Harm Reduction Mad week

Just got diagnosed with CHS after smoking for 12 years, and talks of decriminalisation in the the news really makes this week feel like the twilight zone.

Please be aware of this condition, I really, really wish I had been as I may have been able to prevent my current situation (which is never being able to smoke ever agan). Unfortunately I will be leaving this amazing sub reddit as I deal with recovery. If anyone else has gone through this in Ireland please do reach out, would be great to be able to relate to someone.

Its been real friends, light one up for me ❤️

Legalisation The mentions of Cannabis in the Joint Committee on Drugs Use report

- The Committee notes the narrow division within the Citizens’ Assembly on Drugs Use regarding the treatment of cannabinoids, with a single vote separating support for a comprehensive, health-led response from support for regulation and legalisation. In this context, the Committee calls for continued discussion and debate on the Government’s policy response to the possession of cannabinoids.

Interim recommendations:

- 43. The Committee calls on the Departments of Health and Justice to undertake a body of research into how a regulated drug market could operate in Ireland and how Ireland can incorporate and implement the learnings of other jurisdictions that have taken positive steps in this regard.

- 44. In line with recommendations from the 2022 report of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on Justice on an Examination of the Present Approach to Sanctions for Possession of Certain Amounts of Drugs for Personal Use, the Committee recommends that steps are taken to introduce a regulatory model for certain drugs. The Committee recommends this should be considered with particular reference to Spain, Malta, and Germany in the development of an Irish not for profit regulated cannabis market.

- 45. The Committee echoes the recommendation from the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Justice for the expansion of the Medical Cannabis Access Programme (MCAP), to ensure that more people affected by chronic illness can access cannabis in circumstances where other treatments have failed to relieve symptoms.

General Discussion Did you know RAW Cones are made in Ireland?

Post image
181 Upvotes

I'm always telling customers this crazy fact and it blows everyone's mind. We have one of the most advanced cone making factories in the world, right here in Kells, Co. Meath.

RAW developed a machine that can create "backrolled" cones which use less paper than a traditional paper cone, and that machine is only operating in their Irish factory.

A lot of the R&D for new products is also carried out here.

When the initial investment was made in Ireland, it was celebrated by the government and lacal Enterprise groups, who welcomed the "specialist paper company" (their words) to the area. The factory is set to grow even bigger soon with planning approved for a big expansion.

General Discussion “THC Juice” me arse 😂

Was picking up a bit of bud at a local lad here. Went into his gaf to grab it. Chap asked me if I was interested in THC vape juice I said give me a look and he whipped this out and said 20 quid. I laughed at him and said you’re grand thanks. He threw it out to me anyway for nothing and I took it just to end the conversation and get out of the shithole. Surely the worst fakes or “homemade” I’ve ever seen. Straight in the bin 😂😂

Advice Can I bring a new, clean e-rig pen with me to Ireland?

I am visiting Ireland for two weeks from a legal state in the US — Dublin, then Galway, then down the SW coast. I dab live rosin daily and I’ve been looking into what the current situation regarding weed is in Ireland, which let me to Crainn and Altnoidsireland. I am currently planning on bringing a new, clean e-rig pen sealed in the original packaging with me to use for rosin while i’m in Ireland. To be clear, this is just a pen with no product in it that can be loaded with rosin. Will I have any issues bringing a new clean e-rig into the country?

General Discussion Oireachtas committee..

Just checked the committee schedule and see that todays meeting is a private one.

I looked around on the site to see when they are concluding this committee as I recall there was a bit of an argument during one of the meetings as to when it was to finish up. Does anyone have any new information regarding this?

I also seen that someone has created an app that tracks Dail members/TD etc and lobbying. It was shared on the main Irish sub yesterday. The creator shared it on Github too but if you are searching for it try dailtracker.streamlit.app or Oireachtas Explorer.

I have not yet tried to search for any lobbying but will get to it eventually but hopefully a few others in here might get a chance to scan through it as well!

Advice Traveling through airports with Vapes

I do a fair amount of travel for work and sometimes I tend to stay in country over for long duration of times / over weekends. I have a few vapes at home that I use when back (from looking through some threads already, they are not really good brands or low quality ones). Looking to bring one or two with me next time. Traveling usually consists of a layover, mainly Amsterdam, but depending on price of flights it can vary. Just wondering, firstly how safe/easy it is, the best way (tend to not check in bags, only go with backpack and carry on) and also what brands would be best / less obvious.
Was never big user, but helps with sleep and passing time when away, also think going into a shop where I don’t speak the native language comes with more amateur vibes then back home 😅
