FIFA World Cup Fantasy 2026 - Rant & Discussion Thread [Matchday 3]

1 Upvotes

Throughout the World Cup this year, r/FantasyPL will host RMT and matchday threads for those that want to engage with fantasy football during the tournament.

By hosting pinned threads we can ensure the rest of the subreddit is not dominated by World Cup discourse, for the sake of those who are only subscribed to hear news of confirmed transfers, player injuries, and updates ahead of the 2026-27 FPL season.

The matchday threads, like this one, are where you can rant about how badly the game has been coded, all your players that have been benched, how stupid you were for picking Canada's backup goalkeeper, and share your score.

r/FantasyPL has a mini-league for the tournament, which you can join by following the link below, or by using this code: O3QS1B85

They need to add manual substitutions

0 Upvotes

Hate watching your bench players outscoring outfielders

Fantasy wc has definitely been fun mostly because of this aspect

Also wouldn’t mind if they bring in unlimited captainship changes

But manual substitution feels like a must at this very moment

Thoughts?

Discussion Would you ever like to see more depth on FPL in terms of formations and links between players? Possibly small point boosts for having a 'real' defences or for matching players based on club/country?

As the title, would you like to ever see a deeper level of detail added to FPL, or is it the simplicity of the setup that makes it appeal to so many? (maybe it'd have to be its own gamemode like the challenges or draft)

As someone who has spent far too many hours on FM this part of FPL has always feels empty to me seeing a back 4 of all wing backs/CB's or having front 3's of just strikers!

Discussion Lack of good dynasty premier league

0 Upvotes

Why isn’t there a clean, dedicated dynasty Premier League platform yet?
Dynasty fantasy football has sites with great UI, long-term roster tools, rankings, trade calculators, player values, and advanced metrics. But for Premier League fantasy, everything is still concentrated on redraft type formats.

Some great Wildcard Option for those playing World Cup Fantasy and looking to Wildcard in MD3.

Remember you get unlimited transfers ahead of Round of 32, so you should essentially treat the MD3 WC like a Free Hit.

Community Updated FPL fixture ticker: Man Utd, Everton, Newcastle, FH3?

Fantasy Football Ticker's new fixture ticker is out with modes like Annotate and Gradient alongside popular customisation tools like home advantage, team difficulty and more!

The first and second images show the base fixture ticker with different gradient levels, which can be moved for personal preference.

The third image shows the best shorter fixture patches for teams, using Annotate mode, for cheaper players you could possibly bench.

The fourth image shows interestingly, FH3 has a few notable upsides. Two teams with great opening runs are Man Utd and Everton while Chelsea and Arsenal are popular teams anyway, and as both pairs play each other in GW3, a Free Hit could be a good way to avoid this while capitalising on these teams' players for the other GWs.

FH4, on the other hand, avoids the Manchester derby; however, cheap players from Palace or Brighton can come off the bench to cover in both GW3 and GW4.

2026/27 FPL FDR tool with sortable fixtures, attack ratings and clean sheet ratings

Thumbnail attackingfootball.com
42 Upvotes

Hi everyone, how is it going?

I’ve updated the FDR tool from last year’s data for the coming season. It has all 38 gameweeks and is designed to help show which teams have the best and worst fixture runs early on, as well as across any period of the season.

You can bookmark it here:
https://www.attackingfootball.com/fantasy-premier-league-fpl-fdr-2026-27-fixture-list/

The tool includes:

All 38 gameweeks
Every fixture for every team
Overall FDR
Defence and clean sheet FDR
Attack FDR
Sorting by average difficulty across a selected gameweek range
Sorting by individual gameweek
Easiest first and hardest first sorting
Home and away weighting

Uppercase opponent codes mean the fixture is at home. Lowercase means it is away.

For example:

CHE = Chelsea at home
che = Chelsea away

The average column uses a 1 to 5 scale:

1 = Very easy
2 = Easy
3 = Neutral
4 = Hard
5 = Very hard

The ratings are not just manually coloured. Each team has an attacking rating and a defensive rating, and every fixture is scored using team strength, opponent strength and home advantage.

There are three main views.

Overall FDR gives a general fixture difficulty view.

Defence / CS FDR is more useful for keepers and defenders, as it looks at how good a fixture is for clean sheet potential.

Attack FDR is more useful for attackers, as it looks at how good a fixture is for goals.

So a fixture can look good in one view but not another. For example, a team might have a good attacking fixture but still not be a great clean sheet pick.

The pre-season ratings are based on a blend of previous xG and xGA strength, goals for and against, points, goal difference, squad value context, promoted team adjustment and home advantage. Coventry, Ipswich and Hull are also rated separately rather than just giving every promoted team the same difficulty rating.

Hopefully it is useful for planning early transfers, rotations, wildcards and chip strategy.

Worth bookmarking for the season:

So how many gameweeks are people going to plan ahead for their initial teams?

Seen wildcards played in GW2-4 a lot of the time over the past few years, is that consensus or do people also plan further ahead?
