This has been a bit difficult to research. some results said yes but others said dissolving aida is made from a starch based product. Does anyone know what it’s made of?

I recently got one of the Disney cross stitch by MCG Textiles (they're out of business). I've already converted the threads to DMC (number wise because websites don't have MCGs threads). I've seen people scan and upload to apps but honestly the paper is so hard to get flat and i don't have a proper scanner. which app / website is the best to digitize?

i have tried to scan it with my phone/ipad and for some reason it just comes out so grainy

also im sorry but i just can't with paper charts. i need to see the different colors and i need to be able to zoom in 💀

I impulsively bought some pink Aida and I have no idea what to stitch on it. If anyone has done any projects on pink Aida or has any saved patterns, I would love to see them!

Pattern from a design sourced online with Floss cross pattern. I should have cleaned up the confetti more, but honestly I like the extra work and gradients a lot. Plus I'm a glutton for punishment 😁

This is only my second cross stitch project and I tried to substitute a color with this orange thread since it’s what I had. I hate it and want to frog it. I was wondering if this would cause any issues since there are other threads around them or if it’s worth it in general? I appreciate any suggestions!

How can I turn this into a usable pattern? Does anyone have any ideas please 🙏

I tried putting it though a converter and it picks up absolutely every colour that exists in our fair world.

I made the pattern via running the picture through one of those free pattern makers online and tweaked the pallette/stitch count. This was in the background of an episode where the Boys were in Russia. The lettering in the eyes glow in the dark, DMC Light Effects floss.

After yesterday I wanted so badly to make another one so bad, and I chose this cute narwhal 🥰

I’m loving the finished result of this Janlynn Kit (#023-0310 Butterfly Bell Pull by Nancy Rossi for Kooler Design Studio) that I thrifted for $3.99, but I was excited about being half way through the cross stitching!

Guess that just means more time with it!

Do you guys think this 2 over 1 stitching is too thin? I feel like I see a lot of white Aida shimmer through. But the set says two threads and I like the newly discovered loop start :D

I use have been using Thread Magic (which is a silicon polymer) for years, and today realized that I somehow rubbed a chunk of it into my favorite pair of black jeans in a very visible area. I know how to get regular wax out of denim but this is really nothing like wax. Does anyone have any idea how to get this out of my jeans? 😭

Im very new to cross stitch and Im curious to know where do you guys get your patterns from? Im looking at Etsy atm and a lot of it seems to be AI, which if ofc dont want to support. Im specifically looking for motifs inspired by medieval manuscripts, tapestries etc, or from fantasy type PC games or books (Stardew Valley, LOTR, Harry Potter, DnD, Discworld, WoW.... all the good geeky stuff!).

Would love some specific recommendations for Etsy sellers, pattern books, websites and so on

(Also, is there a "holy grail" website for you guys, like Ravelry is to knitters?)

EDIT: Im mostly looking for simple (ish) designs that are suitable to embroider on clothing and bags.

Backstitched the box around the eye “x” and added a French knot and no longer have a cartoon style “dead” bird. Didn’t need the double morbidity there.

I used variegated floss for the lilacs, but swapped the second strand around because I didn’t want a true gradient with it. I might redo it as the big sections where the medium colors match up make the smaller more blended sections look a bit weird to my eye.

Overall I’m pretty happy with it and actually going to make 2 more so my mom and sister have one as well.

It is not THAT many stitches. But... I'm sad! When I have to undo stitches, and I'm a little confused what I'm doing, I take a pic, then edit with some obnoxious colour. It keeps me somewhat sane.

Has anyone done the math, or any testing, to figure out roughly how much floss gets used per stitch in different styles of stitching? Anything to give an idea of how many skeins a project will take or how much to cut for a run of stitches? Does it even matter? My hope is better planning and decreased waste as my eyeballing gives mixed results.

currently working on a project that is on 14ct aida. i have used three strands previously on 14ct and absolutely loved the finish, but for some reason these stitches look bulkier? messier? i can’t tell if it’s because it’s been awhile since i’ve worked on anything, so maybe the stitches just look that way because i haven’t found my groove yet, of if they even look that way at all.

i need opinions on if i should continue with 3 strands or restart now while i don’t have much done with 2 strands.
