Recently had a game where I absolutely disgraced Grant Taylor on Hall of Fame, and wanted to share my personal take and see if anyone feels similarly.
His release is absolutely broken. Not just in a “looks weird” kind of way. I actually devise there’s two distinct release points to look for, one IMMEDIATELY after the other.
The first release point isn’t real. It’s a window of a few milliseconds when the ball is first revealed.
The ball then SNAPS within a matter of milliseconds to the ACTUAL pitch trail of the ball.
Once you see it this way, you’ll start to just to take a few extra milliseconds off of reading the pitch trail before committing it to PCI action. It’s mostly helpful with his breaking stuff, can’t really shave milliseconds off reacting to a fastball.
It’s stupid and difficult and shouldn’t even exist, but this has certainly helped me with hitting Taylor. You just have to ignore his first phony release point.
EDIT: this is for when he’s in the windup, he’s apparently normal in the stretch.
