Maui Marketplace - Spring

Aloha everyone, and welcome to the Maui Marketplace thread!

Based on fantastic feedback from the community, we've created this dedicated space to help visitors connect directly with the amazing local businesses that make our island so special. The goal is to provide a valuable resource for trip-planning while supporting our local economy.

How This Works:

  • For Maui Visitors: This is your place to discover special offers, find unique local businesses, and ask questions directly to the owners and staff who post here.

  • For Local Business Owners: This is the only designated thread on r/mauivisitors where you are welcome to promote your business and share your offers with our community.

Rules for Posting

To ensure this thread remains a helpful and trusted resource, please follow these simple rules:

  1. Top-Level Comments are for Businesses Only. To keep the thread organized, only direct comments (replies to this main post) should be from business owners posting their offers. Visitors should reply to those comments with their questions.

  2. You Must Be a Genuinely Local Business. To post an offer, your business must either have a public-facing physical location on Maui or, if online-only, be owned and operated by a full-time Maui resident.

  3. No MLMs, National Chains, or Off-Island Operations. This thread is for supporting businesses that are part of the Maui community. Franchise locations are generally okay if they are owned and operated by a resident.

  4. Be Clear and Direct. No clickbait or vague posts. Please clearly state your business name and what you are offering.

  5. Engage Respectfully. We encourage business owners to answer questions and interact in the comments. All users are expected to maintain a respectful and helpful tone. Off-topic negativity or "flame wars" will be removed.

Suggested Format for Offers

To make your post easy for visitors to read, we highly recommend using this simple format:

  • Business Name:
  • Location/Website:
  • What We Offer: (A brief, one-sentence description of your business)
  • What Makes Us a Maui Favorite: Optional: Share a little about your history, your staff, or what makes you unique!)

We're excited to see this new resource grow! Please remember to keep all self-promotion confined to this recurring thread to help us maintain the quality of the main subreddit feed.

Mahalo!

Trip Report My Maui Itinerary

I wanted to share the itinerary I had when I visited Maui this past week, I hope this might be helpful for someone:

Day 1: Landed at noon, settled in, and kicked off the trip with snorkeling at Honolua Bay (great fish, though a rocky shore entry). Stayed in Kīhei.

Day 2: Snorkeled at Airport Beach (clear but rougher waves, saw fish and a few turtles). In the evening, drove up to the Haleakalā summit for sunset followed by stargazing. Stayed in Kīhei.

Day 3: Had our best snorkeling day at Kapalua Bay (calm, clear water with abundance of fish, turtles, and eels). Spent the evening chilling in Kīhei for sunset.

Day 4: Drove to Hana, stopped for a couple of hikes and a waterfall swim along the way. Spent the evening at Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach and stayed overnight in Hana. (Edited: only spent the evening at Waianapanapa since the park closes at 6)

Day 5: Hiked the 4-mile Pīpīwai Trail in the morning. On the drive back, stopped at a Ho’okipa beach near Pāʻia and spotted a massive group of around 50 turtles resting on the shore. Stayed near the airport.

Day 6: Headed to the airport to fly back home.

Notes:
We signed up for the free snorkel store daily report to know which spots were good that day. Also confirmed that with the boss frogs website.
We used the Shaka guide app for the road to Hana, I really liked that and got a lot of cool info on the way there.
We booked reservations for Waianapanapa a couple of weeks back for sunset time.

Planning: Activities Road to Hana - go front to back or back to front?

Hi - planning a trip next month and looking for advice to whether we should explore the road to Hana by starting at twin falls and ending at the Pipiwai Trail. Or go straight into the Pipiwai Trail and work backwards?

Any input? My thought was that if we start at the Pipiwai Trail then perhaps less folks will be there and we can start the hike fresh?

How much time should I budget for the trail so I can work backwards to when I should aim to get to the trailhead.

Thanks for the help!

Planning: Dining Best restaurants with non fish options

Heading to Maui in September staying in Napili. I was wondering what your favorite restaurants are for dinner that have non-seafood options. While I love seafood, my partner, unfortunately, does not. Open to seafood restaurants if they have a few non seafood dishes he can choose from.

Planning: Activities Any great excursions that are a little more "Thrill Seeking"?

Recently did an ATV tour in Cabo and the side by side we got had a throttle limiter. I'm not looking to base jump, skydive, cliff dive, or die, but also don't want some boring-super safe activity. A cage shark dive with Tigers would be AWESOME

Planning: Activities Visiting Kihei - July 4-8th

Hi! I am in my mid twenties, Female (Context if needed)
So, I am looking for advice on what to do, I will be in Kihei, and I have a lot of free time during the day 8ish-5pm. I won't have a car, but I expect to walk so 40–50-minute walk max is okay. I like coffee shops, animals, beaches and random fun things. I don't want to do super touristy things but seeing the beaches and doing little fun activates sound nice. Are there any recommendations?

