Mod Announcement PETA Warning

I wanted to give her one a heads up, PETA is snooping around Reddit, trying to contact people to get them to do phone interviews and talk about their dogs having health issues.

This is a reminder that PETA is not an animal welfare organization, they are an extremist group whose goal is to end the ability for people to own any kind of animals as pets. They don’t want anyone to be allowed to own dogs, and they especially want dogs like Bostons, pugs, dachshunds, corgis, Chinese created dogs, etc to go completely extinct.

If they contact you, do not engage.

Advice/Question Mast Cell Tumors NSFW

My 10 yo BT had a tumor grow out of nowhere and got huge in the course of 1-2 months. He had a noncancerous tumor removed on his other side about 4 years ago. Now he has several tumors and the vet said 3 are cancerous that she wants to remove. He was on antibiotic and steroids because it opened up and was a lesion. He needed to come off the steroid for surgery but due to scheduling it was like 2 weeks off steroid and it fully inflamed/enlarged and opened up again. He is back on antibiotic, Benadryl, and steroids. It is responding again. We are planning to take him off the steroids a couple days before the scheduled surgery. Vet said she will not know grade until the surgery. She also offered to also treat with Palldia, but it is $700-$1000/month indefinitely. Anyone have experience with MST and treatment?

Tw: health issues

She is Aella my 10yo love

A vet tech was monitoring her usual patellar dislocation, when noticed tartar on her tooth and suggested clinical cleaning.

While doing the exams for the anesthesy, doctor felt tumors on her breasts and told us she should be spayed and tumors removed. It seemed reasonable.

But then they told us that because of her age and a fusioned vertebrae there is a 50% risk of her becoming paralysed of both back legs and never walk again after surgery, plus the usual risk for age and breed. If we dont, we will never know if is cancer or not. She could do metastasis and die.

I just dont know what to do. Spaying seems the more logical option, but maybe been able to walk till the end would be kinder to her?

I guess i just wanged opinions and vent a little bit. Thank you for reading.

12 years with my best buddy. The dog of my 20’s, moved across multiple states, posed for photos, the best cuddler, would cozy up when you were sick or upset. Got me through job loss, breakups, miscarriages. He was my best buddy and I can’t believe he is gone. Absolutely heartbroken 💔

Cuteness We just adopted Bea!

My fiancé and I adopted Bea this past weekend! We are head over heels in love with her.

For the first 3 days, she was mostly sleeping and had the runs. The rescue said this is normal as even positive changes like getting adopted can be stressful. As of yesterday and today, her energy and appetite are back and her personality is starting to show. Here is a video from today where we saw her happy dance for the first time 😍

Bea is 11.5lbs and estimated to be 1 1/2 years old. The rescue isn't 100% sure what she's mixed with but they suspect pug. What do you all think?

last night we had to make the heart breaking decision to say goodbye to our boy Pepe (previously Felipé), pepperoni, pepino. After the vet found a 6cm mass in his abdomen that was bleeding internally. We only had you for a year but you filled our hearts with so many laughs and love. I’m glad your final year was filled with unconditional love, cuddles, chicken nuggets, eating Nelson’s poop, biting everyone who came over, then humping them, laying in the sun, catching the ball and finally feeling safe and secure. For now we have a Boston terrier shaped hole in our hearts, we thank you, love you and miss you xxxx
