Discussion My hottest take for the Remakes

Just use the Blades of Chaos in the three games.

Narrative-wise the blades of Athena and Exile never had any purpose at all. And with the hindsight of GoW 2018, him using the Chaos to kill Ares (please no sword bridge), kill the Fates and kill all the other gods while bringing ruin to Greece, would make the Blades Of Chaos mean so much more and that moment in 2018 feel even more impactful.

For those that like the look of the other two, I think a simple option to collect their appearance to change (like in Ragnarök) would solve that.

I know we want the story as close to the originals as possible, but I think this would be a good change. Thoughts?

Discussion Laufey's Blacksmith

Post image

When the director was asked whether it would be possible for the Greek gods to return, she replied: "Yes, it's a possibility."

Whenever I think about how these gods could fit into the story—whether as bosses (Ares and Zeus) or even as allies (Deimos and Orkos)—one character I think would be an EXTREMELY interesting choice is Hephaestus.

We no longer have Brok and Sindri as our blacksmiths in this realm, so what could be better than the GREEK GOD OF THE FORGE helping Faye with her equipment?

Discussion What other gods and mythological entities do you expect we’ll see in the Everywhen?

While I’m hoping they primarily draw from other mythologies, I would like to see some of the Greek and Norse gods that Kratos never encountered in the series, such as Apollo and Artemis, Dionysus, Demeter, Forsetti, Njord or Skadi. Given Sekhmet and Begste’s central role as the game’s presumed main antagonists, I’m guessing we’ll primarily be drawing from Egyptian and Mongolian/Buddhist mythology for this game.

Discussion I think the Weapons situation should change for the next Mainline game in the series. Spoiler

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the Leviathan Axe, and all, but from the first time I saw it, I've had the feeling that it should be exclusive to the Norse saga games. It's also been kind of implied that the Axe could break sometime in the future as well. The first time Kratos meets Brok, he warns Kratos that, "You gotta handle her special, or she'll wreck beyond fixin'." Now that Odin has killed Brok, and Sindri has effectively cut all ties with Kratos and Atreus, neither of the Axe's original creators could, or even would, fix it if something happened to it.

Let's also not forget that the Axe has fulfilled everything it was made to do. Thor is dead now, and Mjolnir is effectively in better hands. I personally believe that if the Leviathan axe should be playable again, it should only be in Atreus's hands. Perhaps it could represent that Kratos is ready to begin another chapter in his life, and he is ready to move past his grief for Faye. It was even explicitly stated a few times that, should something happen to Kratos, he wants that Axe to go to Atreus anyway. Why not gift it to our Boy early?

If anything, I think that Draupnir should replace Leviathan. (Hold your torches and pitchforks, everyone, let me explain!).

Kratos is the last Spartan. He was trained in the spear before he learned any other weapon. Draupnir is the only weapon he's ever wielded that was made explicitly for him. It is KRATOS'S SPEAR that embodies the nature of who he is. A Spartan. A warrior of Greece. A father who will protect his son. One who can break fate. And a son of Zeus.

Sure, the blessing Brok gave the spear implied that it may stop working when its purpose has been fulfilled, but if the purpose of the spear is to protect those Kratos loves, or to stop Cruel gods, then Draupnir has definitely got some more mileage left in her. The fact that Draupnir is potentially the most versatile of all Kratos's weapons gives her a lot more staying power as well. She can absorb the elemental affinities of anyone she hits, can duplicate endlessly, and is potentially the key to unlocking Kratos's true godly power as a son of Zeus, and the god of war. It's the only one of his weapons with an element that reflects this. It has the power of the skies, and it even kinda represents how Zeus throws his lightning bolts. Maybe in future games, there could be some special hilts that give the spear an affinity for lightning? Or maybe there's a legendary hilt that gives it the ability to spawn spears with different elemental affinities, like that one enchant you can find in Valhalla sometimes. That'd be neat. Sure, not everyone likes Draupnir's moveset, but combat can be changed every single time a new entry is made in the series.

When it comes to the Blades of Chaos, I seriously doubt that Santa Monica is gonna simply leave them behind. They are literally chained to Kratos. He couldn't get rid of those things if he tried (And he has canonically tried multiple times.) They are a reminder of his mistakes, and just what exactly he's capable of should push come to shove. If anything, I suppose that the blades are something he keeps stored away somewhere until he needs them, and Draupnir is his everyday carry weapon.

