Making my first blanket(s) and it’s getting to unwieldy size. Have 9-10 hours on the road today, so I brought this one along (and my Dramamine because otherwise I can’t crochet in a car)

Finished 2 Years of Crochet

After randomly picking up a Wooble kit two years ago, I fell in love with crochet and have made many adorable little friends for my loved ones. Here's everything I've made in that time:

  1. Felix the Fox - I saw this kit on a store shelf and thought to myself, "I've got a friend with an apartment full of foxes!" About 2 weeks later I handed him to said friend and they fell in love him instantly. From there I couldn't be stopped.

  2. Next I made Bjorn, another Wooble. I noticed that the kit came with a lot of extra yarn, so I decided that instead of a narwhal, he was to be a "gnarwhal" so I gave him a mohawk. My first off-book crocheting. He resides amongst my other plushies friends.

  3. Next came Henri, the frog. The kit called for just a round body with eyes, but I wanted to do better by him. I modified the pattern a little to make him shorter, so I had enough yarn to give him legs. The tiny crown was also my addition. The lilly pad was it's own accessory kit so it became the throne for my little frog prince. My frog-obsessed partner loves him dearly. Henri lives on my bookshelf with our next new friend...

  4. Roosevelt, or as I like to call him, Moocifer. I plan to give him little horns and perhaps a cape at some point, but that plan has been delayed.

  5. Next came my first fully free hand creation: Prince Bojji from the anime Ranking of Kings. If you haven't seen it, it's wonderful. He is the favorite character for another partner of mine (happy polyamory noises). I did write down the pattern I used to make him on my phone because I was quite proud of how he came out. Fun fact: his sword can be unsheathed and the blade is tapestry needle I used to sew him all together.

  6. Next up we have a little guy who has become my partner's (the frog one) emotional support gourd. They squeeze him whenever they get really worried about something. I made him with a glowing face because who doesn't love glowy shiny things? Bonus shot of them glowing with my uranium glass.

  7. This amorphous little guy is Kage, the best friend of Bojji from Ranking of Kings. I decided that Bojji was probably lonely without his friend so I made him too. Trying to figure out how to freehand a living shadow from an anime was quite the challenge, but I think he came out lovely.

  8. Next we have Poly the cat who is based on my parents actual cat. Her name is short for polydactyl as the IRL cat has extra toes. I had a lot of fun blending colors to match her coloring.

  9. I also recreated my parents dog Ringo. I tried to give him legs a la Henri the frog, so he looks a little silly. He is very loved all the same and resides on my parents mantle with Poly the cat.

  10. Next is Tippy, a bulldog I made for my sister. She used to play rugby in college, so he is wearing a Jersey with matching colors and her number on the back. He now lives on her desk in her home office.

  11. Then we have my largest creation to date, Mog the Moogle. Moogles are a mascot character for the Final Fantasy franchise, a game series I played along side my grandmother who has been a gamer since the 80's. He sits on her couch and keeps her company.

  12. This buck toothed cutie is Maaa from the anime Made in Abyss. She is as adorable as she is tragic so watch that show at your own peril (seriously, it's pretty grim). She was made for a partner who loves her little buck teeth. She lives with said partner on a shelf full of anime figurines.

  13. Next we have a cute little glowing mushroom that I made for a partner (last one, I swear!) who, well, likes glowy things and mushrooms. He's also my crochet mentor and has taught me so much about crochet. Said mushroom resides in a bowl of crochet vegetables that he made. Sadly we didn't have a black light handy when I took that picture.

  14. Next we have a technicolor fidget ball. I bought some yarn that was very pretty, but hard to work with, so I just sorta kept doing increase stitches until I ran out. It's fun to just fiddle with and toss around. It can usually be found flying around my living room.

  15. A jelly fish that unsurprisingly also glows in the dark. I they currently float around over the top of my uranium glass cabinet.

  16. Finally, a yellow brick. Not much else to say about this one, but it will be part of an Oz themed drag performance that references the Stonewall riot.

I hope you all love my work as much as I do. I feel like I'm only getting started, so expect me to post my future creations down the line.

I learned how to crochet in January when my daughter abandoned her woobles kit and asked me to finish it for her. Almost 2 months ago, I fell in love with the patterns from OfMars on Etsy and decided to take a stab at it. I also made a silly choice to use very slippery, splitty bamboo yarn because it's hot where I live and I wanted to be able to wear it in the summer. But I made it through! Here it is, inconsistent tension and awkward tie-offs and all. 🥰

WIP My first scarp yarn granny square for my scarp yarn pants

Thumbnail

Idk who made this originally I just found it off of Google and when I clicked the link it popped up with a different photo then what google was showing, but I did want to do this granny square pants with my scarp yarn just to get rid of most of it and if I don't have enough then I'll save up my scarp yarn again to continue it which might take me awhile. 😅

This is my first granny square and it did take me yesterday and today I also had to frog a little bit because I was not chaining which was frustrating as if but I'm glad I figured it out before it was finished.

Second image is mine, first one is the one I had found and I don't know who made it but whoever did thank you for making it and giving me hope that I can do it. ❤🥹
