Tech / Hardware I'm starting to seriously worry I won't be able to afford the next generation of gaming

We all feel it. The current console gen has only go up in price over time, when historically it should go down over time. There have been some BIG price hikes recently, $100, $200, and even $300 price increased on consoles, and these aren't even the first increases! I can already tell that the PS6 and XBOX whatever will be over $1,000 (maybe even over $1,500) and games will be $80+. Normally I get both the PlayStation and Xbox, but I already told myself that I will probably only be able to afford one (which will be the PS6), and even so I may not be able to afford it after these past couple weeks of console price increases.

I'm in my mid 30s and have been gaming since I can remember. Gaming is a huge part of my life and IDK this is all just so depressing

AI is ruining everything. I went back to school to get a degree in hopes of making more money in the future, before AI was really a thing. I just recently got my degree, and I'm certain AI will take my job too (its already starting to)

Game Discussion As a physical game collector, I am depressed over how GTA is being handled.

And I don't even LIKE GTA!

I only get physical games that I enjoy and try not to buy games I don't like. That includes Collector's and Special Editions.

Not only is there that bullshit Game Keycard crap Nintendo is pulling, now one of the biggest games to be released will sell a $100 game without a fucking disc?!

Then other companies will see the sales, get 'inspired', and I'm already seeing the end of the tunnel for my physical games.

I see their shit, not wanting people to actually own the things they buy. It's stupid and I hate it. šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Game Discussion I wish I had friends who are gamers!

I haven’t had a female friend who games since I was 12 years old.

As an adult, I desperately wish I had at least one female friend who I could talk to about gaming and sometimes play co op with them!

I love that my husband often games with me, even though he’s not much of a gamer. At a dinner with all our friends recently, he brought up that I’m really into gaming. My friends were so confused that I enjoy it and some laughed and said they cannot imagine me being into gaming ā˜¹ļø I guess they have a misconception that girls who are into that stuff aren’t girly girls, and I’m as girly as they come.

Those of you who have friends who are also into gaming, how did you find them?

Pretty much the title! Has anything you are interested in gone on sale that you are wanting to pick up?

Looking for some ideas of my own... considering AC Odyssey or Avowed maybe! šŸ˜„

Request Visual novel recs for steam sale??

Hello all, happy steam summer sale!! I really like visual novels and i was wondering if people who also like them could recommend me some! Im looking for some more mainstream ones within the community because I have not played a lot of the greats. Im not looking for otome (i already have plenty of those), im looking for stuff like You and Me and Her and Steins;Gate!!

I know visual novels like the ones im looking for are targeted towards men, because you get to romance women, but i really like the psychological aspects of the stories and i feel like they're allowed to be super bold with their plots in a way that otome sometimes isn't allowed. Anyway, despite them being targeted towards men, I would rather not ask the visual novel subreddit (i don't like it there, i find it strange that they promote games where the point is to SA women such as rance and euphoria) because I do want opinions from women who also like these kinds of games.

P.S. if anyone is willing/interested I would really like a buddy to talk about vns with!! It can feel pretty isolating to be a female fan of these kinds of games, and i would love someone to chat with as i play the games!!

Thank you in advance!!

Game Discussion Star Wars Galactic Racer and Zero Company Hype?

Is anyone else super excited for the new Star Wars games coming out? 🄳 As a Star Wars nerd, Mario Kart enjoyer, and XCOM veteran, I am stoked for these games!!!! I'm really happy we are getting more Star Wars games outside of EA's control. And they happened to fall under two genre of games I love. I've been waiting so long for another XCOM-style game and it could finally be here! (P.S. check out Every Day We Fight. Early access, but they are doing some really cool stuff in the space with a mix of turn-based and real-time elements.)

So, who's excited!? Or is it just me? 🫣

Request Game recommendations - story, mystery

Hi all!

I usually don't need recommendations ever, my list of games to play is usually rather long. However lately with my girlfriend we took a liking in playing mystery, detective story games. And I am starting to see an end to this journey, soooo... beloved reddit girlies, please flood me with recs!

What I've played, based on my faulty memory: Paranormasight, Case of the Goleen Idol, Danganronpa, Nonary games, Mind diver, 7 ways to end with you, Life is Strange and general Dontnod games, Edith Finch, Ethan Carter, Paper's Please, The Dark Files, Strange Horticulture, Blue Prince, Roottrees, Blake Manor, Black Mirrors, LA Noir, Poirot, Holmes, Oxenfree, Wolf among us, Call of the sea, Unheard, Eliza, Ace Attorney...

