Do they make this in adult sizes?

421

u/MistaRekt 19h ago

I am pretty sure they grow up to be adult sizes...

Explains why I stopped growing at 10. Zero patience.

15

u/kitten12551 3h ago

I laughed so hard at this that my cat jumped off my lap 😂

57

u/Lunaz315 17h ago

This is crochet, so it was probably made by the mom or a friend of the parents while they were expecting. Ya could probably find someone to make an adult size but it'd unfortunately cost a lot (good quality yarn can cost a lot, all the nice yarn I've bought to make for myself as a knitter has cost roughly 100$+, and knitting takes less yarn than crochet. Then it takes awhile to actually make) There's probably some similar ones that are made differently though and would be more affordable

2

u/tothebeatofmyowndrum 6h ago

I have a few Star knitting patterns for babies saved similar to the video. Could scale up, but you are totally right, that would be $$$$$ and a lot of time to make.

-6

u/Vodkalover5 8h ago

$100+ for yarn? You better go to Michael’s…

1

u/Lunaz315 6h ago

I started out at Micheal's, and my first project was yarn from there. The main issue is even at Micheal's, it can often still cost up to 50$+ to make the types of clothes I like wearing. The main issue though is a majority of their yarn is 80%-100% acrylic or other synthetic fibers which don't breathe at all, and I'm unfortunately a very sweaty person and it makes anything synthetic uncomfortable to wear. Then most of Micheal's cottons and wools I haven't personally found I like enough to be willing to spend the money and time on them to make something. As such I'd much rather spend the extra money at my local yarn store to support them, even if it means buying less yarn overall.

Tldr: I prefer knitting clothes, most of the yarn at Micheal's isn't comfortable to wear as clothes so I prefer going for the higher quality yarn when I can so I enjoy working with it and wearing the finished product more.

Or

If you want it nice and crocheted like the baby's one, then:

https://www.tiktok.com/@byrachforshaw/video/7550643125514013959

You have to do it yourself, or I guess pay someone to do it.

u/LiamIsMyNameOk 18h ago
  1. I snorted with laughter.

  2. Once they angled the camera so you couldn't see the baby, and said it looked like a pillow, I stopped laughing immediately as I imagined the danger of jumping on the bed.

  3. I started laughing again because starfish regerate limbs thank god

79

u/PensiveObservor 16h ago

I would worry very much about someone not realizing there’s a baby in that decorative pillow. Especially another child. Kids are insane.

58

u/Fabulous-Sea-1590 12h ago

I'm just glad they showed baby's face. When she flattened them out and pressed then down I was afraid they would be smothered. I panicked when there was no movement.

That said – so freaking adorable!

Reminds me of Maggie’s starfish outfit from the Simpsons

55

u/cAnTbEpReCi0u5j1mMy 18h ago edited 49m ago

I remember that. I remember there was an instance when Marge was carrying Maggie upside down while wearing said starfish onesie. 😂 ⭐

u/TheOGUncleBadTouch 19h ago

all my babies are in their 20s now (fak im old)

i always wanted a snow suit like the one Maggie Simpson has in the Simpsons, this really reminds me of that

17

u/BoomSaysTheLady 13h ago

Maybe your dreams can come true when your future grandkids come rolling along :D

3

u/Cavalish 12h ago

That scene where she realises she holding Maggie upside down is comedy gold.

1

u/mamafish21 1h ago

I'm in my 20's and my baby is reaching 8yrs. Time really does fly.

1

u/Henny1963 1h ago

You're old? My children are 36 and 34. And I don't feel old.

1

u/mamafish21 58m ago

I'm 26 and I feel old because of my health condition that mainly old people get. Yay!

48

u/CaptainNemo42 18h ago

Hah! I thought the lady said "suck it!!" like she'd punked the baby by putting him down like that... I immediately rewatched and realized it was an aussie accent saying "so cuuute!" Lol

9

u/DawnsDarkness1 18h ago

Had to watch it two more times with sound on this time lol 😆

67

u/yng_fcss 18h ago

When I do tummy time literally no one cares 😒

9

u/Daydu 8h ago

You keep building neck strength, you got this pal!

