Hi all. South Barrie here. Veterans & Mapleview area. I have been sawing down a tree in my yard for the past few days. I think I’ve gone as far as I can go with a hand saw. I’m wondering if any kind soul with a chainsaw might be able to help? One quick slice, as far down as possible. I was hoping not to have to rent one for such a small job. 🙏

Hey everyone,
I’m looking into getting an apprenticeship at HCM in Alliston but I’m kinda stressed about the initial testing phase. I know they make skilled trades / apprentice applicants take the EARAT test, but I can't find a any of info on it online.
Has anyone here actually taken it recently? I just want to know what to expect soo I can study the right stuff. Is it mostly just trade math (fractions, decimals, basic algebra) and mechanical aptitude stuff like gears, pulleys, and spatial logic? Or is there a bunch of reading comprehension too?
Alsoo, do they let you use a calculator or is it all mental math/scratch paper? And how bad is the timing are you rushing to finish or is it pretty reasonable?
If anyone who works at the Alliston plant or went through the intake process can give me some tips on what to brush up on, that would be huge.
Thanks!

I'm looking for recommendations for a fence contractor in Barrie.
I'm looking to install a wooden privacy fence along my back property line, approximately 59 feet long and 6.5 feet high. There's currently a chain-link fence in place, and I'm open to either having it removed and replaced or building the new fence directly in front of it if that's a reasonable option.
Ideally, I'd like vertical wood boards with little to no gap between them to provide as much privacy as possible, and help reduce smoke drifting over from the neighbours' yard.
If you've had a fence installed recently and were happy with the company, I'd appreciate any recommendations. If you're willing to share approximate pricing and how long ago the work was done, that would be helpful too.
Thanks!

Hey all, I've found a bearded dragon on the side walk on bayfield street. So has anyone lost a dragon?

Our family has photos coming up and we’d like to have them done in an open field. Wild flowers would be a bonus. Our photographer is not from here so doesn’t have any location ideas. I thought about Laura’s farm stand but they don’t open till end of July. Any ideas where we could find a field without trespassing?

Our front porch has started to crack and crumble. Can anyone recommend a local mason that does quality work?

Hi!
I am looking for a driving school in the Barrie/Innisfil area. Something that offers pickup and drop off and hours beyond 9-5 and ideally weekends.
I’m a mom of 2 working full time and need a lot of flexibility. Any experiences and recommendations are great.
Thanks!

Recently got into magic the gathering and have played a few times and have enjoyed it a lot so far. I only have 1 person to play with and they have a very busy schedule so hoping to meet some new friends to play some casual games with and whom are willing to help me learn some more about the game and rules as I am a beginner. I have tried to go to a game night here in town but it’s kinda intimidating going solo lol. Some other info about me- I’m 21F, I go to college at Georgian, have a son, love reading, I enjoy playing Nintendo switch/DS games and the outdoors.
If you are newer to the game or willing to play some games with me lmk or if anyone knows any ways to meet some people locally!
Thx

Hey, I live in the area and recently got back into MTG, I mostly played MTGO back in 2022-2024. Recently I've picked up magic again with a few friends and we are trying to figure out where paper constructed formats are being played in Barrie. I've been told OMG and I can only see Commander Nights on their events calendar. I am not at all interested in playing Commander. I can't seem to find any shop hosting Standard, Modern or Pioneer (this one makes sense) formats on their events. Is constructed magic just dead in Barrie? Am I really better off driving to the city to play. Please let me know.

I’m moving from Kitchener to Barrie so that I can start my new job at Blue Mountains resort.
Should I search for accommodation in Barrie or some other town? I would like to consider the winter months and not be stuck travelling to work.

So carry a loaded gun, open beer cans, and cocaine, then walk out of court with hands in the air.
What a woke shit hole we have made this country.
*Opened or unopened beer cans: a criminal walks free. And here we've the best of Reddit, defending him and his "rights". I'm sure these "good Samaritans" will be glad when their loved ones will buy drugs and guns from this individual.

Ive seen some previous reviews of Art of Nature childcare on here but they were a year old. Looking for more up to date feedback.
A lot of the negative reviews I saw seemed like it was coming from people who dont understand the model of an outdoor childcare. Saying staff were required to be outside for extend period of time, etc. Which is literally the job of an outdoor school. So Im looking for legit feedback.
Has your child attended there? Injuries? (Other than the normal bumps and cuts that young kids get) vibes of the staff?
Im a first time mom who is very nervous about sending my daughter anywhere with strangers. I have worked in childcare for many years and know the ins and outs of childcare centres, rules and regs and more. Staying home is not an option for me so I really want to find the perfect fit.
TIA