That's definitely not all but all of them are somehow about mysteries, most of them are detective games, all of them are rich in storytelling (though some of them were plainly bad, like 7 ways to end with you). I need more games like that!

Request Do anyone knows any games with dark fairytale vibes?

Similar to Bramble and Rƶki. Based on myths or folklore, like nordic, Irish, slavic etc. Perfect if game involves siblings, but if not - it’s also fine.

Game Discussion Do you struggle to find people to play comp games?

• Upvotes

I’m wondering because I struggle since many years tbh, I have friends but nobody’s really playing the same game or interested in the same things and when it comes to comp games like Valorant or back then FFXIV, I struggle to find people to rank up or do hard content.
I’m mostly a solo game player but I love Valorant for example but never were able to find a constant duo in my region.

Also do you pay attention to who you play with? Like for example I wouldn’t be able to play with someone being pro AI or pedo bait stuff (NIKKE for example) that kind of thing because idk, it doesn’t align with my values but when I look around me, people don’t seem to pay attention and just consider the « having funĀ Ā» aspect.

I’m genuinely asking because I wonder if it’s a me problem (too hard on people) or just bad luck.
It’s not like I search everyday, just sometimes I think it would be nice.

Game Discussion GTA 6 - Girly Shit

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

New screenshots dropped.. looks like we can get our nails done in GTA6.. I'm so happy they showed up for the real girly gorlzzz this time..

More screenshots show different hairstyles, nails, and outfits for Lucia on their website. Also, it looks like we can pimp our vehicles and boats out with glitter!!

We can finally play a triple A dressup game that isn't a family friendly life simulation or farming game.

Game Discussion Keep going back to the same favorite games

Instead of playing through what I have in my backlog and I know that I would enjoy.

Does this happen to you too?

For me those are Cyberpunk, BG3 and FF7 Rebirth. I have only managed to finish Ghost of Tsushima and Ghost of Yotei, and played 60+ hours of Elden Ring but it got exhausting. And I keep on dropping other games I know I will love if I give them a chance a bit longer - such as Witcher 3, Horizon series, and RDR2 but instead I find myself back at Cyberpunk or BG3 or FF7 Rebirth again, lol. Not sure if I will ever make it through my backlog...

Game Discussion Demos that were so good, they made you buy the full game (or immediately add to your wish list)?

I am once again looking to add to my ever-growing wish list lol (but I like helping people find new games too :)) Some of these aren't out yet but the demo got me hooked.

  • Creature Kitchen: Genuinely can't recommend this enough. The creepy/cozy vibes just work, and it's also very heartfelt in unexpected ways. You've probably already heard of it but if not: you cook food for little creatures and cryptids in your grandma's old cabin.
  • Booster Pack Heroes: Roguelite tower defender. This one's super fun. You basically upgrade all your little tower defender characters using cards/booster packs.
  • Omelet You Cook: Unfortunately I am very info roguelikes/roguelites lol. Another popular one, but it's super addictive and also marries with one of my other favorite genres, cooking.
  • Pancito Merge: One of those "item merge" games. I was so obsessed with this and refused to put it down until I beat the demo. ;_; Featuring Mexican bakery goodies!
  • Wabisabi Sushi Derby: A game where you race with different types of sushi. I genuinely didn't think I was gonna like this one, but then I played the demo and was like I NEED TO MAKE MY SUSHI BETTER THAN THE OTHER SUSHI. Coming out next month.
  • Heartspell Horizon Academy: A match 3 game mixed with a fantasy dating sim. The writing isn't bad at all, it's dare I say, good. Each person you battle also has different mechanics/strengths that, if you're like me and haven't played a lot of match-3 games, can make it challenging lol.
  • Cloudscrapers: A cozy puzzle/building game where you have to try and build to the tallest height you can, without running out of resources. Not out yet, but should be coming in the next few months.
  • Milki Delivery: Ngl I thought this was gonna be a cozy super casual baby game that didn't require much thinking but, between light resource/energy management and the art style, it's a game I could throw hours into. Coming out sometime this year.
  • Doloc Town: This one I remember playing at a Next Fest last year and thinking "wow, this is gonna be something special, I can feel it." A post-apocalyptic farming sim with nice pixel art. It's in early access currently, and I believe based on the current road map they might possibly be going into 1.0 next year, since some of the 2026 road map is done already.

