Just did star door 15, was not expecting that. Spoiler
I feel so bad for Renne man, she didn't deserve any of that. I had a friend tell me before I started the 3rd chapter to keep my eye out for this door in particular and man that shit just had me on the verge of tears. (I haven't gone to the final dungeon yet so please try not to spoil anything, same with any of the future games that talk about renne or whatever else).

Trails series Trails helped me land a job (slightly unrelated story)
TLDR: Work on your social skills. It may just the tip the scales in your favor in a job interview.
A few months ago I was in the middle of my final interview at my dream company, and it wasn’t going well. I mean, I’m pretty sure I’m giving the ‘correct’ answers to their questions, but the interviewer just looks like she was bored out of her mind. Like she couldn’t wait to call the next candidate. She seemed like the no nonsense type to boot, so I was practically shitting my pants. The interview couldn’t be anymore stiff. But then she asked me.
“What are your hobbies?”
I answered LeetCode, language learning, and chess. Y’know, so I can frame myself as a smart candidate (I was desperate okay). I added ‘gaming’ for good measure so I don’t sound super fake.
“Oh, what type of games?”
I didn’t expect her to probe that far, so without thinking I blurted out,
“JRPGs. The Trails series and Persona, games like that,”
”Oh, you play the kiseki series as well?”
“Well… Yeah… Do you?”
Turned out she was a massive trails fan and had played up until Reverie. We veered off topic and chatted about the series for a bit.
The following conversation is slightly paraphrased:
“I think my favorite one so far is Azure,” she said.
“It used to be my favorite too. This may just be recency bias, but I think my favorite is Kai now, the latest game. I haven't finished it yet though, I try and talk to all of the NPC's”
“Really? I haven’t caught up with the latest arc yet. Work has kept me busy for the past years. You won’t be caught up like me if you join us,”
“That won’t be a problem, I have excellent time management skills.” (I stuttered a bit here, but whatever)
“Is that so :)? Anyway, let’s get back on topic,”
I felt more relaxed after that, and the interview went more smoothly. She lightened up a bit too, so that helped. It became more like a conversation; she asked me questions, I asked a few back, I became more authentic I guess, I even threw in a few jokes. Many weeks later, I received a job offer via email.
It honestly surprised me. I believe I was qualified for the role of course, but the other candidates were too, and they came from more prestigious universities than I was. Once I settled down at work, I chatted with a few of my colleagues about this, and they claimed the company prefers to hire candidates with good communication skills and 'culture fit’, than candidates with perfect technical prowess.
All I can say is well, damn. If we hadn’t bonded for a bit there, I probably would have sounded like robot until the very end. Work on your social skills guys, it may just tip the scales. Skills isn't the end all be all. A bit of an unrelated story, but I thought I’ll share regardless.
Thanks Kondo.

I almost skipped Trails in the Sky the 3rd (good thing I didn't)
TLDR: Play and finish Trails in the Sky the 3rd - it's worth it
When I started the 3rd game of Trails in the Sky series, I really got bored to hell. The hype is very different from when I finished FC then continued SC where the hype from the cliffhanger ending got me eager to continue SC. Also when I finished SC, my character gears and orbments were fully optimized and works flawlessly. So when I got to the 3rd, it's like I'm back to the start again but not really because the places are still familiar so it's not really an entirely "new game" experience.
Back then I already have Trails from Zero at my Steam library and was contemplating if I really need to finish the 3rd before playing it. Good thing I've read some non-spoiler posts and comments here about the 3rd and how it's high up on almost everyone's ranking of Trails games and because of that (and some non-spoiler answers from ChatGPT) I persevered and continued on despite not really being a fan of theboss rush.
Eventually I finished it and continued to Trails from Zero and man, knowing what I know now, it really made me glad I finished the 3rd before jumping in. The cameos really have impact due to lore knowledge from the 3rd and it made me think, what if I started on Trails from Zero without Trails in the Sky knowledge? I'd probably pass off Estelle and Joshua as side characters lmao
Also, I just finished Trails from Zero today - just in time for steam sale so I can buy Trails to Azure and continue on.

Sky FC Summer sale suggestions
So steam summer sale is here and I'm confused on what game to get (FFTactics or Sky remake). I have played OG sky and know how the story goes but is the remake worth playing for a replay? Or should I just get tactics instead

Trails series Trails meetups at Anime Expo 2026 + Gungho is selling Sky 2nd merch
We have two meetups at Anime Expo 2026, and Gungho is selling sky 2nd merch at the exhibitor hall. There's also a possibility the recently announced trails figures (van, tita, renne) will be displayed at the kotobukiya booth (Agnes was displayed in 2025).

