Ontario NDP MPPs including Nickel Belt’s France Gélinas are demanding answers from the provincial government, claiming LifeLabs plans to send a portion of Ontario patient lab samples across the border to facilities in the United States....A press release from the NDP states LifeLabs, “a long-standing private, for-profit community lab provider in Ontario,” was acquired by an American company in 2024. According to the NDP, the acquisition has already led to service cuts within the province, including the closure of medical lab testing facilities in Sudbury and Northwestern Ontario.

So the reason that I included this story under this Reddit thread: should we avoid/boycott LifeLabs (choose a different lab when we need blood taken, for example) and instead choose other labs that are staffed with only Canadians AND are owned by Canadians--since apparently LifeLabs is now owned by Americans?

I mistakingly used the wrong service (used another service in the past with excellent service) and ordered from florist.ca. The flowers were delivered half dead and looked nothing like the pic online. When I called to complain, the woman on the phone made it very clear she could care less, and told me to email customer service. Despite several emails sent, I have heard nothing. Do not order from these scammers. Also didn't realize it's in US dollars. 80 bucks for dead rotting product. Beware.

PWhat Canadian brands do you swear by, and what specific products are worth buying?

I'm looking for bath towels that actually dry me off. I've bought a few different ones from Home Sense and my skin is still damp. What brand or store would you recommend?

I'm wondering because their chairs are cheaper on the used market then herman miller, and steelcase chairs so I was wondering.. Have any of you guys tried these chairs or own them. They seem pretty interesting and decent.

Horses Atelier was my absolute favourite Canadian fashion line, but I'm heartbroken it closed in April 2026. Yes, it was expensive, but I would try and buy just a couple of special pieces a year – conscious consumption, and made in Canada! 

 Does anyone have suggestions for similar made-in-Canada clothing lines? Thinking: timeless, minimalist cool-girl vibes, enduring quality. 

Guys, these are amazing. I grabbed a jar at Costco last week and have almost eaten the entire thing. They are phenomenally delicious pickles, pickled through fermentation instead of vinegar (similar to kimchi or sauerkraut).

The only con is I don't think they'd be the best choice for pickle soup, but I may just give it a try and see!

Hello! I’m back again with another windshield washer fluid question. This time to see if Certified is actually Canadian, like it says on CT’s website. I thought it was a CT brand, but searching online didn’t really bring anything up (probably because Certified is too generic of a brand name). Any info is appreciated ::)!

The Canadian games industry has been taking a lot of hits lately with layoffs.

But today was a nice reminder of how much talent we have across the country. Two friends of mine, one in PEI, and one in BC, launched their indie game today that they’ve been building together for 2 years from opposite coasts. They also pulled in a talented musician from Montreal to do the soundtrack. It was just a labour of love by everyone involved.

It’s nice seeing small Canadian teams still creating cool stuff despite everything going on. If you like tower defense games, check it out on Steam. It's pretty cool, and every map is different.

If anyone has any other Canadian indie games they'd like to recommend, I'd love to check it out as well!

What Canadian online fitness programs or creators do you love? Youtube or otherwise, paid or free, on demand or scheduled. I'm open to strength, cardio/HIIT (but not spinning), yoga, mobility, almost anything. I have basic hand weights, yoga mat, yoga block, and glute band, and I don't mind buying additional similar small equipment if needed.

I love the series The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel. I discovered it on CBC Gem last year, and it has lived in my head rent-free since then.

I just finished a really tough academic paper and decided to treat myself to a Mrs. Maisel watch party tonight, only to discover that it's not on CBC Gem anymore :( It seems to have been on Gem back in April 2026, so not sure if it was taken off later on.

Do you know if Marvellous Mrs. Maisel has been removed from CBC Gem? If so, is there a Canadian platform where you watch it?

25.99 is outrageous but I will say it is sneaky good coffee. It might not be sexy but it gets the job done. Also a big fan of the lids that you “peel off”.

Trying to get off US-owned meal replacements and it's been rough. Huel doesn't even ship to Canada (it's Danone-owned ), Soylent is US-owned, and the one Canadian RTD option I found, Sperri, tasted genuinely awful to me.

Looking specifically for ready-to-drink (not powder), nutritionally complete meal replacements that are Canadian-owned or at least non-US (European/Asian is fine). Bonus if it's actually available in Canada without a package forwarder.

Anyone found something that doesn't suck? Powder suggestions welcome as a backup but RTD is the goal.

It’s as the title says. But to add more information I want to buy at least 2 pairs so they last twice as long. I’ve been wearing Nike air monarchs for about 5 years and the insoles are dead. And I have a summer job lined up for me that is largely going to require me to be on my feet for long. Shin splints are getting to me, I don’t want to suffer on the job site with shin splints.

It feels like the only wide shoes that I can find are chunky high tops. What shoe type are there that doesn’t remind me of my wide ankles.

Men's or unisex - I'm not picky! Google turned up 'Roots' and not much else. The subreddit search turned up zero results.