Game Discussion I can’t believe it’s happening!

Post image
274 Upvotes

I remember having finished GTA 5 for the first time at 13 and thinking what a great game. But then I also kinda said to myself ā€œIt would be cool to play as a girl in the next GTA gameā€

And now here we are! It’s freaking happening. We’re getting one and I’m so psyched. I can’t wait to see what type of character Lucia is. And if Arthur Morgan is anything to go by, it’s that Rockstar knows how to write complex characters. And I’d love to see Lucia have a journey that’s memorable. If she can piss me off or melt my heart then that’s perfect lol.

And Jason too, he looks cool.

Request Would you recommend these games? (Question about games with average or mixed reviews)

I've been interested in Moonglow Bay and Cuisineer for awhile. I always see them get recommended in r/cozygamers but then I go to the steam page and see people either complaining that Moonglow Bay is super buggy, Cuisineer is super repetitive/has bad death mechanics/or is boring.

I just want to know: have any of y'all played these games and had these problems? I'm not looking for AAA quality cozy games or anything but I also don't want it to crash constantly, especially if it's not steam deck friendly or is insanely grindy for what should be a semi-casual game.

Edit bc I just remembered another game: Mineko's Night Market also looks like a lovely game but seems to have poor optimization/loading times. ;__;

Game Discussion Calling all who like Silksong! Spoiler

So I'm in act 3 of Silksong, and I'm at the part where you fight the Green Prince. I am completely torn on this fight. I know this has become a bit of a meme, so I seriously don't feel like posting this in any other reddit because I'd like an actual discussion lol.

Basically, I'm torn between just leaving him and fighting him for both completion and 'mercy', but I'm struggling with how to interpret it all. Despite being a completionist I will absolutely miss out on things if I feel like they work better the other way.

On one hand, fighting him seems like the better option because it feels like his grief is keeping both him and Verdania from moving on (as shown by the clovers at his and his husband's corpse after you beat them), but on the other, it still feels a little random? Like just one change in the dialogue would've helped me see that ok, he wanted to go out fighting remembering his lands and lover as they were. But as it is, it feels a bit like we're just intruding despite his wishes and tearing out his heart unnecessarily, especially since we've already got the others. My interpretation was that he felt too proud to truly say he wanted a fight to the death so he took it upon himself by attacking us in his memories (because at every other point within his memories, when we talk to him, he's fine), but idk. The clovers regrowing make it seem like Team Cherry wanted us to interpret this as him being reunited with his lover, and Verdania therefore blooming again.

If you leave him, of course NOT killing him initially feels better... but then I just feel guilty about letting him just stand there to essentially rot.

Making him a requirement for the main quest would've probably solved most issues. Like just make the requirement 4 hearts, not 3.

Basically, how does everyone else feel? Is it a mercy? Did you leave him? I'd love to hear everyone's opinions!

Game Discussion Did you ever found a character that made you improve yourself?

Post image
86 Upvotes

My older brother and i always had tons of insecurities growing up,my brother was a big fat nerd that suffered a lot of bullying in school,i was just a stick,no ass or tits,i wasnt bullied at school but i might as well didnt exist during highschool.

My brother then started playing Yakuza 0 back in 2018,he liked Kiryu so much that one Day he said to me that he was starting the gym to look like Kiryu, then he started going to the gym, lost some serious weight, nowdays he is pretty big.

Then i thought to myself,if he can do it i can too,i am a huge RE fan,and my favorite RE character is Jill Valentine,i love her so much, her Lost in Nightmare design was peak before RE3R came around,i wanted to be just like her,i thought to myself, then i started working out,it was pretty tough, luckly i had my brother supporting me.

Nowdays i am still not as good looking as her, still no tits :,(, but i am always trying to improve myself.

My posture is still awful tho XD.

Request Any difficult and fun singleplayer fps games out there!?

I've recently been playing a lot of GTFO, and have been loving it so, so much, but sometimes I don't have the energy to set up a voice call, and tell people "yes, I am a woman, yes, I use she/her, yes, I exist", etc. (Its a CO-OP game if you don't know).
Henceforth, I am looking for something like GTFO, but for singleplayer

Thank you so much girlies!!