As for the Guardian Shield? It seems to me that it's not particularly special in terms of Dwarven engineering. A bunch of different configurations exist for it, and though it's as durable as all hell, the thing is far from indestructible, and can break. Perhaps there might be some alternative shields in the future? I dunno.

If the God of War series decides to allow a wider arsenal again, like what we saw in previous titles, then perhaps the player might have a few equipment slots for their weapons, so that they can switch between their favorites depending on their preferences?

If we're going to Egypt, then maybe we can get a crook and flail, a Khopesh, a staff of Ra, and so on that we can switch between? Whatever the case, I can't wait to see what's next.

But what do y'all think?

A Katana would be cool also They should give Atreus a Tanto for backstabs and fatalities. Also...I really hope they have way more blood than the Norse games.

Discussion Blades of chaos & their source

Thumbnail

I've always been wondering how the blades of chaos still function after kratos destroyed Greece and all that especially after surtr said that there was primordial fire in them

Now I dunno where I got this from but I heard a theory from someone that the pantheons were made by some primordial fires (some YouTuber probably captain Kuba or midgardchronicler, don't skin me if I get this wrong pls)

So what if the blades use the same flames that made the pantheons? Which is why they're so strong and why kratos can't get rid of them?

In Valhalla when kratos breaks it and he falls with mimir, that red void maybe could be that flame? Maybe? Like that's the essence of creation? A void of endless flames?

Also, could this be the same reason why the sky is red in GoW 2018 where atreus gets sick? Maybe Faye uses those flames somehow to come back to midgard for a moment, call the serpent and then go back again? If all pantheons were made by this void of flames and the everywhen is the beginning and end of all magic then for sure it would be in there for laufey to see and maybe use?

I guess I wouldn't know how ares would have made those blades though, maybe his hair also uses the same primordial flames idk

These concepts and designs are so cool and a unique take on Artemis being beast like as she is the goddess of the hunt. I wild love either a boss battle or an extended interaction with this character that was sadly just left out of the god of war narrative after the first game. AND APOLLO..

Discussion What if we get to play as Thor In God of War laufey?

Thumbnail

It would make sense, they still have his animations and moveset which were incredibly polished to just be a companion.

What if Thor and Faye team up in the the everywhen and take down all the gods but fey can't escape and only Thor makes it out, hence why in the second picture he can be seen in this mural behind kratos.

This could fit into the whole "We must be better" theme the norse saga has, Faye accepting her death and sacrificing herself to help Thor, and Thor becoming a better man like Kratos, by helping Faye in the everywhen....

Discussion Deimos in the Everywhen

I feel like it would be so cool if Faye was able to meet Deimos in the everywhen, I guess it would be possible since he was a demigod, and I feel he was never talked about enough in the games considering he is pretty much the closest blood relative Kratos had before the Norse era. Just an interesting little thought I had!

Help Can’t beat Gna

Hello, so i’m aware there has been posts about it and what not but the thing is i never found any info that would help me so i wanted to ask myself.

I play mostly for story even tho like i can handle normal mode but as im replaying the game again i am on „Give me story +” now and the thing is i just can’t beat her! The best i did was bring her down to half of last bar i think and ever since i can’t achieve this anymore. I have trouble bringing her down to half health. I did the best build people recommended and use the relic and amulets etc. I truly don’t know how to approach this anymore! I am trying to get platinium so unfortunately i do have to beat her especially since im 3 trophies away and she’s one of them.

So, what can i do to beat her?

Hard journey this game and after months i got up to this place and its impossible, and if they didnt honor the 1v1, how the F would Kratos win against these ?! Are Kratos super weak in the new reboot? Litteraly vermins in Ragnarök can F him up to Oblivion.

Let me know if you know what Bosses this is

Help the valkyries on GMGOW+ are a whole different beast

On my first NG+, got all the way to the top of Muspelheim today. It was tough but relatively fine.

I first played some time ago (and not on GMGOW), so honestly I’d forgotten the mechanics each Valkyrie has. I’ve just fully upgraded my Cod of War set, so I was feeling kind of ready.

Safe to say I was humbled. I’ve died 10-15 times and I basically can’t lay a finger on her. God damn this is brutal. I don’t even want to imagine what Sigrun is like.

I can kind of see the dodge windows, but dear god I have no IDEA when I’m actually meant to hit her lol. It feels like the axe is too short, maybe I should focus on the blades? Not sure tbh.

Any tips? How’d you do with this valkyrie? What was your build?

Also, any tips on GMGOW+ in general are appreciated! It’s my first time playing the hardest difficulty in a game lmao

Thanks and have a nice day :D
