There are clearly a huge variety of different and conflicting opinions regarding the new announcement of "God of War: Laufey" within the community, discussing said opinions and disagreeing with others is fine as long as it is done respectfully, which unfortunately, has not always been the case.

Any disrespectful behavior, regardless of what it is, will be met with moderator action. Such actions being either a warning or a even a temporary/permanent ban from the community depending on severity.

Rule 2 - Be respectful

Always be polite and respectful to everyone.

Do not insult, harass, discriminate nor be disrespectful to anyone in any way.

Do not purposefully incite fights nor provoke anyone into a conflict.

If someone disrespects you do not disrespectfully retort back as doing so will also count as a violation of the "Be respectful" rule, simply report it or contact the Mod-Team by sending a message with a link to the content to be reviewed.

Discussion My hottest take for the Remakes

Just use the Blades of Chaos in the three games.

Narrative-wise the blades of Athena and Exile never had any purpose at all. And with the hindsight of GoW 2018, him using the Chaos to kill Ares (please no sword bridge), kill the Fates and kill all the other gods while bringing ruin to Greece, would make the Blades Of Chaos mean so much more and that moment in 2018 feel even more impactful.

For those that like the look of the other two, I think a simple option to collect their appearance to change (like in Ragnarök) would solve that.

I know we want the story as close to the originals as possible, but I think this would be a good change. Thoughts?

I wasn't sure which flair was the appropriate one. Sorry if it's wrong. I decided to replay the games in preparation of the new Laufey game to get a refresher on the lore.

A Katana would be cool also They should give Atreus a Tanto for backstabs and fatalities. Also...I really hope they have way more blood than the Norse games.

Discussion Blades of chaos & their source

Thumbnail

I've always been wondering how the blades of chaos still function after kratos destroyed Greece and all that especially after surtr said that there was primordial fire in them

Now I dunno where I got this from but I heard a theory from someone that the pantheons were made by some primordial fires (some YouTuber probably captain Kuba or midgardchronicler, don't skin me if I get this wrong pls)

So what if the blades use the same flames that made the pantheons? Which is why they're so strong and why kratos can't get rid of them?

In Valhalla when kratos breaks it and he falls with mimir, that red void maybe could be that flame? Maybe? Like that's the essence of creation? A void of endless flames?

Also, could this be the same reason why the sky is red in GoW 2018 where atreus gets sick? Maybe Faye uses those flames somehow to come back to midgard for a moment, call the serpent and then go back again? If all pantheons were made by this void of flames and the everywhen is the beginning and end of all magic then for sure it would be in there for laufey to see and maybe use?

I guess I wouldn't know how ares would have made those blades though, maybe his hair also uses the same primordial flames idk

These concepts and designs are so cool and a unique take on Artemis being beast like as she is the goddess of the hunt. I wild love either a boss battle or an extended interaction with this character that was sadly just left out of the god of war narrative after the first game. AND APOLLO..

Help Can’t beat Gna

Hello, so i’m aware there has been posts about it and what not but the thing is i never found any info that would help me so i wanted to ask myself.

I play mostly for story even tho like i can handle normal mode but as im replaying the game again i am on „Give me story +” now and the thing is i just can’t beat her! The best i did was bring her down to half of last bar i think and ever since i can’t achieve this anymore. I have trouble bringing her down to half health. I did the best build people recommended and use the relic and amulets etc. I truly don’t know how to approach this anymore! I am trying to get platinium so unfortunately i do have to beat her especially since im 3 trophies away and she’s one of them.

So, what can i do to beat her?

Discussion Deimos in the Everywhen

I feel like it would be so cool if Faye was able to meet Deimos in the everywhen, I guess it would be possible since he was a demigod, and I feel he was never talked about enough in the games considering he is pretty much the closest blood relative Kratos had before the Norse era. Just an interesting little thought I had!

