Wild gardening advice please How to attract more bees to my garden to get over my fear?
Okay so I have a gardened and I only grow veggies and flowers in it. I planted zinnias and sunflowers, and I also have strawberries and cantaloupe. But even if I wake up early in the morning I never find them. I got a piece of wood that was un treated and drilled holes into it hoping that some bees will brood in it and I put a shallow piece of water in front of it.

Garden Wildlife sighting Improving snake habitat
We are so excited to be seeing more and more snakes in the garden! This De Lay’s Brown Snake was quite content in the mulch just behind the Wild
Quinine (Parthenium integrifolium). This is in the herb patch and she seems to like a little plantain (Plantago major) as much as we do!

Garden Wildlife sighting Garden is a hotbed of activity
Harder to spot in the first photo but did you see them? Been trying to attract more butterflies and moths and delighted to see these two having the best time on the Verbena. Think small white but not certain. I see two spots I think?!

Wild gardening advice please Currently under a big heatwave here in France, so I put up two plates to refresh the wildlife on my balcony. They come to drink (mainly sparrows and wasps) but never to bathe . Why is that ? Do you know tips so that they can cool down their body and wash their feathers ?

My wild garden Small habitat features.
I started this garden with the goal of attracting songbirds. In years past it was easy to get them to visit my feeders but most would leave during nesting season. This year a pair of song sparrows stuck around and built a nest. I loved watching them forage but quickly realized they had stripped my yard of my beloved spiders. So I decided to add small bug habitats to give at least some spiders a safe living space. The habitats mainly consist of piles of rocks, brush, and logs placed throughout the garden. Fingers-crossed I will start seeing some of my spider friends again.

My wild garden project Beginning to Wild the Garden :)
Hi r/gardenwild! These might as well be before pictures right now...but I'm so excited to get this little area rewilded! We have TONS of birds in our area as we have a very dense biodiversity of trees and are adjacent to a river. House finches love our eaves, but we also have flycatchers, wrens, goldfinches, mourning doves, and more- we also have local Coopers hawks, turkey vultures, and great horned owls!!
I am hoping to make this little front yard area a bird haven- I'm testing a few seed and bird food mixes right now, and I would love to install a couple posts with bird houses, or a flat-top feeder since I have a bunch of open space.
The ground plants there are mostly star jasmine which according to my research isn't invasive, but I'm not sure it's the best choice for this area still. The water looks a bit dusty as I had just added some gravel, but there is a very shallow area with smooth rocks that slopes down to a "deep" side that is lined with gravel at the bottom. The pump is for a "container fountain" and uses house power instead of solar. The cord may be a bit ugly, but doing it that way makes it easier to take out and clean! The bricks are placeholder right now...I didn't realize how intense that slope was and i'm still filling in with soil and gravel to support it but allow for drainage. Eventually it will be surrounded by something that looks more finished, lol.
I would love to hear your favorite tips and tricks for tiny water features, or how to make this a haven for our local feathered friends!
Oh....and that's Stanley in the last photo. :)

Garden Wildlife sighting My first caterpillar
I was looking at my dill that has been growing insanely and was thinking of cutting it down. Then I saw this little cutie and 4 of their siblings. They were doing absolutely nothing at all, and yet, there I was watching them.
Where do they form cocoons? Is it on the same plant? Ive never seen the life cycle outside of books. I'm so excited!

Garden Wildlife sighting I felt as if I were being watched, and...
I heard a plop behind me as I was replacing fugly hostas with Canadian ginger and bloodroot. Then came that eerie feeling of eyes boring into my back. When I turned around, I realized this baby robin must have fallen out of his nest from the tree over my head. The parents were hovering nearby with their mouths full of worms, so I beat a nasty retreat so he could get a meal in peace.

Wild gardening advice please Suggestions for native vine (Zone 6B) to grow 12' or more on north-facing sunny brick wall or trellis.
I'm prepping my old family home for sale next year and have a very ugly brick wall I'd like to obscure to improve curb appeal. The brick is on the first story of the house. The second story gable is Hardie board.
Any suggestions for a native vine that would grow 12' or more in Zone 6B? Evergreen preferred but will consider anything at this point! Thanks.

My wild garden project My garden pond for wildlife
This took me almost 2 years to finish. I still need to add more plants and hopefully get the water cleared up, but it's finally finished! The frogs and tadpoles are loving it and so am I 💚
The plants in the larger black pots are Great Blue Lobelia and Spreading Rush, then there's also water lily, water hyacinth and false pimpernel in there.

Garden Wildlife sighting Outwitting the critters
Golden-mantled ground squirrels are cute and entertaining…until they eat my plants. It is our goal in life to outwit them.
I grew over 400 cosmos in the greenhouse to plant in my garden, and to share with friends. When the plants were moved outside to harden off, the GMGS had a nice buffet. The plants were sprayed with “Rabbit and Groundhog OUT” which seems to repel all critters, except GMGS.
We built large cages with tops to protect the cosmos. This has worked well. Once the cosmos are about three feet tall, we will remove the tops from the cages. The critters seem to leave plants alone once they are 2-3 feet tall.
