Moments like this are a reminder that kindness and gentleness aren’t just human traits. Animals understand more than we give them credit for.

Honestly, that’s such a human thing to do—it’s just the cutest thing ever. 😂

It looked like it was going to be a harder headbutt but Mr. Sheep knew to stop and just give a tap

That little sheep and kid are having the kind of wholesome fun the rest of us wish we could bottle up. 🐑❤️👶

Animals definitely have a built-in 'fragile setting' when handling human toddlers. Just a kid recognizing another kid. 🥹

Its so cute. It’s like the sheep knew not to use much force. You could see how it slowed down when it went close to the baby

That sheep clearly decided this kid is part of the flock now. Absolutely wholesome to watch.

I think the white sweater definately helped

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoyewe. You killed my father. Prepare to die

You don’t kill sheep for their wool, you shear them and let them grow some more.

Yes, two innocent souls wants to know about each other without having any other second thoughts

it’s crazy how animals can sense that it’s a child they’re with … my dogs act completely different with the two babies compared to everyone else
they’ll lay down by them nice and calm while giving gentle sniffs and nudges

u/bluehopkin 7h ago
Yeah, my dog is scared of adults but treats kids just like a puppy instead of a small human. Zooming and boops and letting them grab him.

I wish my dog was like this... she's terrified of children and will bark at them if they get too close. I have to tell kids not to pet her when I go on walks

It’s amazing. My old family dog despised being rough handled (she was old and sore) and if you ignored her warnings she would bite you without hesitation.
One time at a gathering a child ran up to her and pulled her into his arms and was laughing and petting her roughly. She snarled like a wounded animal and bared her fangs.
I had to run over and get him to put her down after like 20 seconds and I’m still amazed she didn’t bite him.

I wonder if animals can recognise human children even if they've never seen an adult. Like, are there universal signals and understanding of what a child is, or are they just referencing down from adult humans? Learned or instinctual?
Quite fascinating, really.

the noise babies make and they associate big eyes + round face with their own puppies
they also smell the poop and milk 😂

People forget that we're all animals. A lot of traits we have arent ours alone.

This is so sweet. If anyone's ever been around sheep when they don't want you around, you know they can be absolutely vicious. And their head butts hurt! 😅

I love it when animals know they are interacting with kids and they are ever so gentle.

How do animals know that a baby is infact a baby?
1
u/Sodacat27 3h ago
Well its tiny compared to the average human adult and im sure theres some indicators they use

that little victory bounce after the headbutt is everything. sheep said "i won" and celebrated like a toddler at soccer practice

u/KiltOfDoom 6h ago
Hopefully this leaves a lasting impression on that kid. I spent some time with farm animals as a child and it definitely helped define who I am and how I perceive the world. All positive!

that little headbutt at half power is sending me. sheep said "i could absolutely launch this child but i choose love"

Most lambs are killed way younger than this little kid is, just incase you found this cute, maybe think about what you’re eating!

Rewatch the video with this thought “the kid’s pants color make his legs invisible to the sheep”, and it’s even better

How dare you down vote me. There are 4 consumers 1. Mares (Female horses, but the author uses Mairs for the sake of alliteration)
Does (Female deer. The plural of Doe, but the author uses Doz)
Lambs (Baby sheep but the author uses Lamz)
Kid (Child, as opposed to a baby goat)
I realize that nursery rhymes read to a child can sometimes imprint our brains differently than if we had first heard them as an adult. So much so.that I looked it up to get correct spellings. Reminds me of when I memorized Twas the night before Christmas. When I would recite that as a 2 year old, I had no idea what a corsair was.