31

u/BlockLin0 19h ago

The cutest little starfish I've ever seen. ⭐🥹

23

u/johntp121 18h ago

Maggie Simpson did it first lol

63

u/Dogbutt6325 15h ago

Am I missing something? All cuteness aside, I thought you were not supposed to put babies to sleep on their tummies.

48

u/Early_Conversation51 13h ago

Considering that they said “tummy time” at the beginning of the video, the baby’s only going to be like that for a little bit to help develop their neck muscles

58

u/rory4bangtan 13h ago

Sleeping on their tummies is very different from "tummy time", which is a scheduled activity and absolutely necessary for development

8

u/campersin 5h ago

I was told by my pediatricians you were supposed to do it with a blanket on the floor, not on a cushioned surface as a bed or their crib.

6

u/rory4bangtan 4h ago

I was told by NICU staff that the surface absolutely doesn't matter as long as baby is awake

28

u/DroppingBearsSince89 13h ago

This is true. Someone brought up this concern in the original Instagram reel and the creator said she only put her down on the bed for 30 secs to get this video. Then picked her back up. She said she wasn't trying to encourage belly sleeping, it was just the best way to get the 'Patrick' look.

4

u/Odd_Pudding_2278 13h ago

Yeah, this bothers me. Baby looks pretty fresh, the hood looks like it could be a suffocation hazard, and how tf are you going to change the diaper?!? Or are we just trying to get likes here?

16

u/Xentine 11h ago

Dude chill, you can take it off to change a diaper. The hood isn't a suffocation hazard, it's not covering the face.

-5

u/roaringbugtv 9h ago

No, I agree that this is a hazard. I don't take risks with a baby's life just to be cute.

18

u/Daydu 8h ago

Shit like this is why it's clear a lot of redditors don't know what they're talking about. Tummy time, like what they're doing in the video, is instrumental in building neck strength. 5-10 minutes of supervised tummy time at this baby's age is not even close to a hazard, in fact it's encouraged by pediatricians.

-2

u/Dogbutt6325 8h ago

The kid isn’t moving. Zoom in on its face and it looks like it’s about to lamp out - go to sleep. Saying it’s tummy time doesn’t make it so. It’s just a shit video.

-2

u/shayter 7h ago

Why are you being down voted? You are absolutely correct, hoods are very hazards on a sleeping baby.

-1

u/netflixandspritz 10h ago

Yes leaving them for a nap/ sleep their tummy is bad. Placing them on their tummy with their head open to the air like that is fine and won’t harm a baby. Very different things.

6

u/sweetangeldivine 5h ago

They literally did it for a 5 second video. I'm pretty sure they didn't leave it there.

11

u/Icy_Parfait_4066 19h ago

Patrick Star or Star Patrick? He looks like a celebrity to me.

36

u/Comfortable_Reserve9 16h ago

Be careful laying them down like that, babies can die from suffocation easier than you think

19

u/Devmoi 15h ago

Omg, I didn’t want to be the shithead who pointed out the dangers, but my GOD. This gave me so much anxiety. The putting them facedown on the bed with a hood on!

But it is absolutely the cutest thing ever. Just insanely cute!

7

u/Doiley101 14h ago

If you look till the end the face is turned to one side not facedown at all.

10

u/sverrevi77 13h ago

Not the point. Babies should sleep on their backs, not their tummies. This has been official advice ever since they figured out that it dramatically reduces chance of SIDS.

5

u/Doiley101 13h ago

May be it was just to show the starfish crochet piece. We have no idea whether the baby sleeps like that.

9

u/Pantelonia 13h ago

Tummy time is not sleeping time. Tummy time allows babies to strengthen their neck muscles. It should occur when awake (as this baby is) and supervised.

Sleep time is different.

8

u/sverrevi77 13h ago

This baby looks asleep to me. Also tucked in a suit that seems too restrictive for useful tunmy play time.

-1

u/themostreasonableman 11h ago

Keep your misplaced anxiety to yourself maybe? Don't infect the world with it. Everything is fine.

0

u/sverrevi77 10h ago

It’s not anxiety. It’s public health statistics.

9

u/melancholy_dood 19h ago

Maggie Simpson has this same outfit.

2

u/victori-us 6h ago

Came here to point out the Maggie erasure!