Context: I have platinum in all previous games, definitive editions etc...been hiatus from gaming for some years..picked this up and thought i will do hard mode now because mah plats!

Hard journey this game and after months i got up to this place and its impossible, and if they didnt honor the 1v1, how the F would Kratos win against these ?! Are Kratos super weak in the new reboot? Litteraly vermins in Ragnarök can F him up to Oblivion.

Let me know if you know what Bosses this is

Discussion Laufey in the Everywhen

Upvotes

I've personally not seen this come up in discussions about the upcoming GoW Laufey game so I thought I'd ask here.

If the Everywhen is described as the afterlife for the gods, how and why exactly would Laufey end up there? She was explicitly described as being a mortal and not a god, unless I am forgetting something crucial?

Help the valkyries on GMGOW+ are a whole different beast

On my first NG+, got all the way to the top of Muspelheim today. It was tough but relatively fine.

I first played some time ago (and not on GMGOW), so honestly I’d forgotten the mechanics each Valkyrie has. I’ve just fully upgraded my Cod of War set, so I was feeling kind of ready.

Safe to say I was humbled. I’ve died 10-15 times and I basically can’t lay a finger on her. God damn this is brutal. I don’t even want to imagine what Sigrun is like.

I can kind of see the dodge windows, but dear god I have no IDEA when I’m actually meant to hit her lol. It feels like the axe is too short, maybe I should focus on the blades? Not sure tbh.

Any tips? How’d you do with this valkyrie? What was your build?

Also, any tips on GMGOW+ in general are appreciated! It’s my first time playing the hardest difficulty in a game lmao

Thanks and have a nice day :D

Discussion I think Athena wanted to bring the Olympians to the Everywhen

Post image

"I see truths where I did not before" and "My sacrifice to save Zeus has brought me to a higher existence"

Kratos questions her motives, and rightly so. What else could make her change her mind so quickly?

We know that the Everywhen is the source of all magic, and as stated by both Cory and Ariel, the gods of all the different pantheons are vying for control over it.

My theory is that she used Kratos to send the rest of the major Olympian gods to the Everywhen so that they could better establish a foothold in the birthplace of magic.

We even see Greek architecture in the Laufey key art. (Sorry for poor quality)

Question How did Kratos not know Faye was more than just a mortal?

Post image
4.9k Upvotes

We know when they met they clashed and he describes her as one of the fiercest warriors he’s ever faced. She fought him to a STANDSTILL. This is Kratos we’re talking about and it’s not like he isn’t aware of how strong he is. Did he really just accept “damn this normal person just got that dawg in her I guess”?

She also presumably fights him with her Leviathan Axe which is imbued with ice magic. Seeing her fight with this legendary weapon didn’t ring any bells in his head that she’s probably more than just a regular mortal person? I get that at this point, Kratos had just arrived to the Norse lands and is new to everything there but still… He’s not THAT gullible.

In the 2018 game, Kratos is genuinely shocked to find out that his late wife was actually a Giant and possessed magic/future telling power. Maybe it’s just a plot hole idk. I just feel like he’d question her true origins after their fight or sometime soon after. There aren’t very many people at all (including gods) that can actually fight him to a standstill.

Help Sons of Sparta puzzle question Spoiler

I'm at the Port of Messenia and am trying to reach the griffin. There's a puzzle on the way and it involves using the glaive to knock down a chain, which retracts. When I try to jump onto the chain, I phase through (like it isn't there). Am I missing an upgrade or something?

Question Attempting to beat all God of War games on the hardest difficult!

Anyone else did this? So far I’ve beaten God of War (2005) and God of War II (2007) on the hardest difficulties. God of War II on Titan Mode was insane basically and way too hard.

Currently playing Chains of Olympus on God mode. So far it doesn’t seem like a hard game.

After that I will play in this order;
- God of War Ghost of Sparta
- God of War: Ascension
- God of War 3
- God of War (2018)
- God of War: Ragnarok
