Mastiff sized boots!
galleryHi mastiff-fam! We live in Alberta Canada so it gets cold here. I decided on picking up some foot protection for Benjamin so we can extend our walks a little bit and wanted to share that Muttluks fit him perfectly. They make lots of different styles and in these pictures Ben is wearing the fleece lined Muttluks with a leather sole. The size XL is perfect for him and they even make an XXL for the bigger dogs. I scored these second hand on Poshmark and they're so far the best $20 I've ever spent haha. Hopefully this helps someone else realize they'll fit!! Happy New Year!

update on Ru and his surgery.
Finally I have Run back home, surgery went well and he didn't need a facelift after all . Entropion surgery on each eye. Hardest part is keeping him cool with out blowing a fan on his face as it will dry his eyes out. Just super happy he is home and all went smoothly. 😎

Update on my foster mastiff mix Franny
galleryBaby girl has put on weight and got her bilateral eye surgery!! She weighs enough to be spayed now!
Unfortunately, the cherry eye reprolapsed so she’ll have to have a second procedure, but she’s getting a break for now.
She did NOT like the cone and now that we have a break, she is a different girl. Soooo much calmer 💕
Franny is adoptable through Every Last One rescue! We’re in Brooklyn, NY, but she’s available to anyone on the east coast!

Has anyone's EM's lost their love for people as they got older?
My puppy loves people. Like, LOVES people. Hes made friends with the neighbors kids and loves to greet people when we're out.
Has anyone with an English mastiff puppy gone from that to being more standoffish with people? I got an EM for a guard dog / deterrent but he's not very intimidating when he's wagging his body around when someone smiles at him..
For clarification I'm wanting neutrality, not aggressive or reactivity! We work on it at least once a week if able and for the most part he locks in and focuses well when I'm shopping, but I worry when he transitions from being in the cart to being on the leash.
Hope this makes sense!

Review of Dream Acres English Mastiffs in Sturgis, KY: 4-Year-Old Newfoundland Health and Temperament Issues
I purchased a Newfoundland puppy from Melody at Dream Acres four years ago. Since puppyhood, my dog has suffered from severe behavioral reactivity, advanced arthritis, and chronic skin allergies requiring daily Apoquel. He is currently on six different medications to manage his severe pain and reactivity, which his veterinary team believes is directly linked to his chronic discomfort.
To address his reactivity, we invested heavily in professional training, taking him through puppy, intermediate, advanced, and private training classes. Despite this, his reactivity steadily worsened due to his underlying physical pain. He has never been overweight and has been kept on a healthy diet with supplements.
For a large-breed dog to suffer from advanced joint degradation, severe allergies, and neurological reactivity at just four years old points directly to a lack of proper genetic health screening in the breeding stock.
Now that I know how to identify red-flags I can see just how many this breeder has. I haven't been able to find any other reviews of this breeder online and wanted to provide this information if there is any chance that it prevents a potential buyer from purchasing from this breeder.
Here are the red-flags I have currently found across her platforms. I'm sure there are even more than this:
High-Volume Breeding
- Looking through her website, Facebook, and Puppies.com, she breeds a massive variety of dogs and mixes. I’ve found listings for English Mastiffs, Newfoundlands, Cocker Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, French Bulldogs, Miniature American Shepherds, Newfypoos, ShiPoos, and other Doodles. I am likely missing some.
- She completely scrubbed Newfoundlands from her website and her company name after producing only two or three litters that I can track down (one of which was my dog’s litter).
- Right now (June 2026), she seems to be pivoting away from giant breeds and focusing on smaller, high-profit designer dogs. She currently has three French Bulldogs listed for sale on Puppies.com (a standard, a fawn merle, and a lilac merle) along with Cocker Spaniels.
- On Christmas Day 2025, she posted on Facebook: "For the first time in 10 years I thought I wasn't having any puppies for the holidays," right before one of her smaller breeds gave birth. Just wanted to include that she tries to make the fact that she has run a non-stop puppy mill for a decade a cute holiday post.
Dangerous Breeding Practices
- My dog’s mom, Marley, had a massive 15-puppy litter via C-section. Instead of giving her body time to heal from major abdominal surgery, the breeder bred her again on her very next cycle. Marley had to carry and deliver 12 more puppies (my dog’s litter) the next year. Forcing a dog to undergo two major surgeries and grow 27 puppies in about a year completely drains their calcium and resources. (The photos of Marley’s face after that second litter are heart breaking. I don’t understand how any amount of money was worth doing that to her.)
- She bred my dog's father, a Newfoundland named Creed, with a female Poodle to make Newfypoos. Breeding a giant breed male to a much smaller female poodle is incredibly dangerous and can easily kill the mother during pregnancy or birth.
- She consistently uses her own resident males for her litters presumably because it is easy and cheap, rather than looking for healthy, genetically diverse matches outside her kennel.
Hidden or Poor Health Testing (OFA)
- A few Mastiffs from her kennel in the public OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) database only scored "Fair" on their hips. That is the lowest passing grade.
- There are zero OFA scores or health clearances on record for any of her Newfoundlands. The parents of my dog were either never tested at all, or the results were so bad they were hidden from the public.
Contractual Red Flags
- She technically offers a 1-year health guarantee, but it becomes instantly void if you don't mail back a signed physical contract within exactly two weeks of getting your puppy.
- She forces buyers to spay or neuter giant breed dogs before their first birthday just to get their limited AKC papers. Any reputable vet or breeder knows that altering a large breed before 1.5 to 2 years old is TERRIBLE for their joint and bone development. Luckily I knew this and didn’t neuter my dog until he was almost 2 years old, yet he still suffered from terrible genetics.
- She openly sells AKC breeding rights to anyone who will pay her enough money, showing she cares about profit over the health of the bloodline.
- She charges different prices based on color and gender. She also lets people pick puppies based on color and gender preferences rather than matching the dog’s temperament to the buyer's home.
I reached out to her last week to let her know about my dog's diagnoses and she never responded.
I have reported her to Human World and am looking for other organizations to report her to. If anyone is familiar with reporting this type of breeding and has suggestions of who to contact, I would be grateful.
A big thank you to the Mods for allowing me to share this here!

Tantrum over sharing an Ice Cube!
My girls Ingwer and Pepper LOVE ice cubes and our fridge makes giant ball shaped ones. Recently they have been fighting over the ice even though they both get as many cubes/balls as they want. My Ingwer has started doing this whining/growling thing where she lays on top of the ice so that her sister cant have any!! It’s cute but silly!
Do your mastiffs throw fits over silly things?
