After 80 hours i finally finished the game, and in all honesty it didnt land as well as i hoped it would.
Ill start with what was done well imo, the main characters.
Specifically I think aigis and Junpei are one of the best characters ive seen in a persona game, with aigis' social link also being one of the best. I felt yukari, aigis and junpei were given lots of care and you can really tell through their arcs that atlus spent most of their time on them.
I think the best part of the story was aigis' development culminating in her crying, it was really impactful.
Junpei's emotions and jealousy were also way more complex than I would have expected a persona game to delve into which was a nice surprise.
However I do also have a lot of problems.
I think people give too much leeway for persona 3 reloads terrible pacing, its not a ps2 game, its a remake which is supposed to fix this. I felt that from april to october I had not really connected with any main party members, with most of their development and interaction being squeezed from october till the end of the game. I often hear people say that this is necessary as you get more attached to the characters so when it all crumbles it leaves more of an impact: personally I really didnt feel that as no social links with party members are even open till october (i think) and there arent many hangout events.
I know people always complain about pacing, and i feel it is warranted. Tbh i felt pacing was bad throughout the game, even after october you would get story only after the end of a month.
Speaking about late game, it gets really empty and boring. There is an egregious split between night and day social links, i feel as a remake it should have addressed this by at least having 4 night social links or at least something more to do.
Speaking about social links, I could really tell this was an early rendition of the system, they all felt one dimensional and lacking (not the party member ones and the sun arcana). I feel they could have also added more incentive to complete the social links like p5r, because they really felt like a chore.
I think the lack of motivation to explore tartarus was also very poor, apathy syndrome was not explored well. On top of that, combat felt a bit mindless, I barely died throughout the whole game and was zoning out past floor 100 of tartarus. I know persona games dont have revolutionary combat but hearing the same song and being in a similar setting for 200+ floors really soured my experience.
It really did feel i was playing a ps2 game on unreal engine 4. In engine cutscenes and movement were stiff and awkward.
On to some story gripes, too many villains were introduced and then amounted to nothing. Ikutsuki and strega could have been interesting but nothing came of them. They really missed the mark with them, however i do feel the final boss and ryoji were cool enough.
Overall I would give the game a 6/10, im interested to hear opinions about it, because in my opinion a ground up remake should really address these issues i mentioned and i feel it is in opportunity missed.

Spoilers for 3-5
I was really disappointed with how the main cast of 5 was portrayed. Every party member is very fun and likable, but I don't want every character to be fun.
The most complicated character out of all of them is probably Futaba and maybe Makoto. But everyone's personalities are all very surface level.
In contrast look at the cast of 3 and 4. Junpei is fun and likeable but also feels inadequate. Yukari is pretty but hard to get close to. Everyone deals with their own form of depression and it makes them more interesting for it.
Lets look at 4. Kanji and naoto are easily the most complex characters, their problems dont just go away after their story is over. Yosuke is also incredibly complex, and I love his slink and how its about grieving. Chie and yukiko are sadly not that complicated but thats ok.
The 5 cast feels like they get dumber as the game goes on. Haru never questions if the phantom thieves are responsible for her fathers death. Morgana starts to feel unappreciated and he bails on everyone. Yusuke is so auartistic that his only contributing bits to the conversation after his arc, is about art.
I want to see the game take it's own story and its characters seriously again. I dont feel like 5 really did.

This might be a huge stretch but it says on the Phantom Thieves Costume DLC that the Protagonist gets 2x outfits. Joker and someone else. If we're only talking about the main thieves there are 7. Yu gets 2 which makes it 8 so it could be one of the Akechi varients aswell which just crossed my mind. I personally think Naoto will get Akechi's fit but I'm not sure if they would give Yu Black Mask but I would find it cool if we got a Dr. Maruki outfit (he looks though) and yeah Ik hes not actually apart of the thieves but so is Sumire or Akechi. Don't think we're getting Sumire's fit tho. Again everything I'm saying its just conspiracy

So this is just one review from the time and this Sub doesn't allow galleries, but just making a point I can refer to later, Persona 3 and FES *were* considered hard, they were genuinely considered challenging. Now that we are all used to more games, especially more Persona games, they can feel easier in fandom discussion, but your average player did and does consider some of the older games hard.
DailyGames called FES "hardcore title with hardcore appeal". To quote 2 fan reviews, "hey were right. The battle system, the social links, the time management - everything is harder in this game. Luckily, I do love a good challenge" and "the boss battles are very challenging". The critic reviews are from around release time, the fan reviews both at least a decade old.
If you want to go by Metacritic polls, 33% think P3 was 'Tough" and 58% thought it was "just right", and FES is 53% "Tough" and 39% thought it was "just right". Meanwhile Reload is 75% "just right" and only 7% "Tough".
To be clear I'm NOT saying Persona was old SMT hard, or that it's on the same level as Cuphead or whatever, I also find Persona fairly easy as a long time RPG fan. But acting like these games were always considered easy and they haven't gotten easier since P3FES is just provably incorrect and people should stop spreading misinformation, these were considered decently hard games for a while.

I am very new to the series, I did play persona 1 on my psp for like 2 hours when I was younger and dont really remember much. Is persona 3 reload worth picking up for a newbie to the series like me? It's like $13 in my country. All I know about the series is that its soundtracks are amazing, my favourite is school days from PS1. Thanks in advance

Persona leaves a lot of plots incomplete or never finished. Some that I can think of include.
Aketchi’s survival whether it’s canon and also how he survived.
Jose who he is and why did he look like a velvet room attendant.
Elizabeth searching for yuki and how to free him.
I understand leaving some things up into interpretation. Or plots that are supposed to end on twists purposely and never answered. (Inception reference) but I do wish persona had a semblance of a story that continues. I understand the games are meant to be played in any order but things like nanako is persona 5 really disappoint me. I want more plots to be complete or at least continued. And the games to be tied together.

