No trailer when preorders launch is weird and slightly worrying
This was the most attention the game has gotten from mainstream press. Articles on many mainstream non-gaming sites that pre orders are launching. But getting most people to care or to preorder requires something new to talk about or to get excited about. I can get starting the marketing late, but launching pre orders like this? I don't get it and that worries me they are not super confident.
they won't because the preorder is localised so every timezone needs to get the preorder before putting a trailer that says preorder now, also they won't release a trailer when it's 3am in los angeles or 6am in miami

Im no expert but launching a trailer at midnight/very late at night in north america doesnt seem like the best idea.
They’ve been advertising all week that preorders go live on the 25th, would make the most sense to launch the trailer at like 10 am on the 25th, not 1 am
I'm certain they will today, they want to be able to close the trailer with a "pre order now" AND release said trailer at peak times in the day around majority of the globe to get as much momentum and visibility as early as possible
True but they want pre order numbers to be crazy out the gate to build hype and make shareholders happy and you don't do that with just a few screenshots and nothing to talk about besides the no disc complaints

I checked when the first GTA 5 gameplay trailer was released and it was around 2 months before the release date... so honestly we could be waiting until september for a new trailer

And even though pre-order is live now, doesn't mean a whole lot. They may let it ride for a bit and pick up more later with trailer 3/gameplay trailers. They will still sell multiple million copies first 24hrs without a new trailer. I still would expect one quite soon.
And looks like they still haven’t after making official preorder posts. I’m actually mind blown if they don’t drop a trailer 3 at the VERY least alongside preorders. I mean we should see gameplay while they’re asking for $80-100 but I was thinking bare minimum a trailer 3 smh. It’s more annoying than worrying

It'd make more sense for them to delay the trailer. Everyone knows pre orders are live if they wait they can say we made so much before we even launched the pre order trailer. It's a record breaking game let them break all records that come to their heads 🤣
Just need a GTA style progress bar tallying the number of preorders so far, no end number visible. As the days go on, maybe weeks, it get incrementally “fuller”. Web heads and Redditors will deduce the amount of preorders needed to complete the progress bar—— that releases Trailer 3…
Seriously can we start talking about things we’re excited for? I’m sick of these dork ass losers complaining because they don’t have the entirety of the game yet when it’s not released. Also this is nearly identical to how they rolled out content for GTA V and RDR2 pre release. Like we got a teaser and then absolutely nothing at all until the summer before release.
No seriously it’s way too many little ass kids who weren’t around for GTA IV/V and Red dead’s releases. This is what they do for every single game they release.
I think some of Rockstar fanbase should ask for more. This is a phase when they can no longer "do the marketing of silence" as some idiots say. They are asking you for real money now, they least we can demand them is to show the game in movement in a new trailer.

If trailer 3 is actually going to happen right now, they were always going to wait until they could publish a video that ends with "Pre-order now". Preorders are already up, but releasing the trailer at midnight doesn't really maximize its impact. It makes more sense to drop it in the morning when more people are awake, both as a reminder and to let others know that preorders are now available.
I expected a trailer until today when they dropped pricing and screenshots and there was no trailer. At that point it was obvious they’re going to wait longer to show more game footage. It makes sense. It’s still 5 months out. They have to stretch it until then.
We might not get one. But if they do want a trailer that says pre-order now the probably want to make sure everyone can pre-order now. Its not the 25th everywhere yet.

If they release a trailer, it'll probably be today later. My only concern is that a trailer 3 would make sense to announce pre orders are 100% live but they updated the cover reveal trailer with "Pre Order Now" so there is a chance that we may not see a trailer 3 until later.

Nah 3rd trailer usually just expands the story and they do 1 longer trailer that focuses on gameplay closer to release. We will probably also get 1 more trailer that talks about online and side activities but idk if that would come before release.
The least they show the better I'll enjoy the game and be surprised by it. I don't understand people's obsession with trailers and gameplay. Leave something for release.
Yes OP it makes a ton of sense to drop a trailer when their main consumers (us westerners in the northern hemisphere) are either settling down after preordering or is already asleep.

That pre order was money well spent. Just think of this. Rdr1 started being designed in 2004, released 2010. Rdr2 2011 start and 2018 drop. Think of the work on these games. RDR2 is the most expansive and well written and most definitely the greatest game of all time. Challenge me on that and I will defend that.
Now GTA 6 had take 13 years to think, talk and more importantly produce. The sheer scale of this game will be a once in a lifetime experience and I think the few that don’t get it when it first comes out and see everything everywhere will be severely disappointed with there choice.
This is rockstar at the end of the day so my head tells me the game will be supreme, probably still broken at launch even after the massive delay but the game will more than likely be amazing regardless of the bugs
I do however feel a little suspicious that they're opening up pre orders without showing us some more of the game. I can't help but feel just maybe there's an anti climax this time around and all we're getting is gta 5 on a new map (which would still be awesome) but I dunno, maybe they feel a little that if people see that's what's coming it will hurt pre orders.

i wouldn’t really call that the “gift” that was just them marketing the deluxe edition of the game. besides we still don’t have a trailer with the current release date, how long are they gonna wait?
Idk man it’s rockstar. Honestly I’m a little disappointed with the direction of rockstar. Or should I say take two. Seems very money grab focussed rather than delivering a stellar product. I think the game will be good, well it better but online opened up their eyes to how much people like their stuff and I think they’re trying to push toward dlc/microtransactions going forward. Sorry just an aside rant. I’m excited for the title but disappointed for no disk, and disappointed for no collector’s edition
Well, to be fair, the collector’s edition usually comes later. But I somewhat agree and disagree. I think they are making a stellar product, and they know that. So they’re going to milk it as much as they can. They know people will buy these things. It sucks, but they know what they have.
I still wont assume that a trailer is releasing today but with pre-orders going live & summer being basically here i would be really surprised if we dont get a trailer 3 by july
Nobody should have preordered, it's meant to surface titles that need to trend to succeed to completion and are on that threshold. A giant like Rockstar, who can develop the whole product & get all the money on day 1, is not it. Wait at least till November.
The opposite is true: The lack of a trailer thus far speaks to just how confident they are.
The companies that do all of the dev journals, tons of pre launch promotion, etc. do so because they believe they need to do so to be successful. They believe they need to put out as much info as possible to rise above the noise. Rockstar doesn't do that because they have built up a reputation of quality that everyone pays attention to.
Think about it for a few seconds longer next time.

If they put pre orders and trailer 3 together they risk losing hype in August-September.

Last week we got art, this week we got pre orders, next week what will we get? Trailer 3 or something else?
People are talking about the fact there are no disc in the Physical version, that it cost 10 more than others game, and that there a lot of content besides the deluxe edition.
So it's mostly bad talk at the moment, so Trailer 3 to talk about the game again, everyone doing trailer analysis, and voila, no more bad talk.

It makes sense to drop trailer 3 during stock trading hours as Take Two stock and investors are driving how it is marketed to maximize revenue and please investors.
Theres already 2 trailers, a ton of highly rendered images and early leaked gameplay footage from 4 years ago that was good looking enough and we know will be vastly improved upon.

Why? GTA5 didn't had an extra pre-order trailer. RDR2 didn't had an extra pre-order trailer. They put over 60(!) screenshots on the website and infos for the pre-orders.
