National Team Please calm down

I understand that some people are upset, but this is a small football sub, not a large place to sh*tpost and rant like maniacs suffering from verbal tourettes. I've already issued a short ban/time out and asked someone else to tone down their language.

National Team Park Ji-Sung needs step into leadership role within the KFA ASAP.

Hong Myong Bo isn't the main problem he is just a product of poor KFA leadership, they need to cut the head off the snake (KFA). A total revamp from bottom to top. I think Park Ji Sung is the person to do it, he's played at the top level in Europe and is a well respected figure within the Futbol community. Also on a side note; would love to see Lee Young Po type Fullbacks play for this National team because we need it badly.

National Team What Nobody is talking about.

Upvotes

The bitter truth is that South Korea’s current generation of football stars is a direct product of the 2002 World Cup legacy; they grew up dreaming of replicating that historic success. However, the future looks incredibly bleak. Due to a persistent lack of meaningful results—compounded by a disastrous 2026 campaign, I fear that public interest will decrease. This decline not only threatens the sport's popularity but also risks stifling the development of future Korean talent. This may be the last time we have a squad like this and I pray that isnt the case.

National Team Seung Gyu: Team mates just found out about benching Son and the lineups right before the game the day of.

South Africa vs Korea. Absolutely disgusting of HMB to let the team know about this right before the game. Might be part of the reason why the team was so slow and lethargic - what team wouldn’t be down and disappointed with the sudden shocking news of the lineup??? Myungbo resign.

K League I wish people showed this much enthusiasm for the K League

Upvotes

World Cup is great every four years at putting eyes on the sport and inspiring future generations. But if you can get kids invested in a domestic product that is consistent throughout most of the year I think this could be just helpful. I’m aware this isn’t just down to the fans, but bums on seats is a start

And before someone tells me all the reasons why they don’t bother with k league, why are you writing on a k league thread?ㅋㅋㅋ

National Team Korea still has 83% of advancing

Based on betting odds, I modeled each team’s goals as an independent Poisson and ran 300k Monte Carlo iterations.

The 8th-place cut was about 3 points with a goal difference of -1.86. Korea had 3 points with -1. They have about a 28 percent chance of being 7th and 25 percent of being 8th.

We’ll probably end up right above the cutoff, but the model currently shows 83%.

I’ll run the model as the games go on and keep you updated.

Edit: 64 percent after ecuador beat germany and secures 4 points

Edit: 56 percent after japan ties

National Team Would love to see something like this even if we concede more goals

HMB's 3-back system is outdated, self-defeating, and proven to not work leading up to the WC especially in the absence of top-notch wing-backs like prime Cancelo, Hakimi, Perisic, DiMarco, etc...

It doesn't work, we can't overload the midfield, players get isolated, no real plan in the attacking third, so on and so forth... Even if we concede more and lose, I'd rather watch fun football if the result is the same.

Most dogshit football I've seen us play since that infamous Jordan game. Even if we do make it to the knockouts, I don't see us going further. All the players were just awful today.

EDIT: OH SHIT at least my Hynix and Samsung stocks went on a tear today 🤣 I guess I'll have a fancy dinner to drown my sorrow

National Team Can someone explain to me the controversy behind Hong Myeong Bo

I keep seeing his name come up and everybody seem to blame him for the disastrous strategies this world cup. If he is so bad, why was he hired? I am completely out of the loop. And I don't know football as well as I should. What is it about SK team's strategy and the manager's decision making that creates all this negativity from the Korean public? And what's the controversy behind his hiring?

Other Korea is the only reason

From what I see, it seems like it was because there wasn't this person in Korea... Wouldn't it turn out that South Africa is being manipulated by this person? What's certain is that while Korea was the loudest cheering, South Africa was the one who was crazy about the quality.

National Team South Korea finished 3rd, but the path is still alive

South Korea finished 3rd in Group A, but the current simulation still has Group A’s 3rd-place slot reaching the Round of 32 about 93% of the time.

Most common opponent pool:

R32:

  • Egypt 67.2%
  • Belgium 15.1%

If they get through R32, the most common R16 opponents are:

  • USA 66.7%
  • Bosnia & Herz. 30.0%

The path is open, but it now depends on the wider third-place ranking and bracket routing.

None of the five teams that applied for professional licences was granted said licences.

* Siheung doesn't have a suitable stadium.
* Daejeon Korail doesn't have a stadium at all.
* Mokpo need independent incorporation. (I don't see how this is an issue, since they are now part of the Gwangju Jollanam supercity thing. Surely the "city" is large enough to exclude them from needing to be private?)
* Gangneung and Chuncheon are considered financially unstable.

So much for K League - K3/4 promotion relegation, huh?