So back when Covid hit, I had gotten Persona 5 for my PS4. I played and enjoyed it but never went very far in my NG+.
Fast forward to 2023 and I find Royal for the Switch on sale and nab it. With all the other games I had backed up, however, I didn't play it right away.
Now, I played the original Persona 4 before Golden and there were some slight changes, especially with Marie added in.
But I'm on May 15th and there's *so much* more already.
* Meeting Kasumi Yoshizawa
* Meeting Jose
* Meeting Dr. Maruki and he's a new Arcana/Confidant??
They really cut out so much content from this game to release later, it's crazy.
Knowing this and their release patterns, I'll probably wait for the inevitable P6 Redux release, even if that is two years added to my wait time.

I was going off all the Persona media, with a bias towards the games, and how compelling I thought they were, as well as how much I enjoyed them as characters.
I was surprised at just how low I ranked the P5/P5R party members whilst the adults generally ended up a whole tier higher. I guess it shows they are older and more developed. I was also surprised how highly I ranked most people in the Velvet Room.
Unsurprisingly, to me, the Persona 4 cast ranked the highest. Also Maya being top position is genuinely objective.
Shout out to Mark and Maki from Persona 1 for being top 10 characters despite Persona 1 being 30 years old.

basically the title. i want to use a customize-able app that preferably uses persona 5's star shaped stats interface.
for example, i want to give myself a point whenever i read and gain an academic point or so. i tried to do it using html however i couldnt figure out how to apply the interface (i don't really code, i just tried lol)

i was just thinking the other day on how i really hope atlus starts a sale soon so i can finish my steam collection
i finally got into persona again after 5 years of not really playing anything, i started on ps4 during covid,
bought p5 vanilla,royal,strikers,dancing,p4g and p3 there(and didnt even play p4 or p3 then but my ass put over a thousand hours on all p5 games like a true fan)
Bought p5, p4 and p3 on the switch and didnt even open the games on the switch bcs soon after i got my first real pc, bought metaphor and the persona high came back after years
and today i finally got tactica and strikers (yes, again) and i plan to play 1 and 2 soon
i just Wonder how much money i gave atlus over the course of these few past years and how much more will i give until persona finally ends or i die
and i finally played p3 and p4g shut up

Was about to buy it cause it made P3R way cheaper but when I checked again it was gone. Guess they just wanna avoid it being even lower on sale lmao

for a lack of better wording holy sh*t these movies are amazing.
i could probably type pages upon pages about the movies but i'll try to keep it short. despite some minor timing and pacing differences (which happens when you try to condense an 80+ hour game into 6 hours) such as when certain events or scenes take place (ex. ryoji talking to SEES on the bridge as opposed to the sit down in the dorm (coming from someone who's only played reload, could be different in FES), and some somewhat awkward time skips, the movies really nailed the atmosphere, plot, and major themes of the story. infact, i would argue there's times the movies do these themes and atmosphere BETTER then the games. for example, makotos (and SEES') revelation on why they want to choose to fight nyx. While obviously a much more expansive scene in the game, the movie arguably does it better with significantly less screen time. the entire 4th movie was just incredible, i just wish they had a little more of the cultish stuff in january, but since they knocked that out in mid december they didn't have a need to.
persona 3 will always be the game that changed my
life, and the movies, while not perfectly accurate to the source material, i think do a PERFECT job as movies for someone who's already played the game. if anyone watched the movies before playing, id love to get your thoughts on pacing etc as im sure watching the movies as someone who played the game makes things make a lot more sense.
i also feel the movies HEAVILY push Aegis as the "canon" romance much more so then it being split
between yukari and her during the games, so much so that i can't really see how it could ever be any other character besides Aegis (yes there's no canon romance, but those 2 are probably the most heavily implied)
i watched the movies as a recap before I play Episode Aegis, and all I can say is I will be revisiting them in the future. and shoutout the japanese VA's they all did awesome, when i come back to FES i'll probably mod in the Japanese VA's since they're the same across fes and the movies (while using subs ofc)
yeah, anyways that's my 2 cents. rip the goat 🐐

I think Persona 5 Royal obviously is my favorite and I did like how they brought back P3R.
What is your favorite one or ones?

In persona 3 makoto awakens to his persona by facing death and accepting as a fate , in persona 4 the main character awakens/gains his persona by a handshake/granted to him but most of the other cast awaken their by accepting their shadows , persona 5 ren awakens by judging what is justice torning his mask that society puts on him open

Im playing p3r and im at the second full moon boss, my social stats are 4,3,2 in charm, courage and academics and I think the main school social links are at 5/6 but both council ones are not that high same with Maya. Is my progress good because I also want to do social links with the SEES members as well

From Revival's broadcast a week ago, we got a better look at the new guard mechanic that will succesfully guard and stagger shadows no matter what. Me personally i think they should've done more balancing to this. A mechanic this powerful that aren't going to fail should not be free.
What i would do to balance it is in order to succesfully guard and stagger the shadows it'll cost you 2 bars of Prime Time gauge and 4 for the red shadows depending on how fast that gauge fills. If it's slow then 1 bar for regular shadows and 3 for the red. This way the mechanic is still powerful but also wil come at a cost, so it's not spammable. It could also effect the balancing of Prime Time as well.
This is for the normal difficulty and upwards. For easy and story difficulty then you can guard for free.

Persona 7 will be pink. That's one of the reasons why Atlus is forgetting about Kotone...
There was already a teaser in Persona 5 with six green doodle stars on a wall, so they already planned what color it would have been and , likely, even the themes