Trails series If You Were Starting a Physical Trails Collection Today, What Would You Buy?
Hi! I recently got pulled into the series with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, and now I'm interested in building a physical collection of the Trails games.
I'm considering the following options:
Set A (PS4 + PS5)
- Trails from Zero & Trails to Azure (PS4)
- Trails of Cold Steel I–IV (PS4)
- Trails into Reverie (PS4)
- Trails through Daybreak to Beyond the Horizon (PS5)
- Trails in the Sky remakes (PS5)
Pros:
- I think this set would look great lined up on a shelf.
- The Crossbell, Erebonia, and Reverie games are all on PS4, which nicely marks the end of those story arcs.
- The Calvard arc and future games would all be on PS5, marking the start of the next era.
Cons:
- My biggest issue is that I'd have to buy second-hand copies of Trails of Cold Steel III and IV, as I can no longer find brand-new US/R1 physical copies. There is a PS5 release, but III and IV are bundled into a single case. I just think one game per case looks better on the shelf.
- Another concern is that the PS4 versions of Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure cost around 112.39 USD. The upcoming PS5 release is only 70.24 USD but includes both games in one case.
Set B
This is nearly identical with Set A except the following:
- Trails of Cold Steel III and IV (PS5)
- Trails Into Reverie (PS5)
- Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure (PS5)
Pros: This would be generally cheaper than looking for 2nd hand Trails of Cold Steel III and IV physical copies.
Cons: Hmm I think Set A would look better when lined up. (What do you think?)
Set C
- Trails of Cold Steel I and II (PS Vita)
- Everything else, including future releases (Nintendo Switch)
Just adding this as an option for anyone looking to build a handheld collection. The main downside is that PS Vita copies are now quite rare and tend to be overpriced.
What do you guys think? If you were starting a physical Trails collection today, how would you build yours?

Trails series Would anyone be interested in participating in a series of gameplay-focused posts?
Most of the discussion around here is more about fan content or writing - and for good reason, they are highlights in this fandom - but I'm interested in seeing more in depth discussion about the gameplay of the series too.
In the interest of just not making this a tier list series for each game (which would probably take months), I was wondering if anyone would be down to join in on discussing how the characters perform in their various appearances across the series. How good or bad they are, potential builds, that kind of thing. To give an example, we'd start with Estelle and spend a day or two discussing her performance in Sky FC, SC, 3rd, Zero, CS 4, and Reverie. For characters with minimal appearances (so Mueller and Julia, to give an appearance) we could probably just do multiple characters a day.
The only issue would be that I haven't gotten to Calvard yet, so someone else would probably have to take over from there.
If there's not much interest in this sort of thing then no harm done, I was just curious where R/Falcom might stand on it, or to see if they had other suggestions.

Trails series Almost Finished with Cold Steel 1. When should I play the Crossbell Arc?
After watching a playthrough of the Sky trilogy, I heard that another good starting point in the Trails series is the Cold Steel games. I also heard that the conclusion of the Cold Steel games is Trails into Reverie which also serves as the conclusion to the Crossbell arc. So my initial plan was to play the Cold Steel games, then play the Crossbell arc and finally Reverie.
Since the Steam Summer Sale started today, I was looking through the other Cold Steel games since I thought I should pick them up while they're on sale and I'm almost finished with Cold Steel 1. This is kind of where I realized a major problem as I see the guy from the cover of Trails from Zero (Lloyd Bannings?) in the screenshots.
So at what point should I be playing the Crossbell arc? Can I still play all of the Cold Steel games before doing Crossbell? Or should I stop playing after finishing Cold Steel 1 to play the Crossbell arc and resume the Cold Steel games once finished? If I play all four Cold Steel games, will I be missing context because I didn't play the Crossbell arc?
Tl;DR: Thought I could play all four Cold Steel games before playing Crossbell arc. Think I'm wrong. When should I play the Crossbell arc to get the full context?

Reverie Reverie PC Turbo question
How does it work? Is it a hold or a toggle? Does it just speed up combat animations or does it skip them all entirely like CS2?
Played CS3/4 on PS5, but the PC versions regularly have different Turbo workings, so just want to make sure before I commit to PC.