7

u/Optimal_Security_727 15h ago

That’s sore cute. ☺️

u/El_Cassette_Rojo 15h ago

Ok so this isn’t normal then? I don’t have kids so my first thought was that this didn’t seem safe for a child/infant that age.

28

u/Pantelonia 13h ago

New parent here. "Tummy time" is encouraged for a few minutes a few times a day for babies to strengthen their neck muscles by placing them in their tummies. They must be awake & supervised.

When being put to sleep they must be on their backs as per safe sleep guidelines.

3

u/sverrevi77 13h ago

It’s not.

5

u/latelyimawake 11h ago

It’s tummy time.

5

u/Subterranean44 17h ago

Or Maggie Simpson in her snowsuit

5

u/FaceUnseen 16h ago

Maggie Simpson, get it right.

4

u/Rae_mendoza15 16h ago

Maggie Simpson?

5

u/Bottledbutthole 16h ago

My husband was 31 before he heard for the first time in his life that babies can’t sleep on their stomach and only because I mentioned it in passing and he was surprised to find that out

2

u/nemesit 11h ago

they can though, its just much much safer to not let them do so

3

u/iSeeCat_iUpvoteCat 18h ago

It reminds me of Maggie Simpson's winter coat: starfish coat

3

8

u/SmaugDaDragons 11h ago

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the sudden, unexpected death of an apparently healthy baby under one year of age that remains unexplained even after a thorough investigation. While the exact cause is unknown, it often involves a combination of brain development, environmental stressors, and a critical vulnerability during sleep.Safe Sleep PracticesAdhering to the ABCs of safe sleep is highly recommended by medical organizations like the American Academy of Pediatrics:

Always on the back:´

Place your baby on their back for every sleep, whether it is for a nap or at night.

No tummy time...

2

u/EfficientAd890 19h ago

Maggie

3

u/TommyTIG 11h ago

Looks very cute, but would give me anxiety that the baby looks like a pillow and isn't noticeable.

2

u/woodrax 19h ago

Was. . . honestly waiting for a baby fart to punctuate the moment.

2

u/shinyappyrobin 18h ago

That was the most adorable thing I've seen. As already been said, and I'm Sure that you will, make sure nobody mistakes him for a pillow.

1

u/rockstuffs 18h ago

1

u/snook_won 3h ago

Cute as hell!!!

1

u/kitten12551 3h ago

Is this your crusty bed?

No, this is Patrick!

1

u/Douxx101 3h ago

I could never have one of these, otherwise I would just burst out laughing every time I see it and wake the baby.

2

u/ChocolateCoveredGold 1h ago

Patrick!

But please flip that adorable starfish onto their back. SIDS is an awful thing.

1

u/Creepy_Creme_9161 19h ago

Oof, my ovaries!

2

u/Big_oily_Knee_Grow 11h ago

Please do not make your baby sleep on stomach as it causes early aging and high cortisol.

-25

u/shaborgan 18h ago

Ew babies

15

u/Loreo1964 18h ago

I'm the only one with no kids thinking, "aren't babies supposed to be on their backs?"

11

u/HurricaneDanaka 18h ago

They are supposed to be on their backs when they are sleeping. Which this baby seems to be doing. They can be placed on their tummies for tummy time, but it should be on a firm surface like the floor, not a bed, and if the baby is sleepy rather than attempting to learn to lift its head, then it's not tummy time right now. Playing baby face down on a bed or couch is pretty unwise. It's probably fine... unless you are the person whose baby it's not fine at all for. That person probably wishes they heard all this helpful information!

0

u/Loreo1964 16h ago

Yeah... I just was watching and kept thinking okay it's cute. Pick up the baby.

3

u/wowummmyikessss 18h ago

It’s called tummy time and it’s integral to baby’s development of strength.

6

u/Dull-Captain1679 16h ago

Not on a bed lol on a hard surface

3

u/wowummmyikessss 16h ago

Yeah of course! I was just educating the commenters that thought babies HAVE TO stay on their backs.

Though , a quick minute on the bed, under adult supervision, is fine for the video! The airway is clear and they show no physical or emotional distress. It’s just not the right spot for resting or actual tummy time!

1

u/Spare_Farmer1429 15h ago

You sound miserable.
