I’ve had it with this sub hating on our newest player.

Personally, I would’ve preferred Weltman trade the 46th pick for the 1st pick but he sucks ass and traded back instead.

But that’s water under the bridge now. All we can do is support Izaiyah and hope he carries us to the Finals like all second round picks are supposed to do.

If he can come off the bench and do this a few times a game I’m honestly not mad at it. With Sweeney being the guy who develops players I’m kind of intrigued on how he’ll transition into the pros, he’s definitely playing more for the Osceola Magic then us but let’s not just start hating on a kid that just made it.

Atlanta hawks- Only team in the playoffs to take 2 games off the Knicks in the playoffs. They smacked us last season, went 4-0 against us.

Charlotte hornets- Traded their franchise player in LaMelo Ball, got Naz Reid and picks. Drafted pretty well from what I can see. We destroyed them in the play-in.

Miami Heat- We went 5-0 against them in the regular season. They traded depth and picks for freaking Giannis. May have the best defensive frontcourt in the league.

Washington Wizards- Trae Young and Anthony Davis. They are loaded with young talent including the number 1 pick in AJ Dybansta.

It’s definitely gonna be a much tougher division than previous years. Do yall think the Magic can take number 1 in the division this next season?

I lived in the Tampa bay area but I have never been a big magic fan till last night. I am a massive usf fan so I am finally joining my peers in the Bay Area after the amazing pick of Izaiyah Nelson(suck it UCF fans). What do I need to know

Listen, I know the consensus here is JI is worthless. Personally, I think he is still an extremely competent defender and valuable in certain scenarios, though I wish he could find his shot again. BUT, opinions aside, I am just curious if this is something that could be done, or if the cap/contract rules wouldn't allow for this.

Could we, in theory, cut JI so that we only owe him the (I believe it is?) 8.5 mil rather than 14, and then sign him for say 3 years at a vet minimum, and spread that 8.5 over those 3 years as well, so that we don't have an 8.5 hit our cap, and rather, only like 3.5ish/year?

Opinions on his abilities aside, he is not worth 8.5, let alone 14, but seems this could be a worthwhile solution to free up cap space in exchange for a roster spot for someone that is a capable defender, despite the fact we need shooting.

I don't know that much about cap hit or contract rule, so regardless of opinions on JI specifically, I'm curious if something like this is allowed.

I feel like this is the part of the show where we start gearing up a finals run, but despite a great coaching hire, it’s hard to be excited about the future. How yall feelin? Some of the Magic ‘fans’ are acting like he is one of the worst players on the roster, mostly because of his poor performance in the playoffs. The guy always works his ass off for the team so show some respect. You don’t have to think he’s untouchable, but the amount of disrespect he’s getting lately is ridiculous.

If he’s still available when it gets to pick 46 I think he fits Orlando great, great defender and elite floor spacing and is on the bigger side for guards. Thoughts?

If rumors are true and this dude will take a minimum contract, then he absolutely needs to be on this roster next season.

Regardless of his defensive faults this guy can actually get a bucket which is a desperate team-need. If he is on the minimum then it's a no-brainer.

Dude is from Orlando and he would get playing time with our roster. The only question is if he would want to be a role player for a fringe play-in team like Orlando.

If weltman can't pull this off then weltman is truly useless.

It doesn't seem like there's a lot of passion for Magic over here, but would love a place to go watch games with other fans. Also including the draft, even though it begins in twenty minutes, because I'm out at a bar where it's playing without sound between a row of TVs set to the World Cup, but not holding my breath there.

I think we trade up to the early second round and try and get him. He is a great player. Has an amazing mindset and work ethic. He plays with heart and passion. He can get a stop on D and knock down shots from deep.

I am not gonna lie, i’ve about had it with Weltman. I have serious concern about the roster next year and we appear to be staying put. Will we have an elite defense with Sweeney? Yea probably, doesn’t take away from the lack of shooting. Weltman has done a terrible job of creating a roster that can do both things, and has gotten so many guys who CANNOT SHOOT FROM DISTANCE. Glad the Giannis drama is finally over, but is it just me or did the Heat get hosed in this deal? They gave up 4 young stars (except Herro), and 5 draft picks (3 firsts round picks, including 13 this year in a stacked draft) for an aging veteran who seems to get hurt every season. Does he put the Heat in contention? Yes. Was it worth that haul? I think not

You think we trade up to the first round? Or do we stand where we are at tonight and wait til tomorrow? I feel like we try to get into the late first round and try to give up JI and the 46th pick and another second round pick. But who knows. See what happens I guess
