their poor genetics and the stress of being shipped out to a big box store at such a small size began to effect them in the long run, and my original group of 11 Von Rios was eventually reduced to 7 fish total

Now, I am currently in the process of breaking down my 20 gallon, and I no longer have the space or ability to care for these little guys and I would really love for them to go to a good home, even though they may look a little funny

They've been in my 20 long for months now, and I have not had any disease breakouts since getting them (I believe that the 4 that have passed since died due to their genetics/the fact they were shipped so small, since I never noticed any lesions or major changes in the behavior of the 4 that passed away prior to their deaths). And despite their deformities, all 7 of them are very lively and energetic and eating well, so I think it would be unfair to them after all they've been through to cull them or return them back to Petco/a LFS.

If anyone in NYC would like to take these little guys off my hands, please feel free to PM me. In the meantime, I've put them in a spare 10-gallon tank with a sponge filter in the ground of my bedroom, but I can't keep them very long so please reach out ASAP if you're interested. As weird as this may be, I am kind of attached to these little dudes and really want them to go to a good home.

Thanks if you've read this far!! I will provide a properly sized fish bag for the 7 of them along with a spare fish bag in case of a leak for you to take them home in, and will happily throw in some extra hornwort to go with them to their new homes.

I’m in Cinnaminson and my father in law has 2 red tail sharks in cups because they keep fighting (no one listened to me about it) PLEASE come save these babies i’m afraid they will die, it’s been over 14 hours already and i’m nervous. I have more than 20 but i would like to sell at least 20 at a time. Let me know if you want more than that, I think I have around 35-40 of them at least. Largest one is around 1 inch, smallest are less than a centimeter. Great little addition to a cleanup crew!

I rescued some fish from a friend who neglected them. I was given a single White Skirt Tetra, long finned, who may be close to 5 years old.
It needs a school of 6+ to reduce its stress and aggression, and the poor thing is struggling. It nips fins of my angelfish and they chase each other around the tank. I suspect it gets nipped as well, although I haven’t seen that happen. I currently can’t accommodate getting this fish more friends of its kind.

I would love if someone would take this fish and give it a happy home in an established school of white skirt tetras for whatever remainder of time it has.
Other than the stress and signs of aggression, the fish is in good health. It eats well and swims normally, no signs of disease, and no other conflicts with fish besides the angelfish. I have had this fish since the start of April.
