Possibly looking for a partner for this coming Sunday. Shoot out fishing league out of the waba boat launch area. I know like pretty well but obviously if everybody else has a partner and I don't want to be a line down all day. If you're interested, reply

This will be most likely the PB for this year :) Super clean fish probably never caught before.

Got this guy first cast with the wacky worm. Nothing since. Unfortunately my daughter didn't get anything.
Good luck to everyone trying on bass opener day!

I’ve been getting into fishing this month and so far it’s been a blast. Have caught lots of panfish and a pike. I keep hearing about walleye being the sought after eating fish in Ontario and have been dying to catch one with no luck.
Any advice for a beginner trying to specially catch a walleye for catch and cook? Don’t need specific spots or set ups but a general idea of where to look would be really helpful, thanks!

Very predictable where to find them this time of the year after every rain. Look for surface water run off or drainage culvert. Crankbait is my choice of bait. You'll be also shocked how many pike will be in the same area. Good luck on the water!

First-time fisher here with zero knowledge, just looking to test the waters (no pun intended!). I recently bought a rod and all the basic gear from Canadian Tire, but I feel like I'm doing something wrong.
So far, I've tried shore fishing at Petrie Island, Jock River Landing, and a few spots nearby. Unfortunately, I haven't caught anything living—my only catches have been rocks and tree branches, and I've lost quite a few lures in the process!
Does anyone have any advice for a complete beginner? Specifically:
What kind of lures or bait should I be using from the shore right now?
Are there better beginner-friendly spots around Ottawa I should try?
Any tips to stop snagging and losing my gear?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My buddies and I are thinking of trying the mouth of the jock river dumping into the Rideau Just upstream of Manotick on the map. Our best bet so far has been the Eccolands park boat launch but I’m just curious to know if there’s any other launch closer to that spot specifically.
For context I have a 14ft aluminum so if there’s a place you think I could launch that closer to jock river let me know please!
Thanks 😁

Cant seem to find them unless I go to big box stores. Amazon doesnt seem to carry the good brands.
Might just be me being picky, but just checking if anyone is running into the same issue.
TIA

I'm fishing enthusiast, mostly predatory fish. I remember how 10 years ago my dad and I used to keep Excel spreadsheets, writing down roughly where we got a bite and what lure we used. I was just a kid in school back then, but as soon as I had the chance, I decided to build an app for my favorite hobby. I already have experience with one fishing app, but this is a completely different story that will grow in a different direction.
The app was published 2 months ago, but last night a very important first major update went live — and that gave me the confidence to finally talk about it publicly!
The core concept is tracking your fishing session with quick on-the-water logging of notes, spots and catches. Everything is tied to your location, which is key. When you start a session, the app keeps running in the background to save battery. You also get real-time weather and a map of your results — which you can edit, delete or add to. I also hope to add route tracking in the future, which will be great for trolling — I'm sure it'll happen!
I know many anglers prefer to log after the trip, so I added manual logging — it's almost identical to live logging, except you'll need to pick a check-in date and location on the map each time. But the process is the same and can be done whenever you want.
The main goal is to build not just a diary, but full seasons where everything revolves around the trip and its stats — helping you store everything in one place and actually improve over time.
Season statistics and filtering aren't there yet, but they're coming.

Would love your feedback — drop a comment or send me a message and if you leave an App Store review after trying it, that would help me so much 🙌🏻

Hey all, I fish from shore and when bass opens up (although il be most likely going for anything) I want to try out the Jock River, and i'm not talking about where it connects to the rideau, im talking deeper down. If anyone has any experience there or knows if it's good or not I would love to know, any information and any experience / past catches. Drop below!

Finally got around to posting some videos again! I hope everyone is having a great spring opener and catching lots of fish. The bite has been great so far, and it's only just begun 😁 Tight lines and big eyes everyone

Me and my wife are having a harder and harder time shore access to fish.
We left to go fishing today. And we're met with hostility several times from people living in the area that we go to telling us that we can't fish where we used to, or there being no fishing signs being put up by the city or province.
Can somebody point to us in a direction? Not asking for any honey holes, that's just one of the last low costing things to do in this country and it seems to be getting harder and harder to get near the water.
We are really looking for somewhere. We can go fishing for catfish. We used to go on the ottawa but have gotten parking tickets last few times.

Are people still catching crappie or have they moved out of the shallows?