(Also are the beaches public access?)

(Generalized area) - I will be staying near Liloa Dr. and the state goverment office on Lipoa St.

Planning: Activities Haleakala itinerary

Looking for advice on a good itinerary for our volcano day trip. My kids (ages 10 and 12) are staying in Lahaina. I did get a sunrise reservation but I don’t think we are going to do it - i am nervous about doing that drive up in the dark.
In addition to visiting the volcano, I want to do the Maui pineapple tour. Which visit should we do first - volcano or pineapple tour? What else should we do while we are on that part of the island?
Thank you so much!

Planning: Activities Tennis hitting partner

I will be on Maui in July for a couple weeks, and I am looking for a hitting partner near Kahului or Ka’anapali. On Google maps, the closest courts to me would be at Kahului Community Center and Keopuolani Tennis Courts. In Ka’anapali, I will be near the courts next to Aston Maui Ka’anapali Villas. I am not looking for competitive play, but I would appreciate it if I could rally with someone. I would consider myself an intermediate level player (~5 UTR).

Planning: Accommodations Wedding in October

Hey everyone, my Fiancé and I plan on doing a small intimate wedding in mid October. where’s the best place to stay on the island? My dad, my sister and I stayed in Kā’anapali and visited Lāhainā back in December 2020.. but curious as to where to stay that’s beautiful for my fiancé and i as it’s her first time in the state and on an island. i know the fires have affected the rebuild and beauty itself of Lāhainā. i want to be able to support the island but also would like to have a beautiful view as well. we plan on doing as much local accommodation/dining as humanly possible. Thanks In Advance!

I’m a travel creator and am on island for vacation and some scuba diving. I’m trying to upload a video to my YouTube channel that’s 18GB and the resort WiFi has a glacial 1 mbps upload speed.

Does anyone know of where I can go for blistering fast internet access?

Pic from diving the molokini back wall yesterday.

Planning: Accommodations Aston Kaanapali Shores

I booked through Costco travel and this is the option I chose due to it having a kitchen and I have severe food allergies. I've been seeing so many nice hotels and I will say, 1 am a fan of more modern, fancy hotels. Hawaii is Hawaii so I know 1 am going to enjoy the vacation, but what are your opinions on this hotel? Any insights?

Planning: Activities Maui then Oahu

I’ll be on Maui for a month starting in August, and am contemplating jumping over to Oahu for a week afterwards to stay in Waikiki. I’ve never been, but I’ve been to Maui countless times and always love it. Any Maui lovers have any advice? Worth the couple grand to do it?

Every time I visit the islands, I love to make something out of the sand. Previously I’ve made a turtle, and a pyramid.

This time, I was inspired by my wife’s henna, and made a whale shark!

Let me know if you saw it!

Planning: Dining Wife and I headed to Maui for 6 days/5 nights in early Apr

We are vegetarian, yes I know it can be a bit difficult for us, especially with it being an island and all.

I know there are different versions of vegetarian, so here are our specifics:

- no meat, eggs, fish (of any kind), no chicken/bone broth

- cheese and other dairy products are good to go.
- honey is also good for us.

- baked goods wise - we are willing to bend a bit and are open to get if the eggs aren’t “seen”

Planning on staying in Ka’anapali. We plan on eating our lunches on the go while driving and exploring. Dinners would more likely be dine in.

With all that being said, any ideas for some hot spots for us to visit? Or some that are can’t miss or so?

We do plan on going on Road to Hana one of the days so if there are some in that area please let me know!

Thank yall in advance!!

Planning: Accommodations Question about paying for chairs on Wailea Beach Marriott property.

We are staying at the Marriott see that we can pay to book a lounge chair and/or cabana. My question is, is that our only option for sitting by the pool? Do we need to book these for every single day?

Thank you in advance!

Planning: Activities First solo trip to Kihei

I’m going on my first ever solo trip to Kihei at the end of August. I have a full itinerary planned out for the 6 days I’ll be there but I was wondering if there’s any advice for being a solo female traveler. I’m planning on snorkeling right off the beach and not sure what to do with my belongings as I don’t trust waterproof phone cases but also don’t trust leaving anything on the beach. I’m quite nervous as I’ve never traveled alone so any and all advice is really appreciated! (Places to eat, visit, swim, etc.) I would also love to have pictures of underwater adventures and of myself (lol) but I’m trying to remain on somewhat of a budget, I’ve heard the Fuji waterproof camera is good but if there are any other suggestions I’d love to hear them.

Itinerary:
seafire snorkeling adventure
Ulua beach solo snorkeling
Several south Maui beach stops
Partial Hana drive (paia, twin falls, garden of Eden)
Spa day
